Mmmmmh.
Necesitaba empezar una nueva serie de manga que me desengranara la cabeza como lo hace The Promised Neverland en cada número, y aunque este es el primer volumen, tenía más expectativas por lo que parecía prometer.
Esta primera entrega de Moriarty El Patriota hace una muy buena introducción de los personajes y de las dinámicas entre ellos y en general de la historia. Es decir, presenta muy bien las bases de lo que va a desarrollar y me parece que lo hace de manera ejemplar.
La historia en sí nos muestra a una familia de nobles en una sociedad donde ellos son los que están al mando... y odian que sea así. El cambio social y la revolución se ven muy bien plasmadas en este primera entrega, y se promete que es el hilo conductor que va a ir uniendo todos los casos e investigaciones y planes del resto de entregas. Mi parte revolucionaria ADORA.
Algo que no me ha convencido del todo es que cada capítulo es independiente, aunque tenga ciertos elementos conjuntos. En ese sentido me recuerda a las ficciones procedimentales de la televisión, con tramas generales entre personajes pero con pequeñas historias con inicio y final. Yo no es que sea demasiado fan de este formato, por lo que en ese sentido creo que lo justo es esperar a ver cómo se desarrollan en los siguientes volúmenes para poder apreciar si es tan distinto como promete.
Esta primera inmersión en el mundo de Moriarty me ha gustado y entretenido, pero no me ha matado. Seguiré leyendo los siguientes volúmenes y os iré comentando.

BRI WAS RIGHT!!! She said this was her favorite series currently. I ran to Barnes & Noble. They only had the first volume. So I snatched it up. Didn't read the synopsis. Didn't need to.
This is stunning. Perfect. Perfect. PERFECT.
I adored it. I read this on live with my Patrons and the faces I was making were iconic. My reactions were 🤯🤯🤯
This is like if you took the BBC Sherlock but he was an assassin for hire. Tell me you're not intrigued. UGH! I loved it. HIGHLY recommend!

This was really good!
We follow these guys Willaim and Louis as they are adopted into a hierarchial family of the Moriarty's but then we see their origins aided by the first son of Count Moriarty and what they do in order to get rid of their extended family and their real plans and motives and the thing which sets the plot for the entire series and that first chapter in itself hooked me on the series and its really so good, I love it!
The next ch being about the brothers coming to Dublin and aiding this couple against the evil Baron and omg wow what an explosive ch and it made me love the brothers and the way they go about punishing him and also helping the poor people there and fighting the authoritarian regime that way was awesome and we get an insight into William's (our MC) personality and WOW ITS SO TERRIFYING in a good way!
Plus the last story with how he solves the death of a girl and preventing his students of artistocracy from becomign evil like is amazing and I love the mystery and facet of it and we get two new supporting members Moran and Fred and that was awesome and the punishment he lays out damn its intimidating and just shows he is an anti-hero and why the perfect foil for Sherlock holmes! Just a perfect series and a must read plus the art is SO GOOD! 3 self contained stories and a fun time at that so a great volume overall!

This Anime has been my latest obsession and, after finishing it, I just had to start reading the Manga.
What I absolutely adore about this, is that the Anime takes certain liberties with the story and is different from the Manga in many ways (though it is just as good). This makes the Manga exciting, even after watching the Anime, because it's like seeing the story through different eyes.
This is such an underrated series - I love the story, the characters, and the social commentary! Can't wait to continue with the next one!

My friend loves Moriarty the Patriot and I’ve been meaning to get into it for ages, so I’m glad I finally got a chance to read the first volume. It was a bit infodumpy at first, but it definitely has its charm with how it twists the classic Sherlock villain into a villain that betters society. I love the characters in here and I will definitely continue with this series.

