Good read and the main characters grow throughout the story with Xander trying to get his father’s acceptance and learning what is really important and Ashley learning there is more to life than work. Safe read with a great story. 4.5* Read.
This is a well written story that draws you in and keeps you engaged The characters are human in that they have their own personal demons and you can relate to them I thoroughly enjoyed this book all the way to the last page

Good read and pretty good story. A hunky hero ,though he’s a bit of an asshole at times , he turns out to get his ideas straight. Heroine is a bit of a power addict, little annoying. In general it’s worth a quick read. It’s quite enjoyable for a bit of fun.

The Dreams of the Fathers That Impact the Lives of Their Children
Ashely DeMarco’s dream was to take over the family business from her aging and ailing dad, Frank. But many would not consider the “family business,” a "real business" because the “family business” is family fun, quite literally. She wants to inherit Funland, a New Jersey amusement park where she had shared some of her happiest childhood experiences and time with her single parent dad. Now, without warning, her dad has turned her world and her dreams upside down by selling Funland, apparently ignoring and diminishing the time and effort she had spent working at Funland over the last few years, giving her total focus to reviving the amusement park. But Frank doesn’t want to control his daughter’s life or take it from her, which he knows Funland will do. He only wishes her to understand that there is so much more to life than the family business.
Unknown to her, Ashley has already met the new owner of Funland when she attended her friend’s wedding at the Lazy D Resort at Telluride. There she literally bumped into Xander Spear, heir of Spear Enterprises, but she knows him better as “mystery guy”—the unknown, deliciously gorgeous man whose words and body had seduced her in the hot mist of the sauna and with whom she engaged in even hotter sex on the massage table late into the night.
And Xander has his own battles to fight with a parent. As the son of business titan, Wilhelm Spear, his father has pushed his portfolio onto the shoulders of his second son after the unexpected death of his first son and heir Cav, a fact that dad does not fail to mention to the younger and, in the father’s eyes, lesser son. But now, dad has upped the ante. He is not happy with Xander as the company CEO; in dad’s eyes his younger son doesn’t have the right stuff—he’s a playboy. So, dad’s scheme is to let the playboy contribute the thing he does best—find a willing woman and make a baby. Papa Spear wants to be Grandpa Spear and to skip over the current generation in favor of the next. If Xander wants to run the company, he needs to provide evidence of his commitment to the company by settling down and creating the next CEO which his father can train to be a leader.
Now, thrown together by the forces of Fate or the forces of fathers with their own vision for their children’s futures, Ashley and Xander are caught in a web of their fathers’ schemes and dreams for the future of their families. But, as the children now scheme to achieve the dreams of their fathers, or what they believe those dreams to be, will they destroy their own dreams and hopes—even the unspoken dream of love and family?
Avery Edwards has crafted a fast-paced, original romance packed with engaging characters who touch the reader’s heart. She examines important issues, exploring what role a parent plays in shaping his child’s future and how that involvement impacts the parent-child relationship, and in turn, how the parent-child relationship impacts other relationships, even a romantic relationship. Framing such significant topics within a romance allows the reader to engage not only the head, but also the heart in the reading experience. Baby Contract encourages the reader to consider what is really important in life.

This is Xander and Ashley's story. It's fast moving with lots of twists. No shortage of drama or emotional suspense. They each had something the other wanted, he wanted an heir and she wanted to keep her family business. This is one sexy story that's guaranteed to heat up your Kindle. Grab a cold drink and a comfy spot because once you start reading you'll find it hard to quit. The characters had to grow on me as they were overly likable in the beginning. There's a lot of family dynamics in play that adds to the drama. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review.
An incredible well written fun unexpected romance. This engaging storyline had me addicted page after page with anger, struggles, emotions, hurt, love, romance and undeniable passion in an amazing adventure. The characters are interesting, realistic, and well developed with great chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this fantastic ARC.

Ashley’s father had sold the fun park and she had no idea other than the people there now were sick from the food they ingested. Ashly is standing in the locker room but had o idea it was the men’s locker room until she came face to face with a stranger and her being naked. He asked her name and she told him he would never see her again so what was the point. She also found out it was Spear Enterprises and the man who ran it through Google. All she wanted to do was get out of Telluride and get home to her father before the biggest mistake could be made she heard the owner was a big jerk. Ashley goes to use the sauna and doesn’t seem to seethe man from the locker room sitting in the sauna. He asked Ashley if she wanted a massage since the massage room was next door. Ashley let him have her way with her and he they couldn’t stop. Zander goes back home to find out his father had been spying on him and then announces he wants a grandchild no matter what it took. Ashley goes with her father to New York to meet with Zander Spear. Ashley couldn’t believe the man she slept with was Zander Spear. Zander fires Ashley and she proceeds to berate him. He then wants to make her a proposition but she tells him to shove it and leaves. Zander finally makes a deal with Ashley to have his baby and he will let her fun Funland but he would own the company. Ashley couldn’t believe she decided to go along with the proposition of carrying his baby. Now his father wanted to have him married with a baby and he had know idea how to pull it off. Zander’s father found out that he had entered into a contract with Ashley for a baby not a wife and baby. At that point they had no idea what the future would hold for them since he had been horrible to her the way he spoke to her the last time they were together. Also, Zander didn’t know what was happening with Ashley as she wouldn’t speak to him.
4.5 stars rounded up. Baby Contract is book 3 in Avery Edwards Ranch Boys series. Aside from overlapping characters from the first books it doesn't really fit the theme for the series as neither Ashley or Xander have much of anything to do with Ranches. Xander is the playboy CEO of his family's company Spear Enterprises. The company has several varied acquisitions as they are expanding and their most recent is Funland which is the company Ashley's father built. She always assumed the company would be passed to her so she was anything but happy to learn of the sale. Needing to decompress Ashley ends up having a "casual" hook-up at a spa not realizing the hot guy is actually her new boss.
Xander's father is not pleased with him and demands that Xander provide a heir so he dangles Funland in front of Ashley saying the only way she could keep control was to have his baby and hand it over. For whatever reason she agrees and they go to a fertility clinic. The chemistry between them is red hot so things heat up again before long.
I really enjoyed Xanders character. He was a complete and total jerk but did so on purpose. His past and life experiences conditioned him to never let anyone in, never let someone get close or allow things to get real. His feeling for Ashley scare him so he tries to be cruel and push her away. The growth of character he undergoes from the beginning of the book until the end feels organic and not forced. Readers will be able to relate to him and even though he's not always nice readers will like him.
Ashley is very driven, she has one specific goal and seems blind to everything else around her. Shes abrasive and dismissive to people she feels are below her. She also isn't the best friend or daughter and pretty much always puts herself first. Her transition into a more aware and caring individual is also nice.

*Spoilers* Ashley and Xander are both people who appear to have "issues". Certainly Xander couldn't live up to his father's vision and Ashley was quite immature. She was supposed to be focused on business to the exclusion of everything else but that was not in evidence in this book. Once she realised that her father had sold his company to Xander's her plan of action was to confront him with childish threats and insults. She even got drunk and confronted him again with her drunk threats and insults. Any professionalism she might have had went out