Love the idea of this reimagining of Sherlock Holmes' arch nemesis as an (anti-)hero, btu the execution is a bit one note and over the top. Moriarty in this retelling is a champion of equality and a scourge of the English nobles whose class-based oppression keeps most lives in the UK nasty, brutish, and short. By seeking to overthrow the system he and his companions set themselves up as outsiders and (to those whose systematic crimes he punishes) criminals. I love the theme, but the dialog and plot are just too melodramtic for me to read much more of this series.

March 5, 2022i want william james moriarty to completely destroy the insides of my brains, if he asked me to spend entire hours just resolving logarithmic or exponential equations i would quickly get to work and not allow myself a single break until the only way i can communicate is either through combinations of LOG or LN creating a whole new mathematical language in the process, with the sole purpose of demonstrating my undying devotion to his mortal vessel and immortal soul.
if he ever asked me to slaughter filthy nobels alongside/for him i would consider such request the most coveted demand that i could ever hope to hear fall from his divine lips.

El dibujo me ha flipado. La historia se me ha hecho aburrida en ciertos momentos, pero bueno, al ser el primer tomo se nota que es bastante introductorio.
Tengo ganas de leer los demás, quiero ver a Sherlock interactuando con Moriarty.
Me parece muy interesante la lucha de clases que tienen los personajes. A ver como continúa la cosa... ^^

Me han gustado tanto los dibujos, como la historia.
Es totalmente diferente del Moriarty que conocíamos de Sherlock Holmes el cual ni a aparece y hay una coña con A.Conan Doyle al final.
Aquí nuestro protagonista viene de la casta social mas baja pero tiene un gran intelecto y su meta es hacer de ran Bretaña un lugar mejor, sin corrupción y demás injusticias; ya veis lo cambiando que está.
Valoración: 6.75/10

Despite his legacy as Sherlock Holmes' greatest foe, Professor Moriarty only appears (or is mentioned) in six of Arthur Conan-Doyle's canonical works, and he is, it must be admitted, relatively underdeveloped. Enter Ryosuke Takeuchi's Moriarty the Patriot, which seems to take as its raison d'etre the exploration of what motivated the professor to pit himself against the great detective.
It's not because he was a mustache-twirling villain, I can tell you that. Takeuchi's Moriarty is a man deeply embittered by the power discrepancy between the gentry and nobility and the common man, and he sees this as a failing of the British Empire as a whole. Therefore he sets himself up as a "crime consultant" - a man you go to when you have no legal recourse. Moriarty and his cohorts make the problem go away...very permanently. His goal is to fix the social ills of the Victorian era, one murder at a time, and it makes for compelling reading. He's Robin Hood by way of a serial killer, and only one thing's for sure: if Holmes didn't die at Reichenbach Falls, there's even less of a chance that this man did.
He's playing the long game.

fabuła mangi, jak i jej kreska bardzo przypadły mi do gustu. klimat i czasowe osadzenie jest intrygujące, a dodatkowe wplecenie różnych informacji o ówczesnej Anglii jest przyjemne dla czytelnika. aż szkoda, że nie mam drugiego tomu, bo jak najszybciej bym przeczytała, by poznać nowe działania i losy bohaterów

I love a good Sherlock Holmes retelling, so when I heard there was a manga adaptation featuring Moriarty, I jumped at the chance to read it!
This volume was a great way to start the series. We get to see how William and his brother Louis become adopted into the Moriarty family, and we learn what drives Moriarty to do the things he does. I've also watched the anime adaptation, but even though I already knew the main plot, there are little things the manga does that are different, and that I believe make the story even darker and more disturbing.
Looking forward to reading on and for when we get to see Sherlock!

I read the german edition of this series and as far as I know it’s also been licensed in italian and french, maybe english will follow soon, therefore I decided to write this review in english, so everyone interested in the story could read it. Anyways, let me tell you, I enjoyed this first volume pretty much, nonetheless, there are some concerns for the upcoming volumes I feel the need to share.
At first, I’ll focus on what I loved. I’m actually no huge Sherlock Holmes fan. I mean, I am aware of the hype for the Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch but I never watched it, and those kind of new Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. were entertaining to be watched once but no need for more. So, yeah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Why did I pick up this series, one may wonder now. It’s easy and also this is partly what I loved about this installment:
1) I’m such a sucker for villains / antagonists / or however is willing to do more than what legal to reach their aims.
2) I’m a fan of the historic setting and the standards society sets by birth. It’s a fine fertile soil for drama.
3) The art style is gorgeous, and I might just buy all the volumes because I’ve fallen for the handsome boys on first sight without even knowing anything about them.
Aside of those three aspects, I’ve been granted so much more. The first chapter which explained how the three boys grew up gave me chills. I love how the two brothers stuck together but also how their half-brother Albert took them in and how he accepted them and loved them more than his own family. It’s actually cruel of me to describe it like this, considering what Albert plotted against his father, mother and younger brother. Plus, it’s obvious he is one of the engines for all their evil doings, just as much as William is... What I’m trying to state here: I admire how those three have bonded. It’s awesome. Well, what they did in contrast took my breath away! They were so very young! This only emphasizes how incredibly inhuman and intolerable the world must have felt to them. It’s the world made by the humans and their society which made them monsters. Monsters whose actions I should disapprove strongly but whom I can understand and struggle to judge.
Looking at the plot of the other two chapters, I have to say it feels more like some kind of introduction or explanation of what the Moriarty family is doing. Each chapter brings a case which they solve in their way. Actually, after finishing volume 1 I hope the other volumes will have more in store than a new case in every chapter. I am in need for an overall plot and also I wish for higher stakes, more danger and thrill. I want to see them fight and struggle... — Excuse me. This is just me, liking to see my babes suffer — For now, the crew always seemed ahead of everything and everyone and in total control of the situations and though I really enjoy such endeavor of the characters I like, I still need the thrill and action.
I’ll wait what will come in volume 2 and 3 but I sincerely hope my wishes get granted. This could become so awesome! The potential is there! I can see it, I can feel it! Please, please, please!!

جلد اول با تمام جذابیتها و خشونتهاش تموم شد.
اوایل کتاب یکم گیج بودم که کی به کیه و دوباره برگشتم از اول بخونم. بعد متوجه شخصیتها شدم چون یکم تشخیص چهره مانگا که همهشون هم جذابن واسه من که حافظه تصویریم قوی نیست سخت بود.
تصاویر بااینکه سیاهوسفیده خیلی جذابه. خشونت هم توش هست که فکر کنم رده سنیش رو بالاتر از یه حدی میبره.
اختلافات طبقاتی در انگلستان قرن 19 با لرد آلبرت موریارتی و خانوادهش که ویلیام موریارتی جدید میشه مسئول انتقامگیری از اشرافزادههای فاسد.

Découvrir le personnage de Moriarty en justicier sans scrupules, c'est le pari de cette série de mangas qui nous plonge dans l'Angleterre rigoriste de la fin du XIXe siècle.
J'ai vraiment beaucoup aimé ma lecture, et j'ai hâte de voir comment vont évoluer l'intrigue et les personnages !

What a very interesting twist on Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty. I love that this is in the POV of moriarty. The concept of being a crime consultation or deals out punishment is very interesting.

Xem anime mê quá nên đọc truyện luôn. Cứ nghĩ nó chỉ lấy cảm hứng từ bộ Sherlock Holmes thôi, đừng so với nguyên tác để khỏi tăng xông :)))) như đọc doujinshi á. Nét siêu mê, motif antihero IQ đỉnh rất là gu tui. Không hiểu sao mới đầu không hề nghĩ có Sherlock cho tới khi ổng xuất hiện =))) bromance tung tóe, chemistry đúng kiểu tui thích (chĩa súng vào đầu nhau á hihi), mô tả tâm lý hay, nội dung khai thác tốt.
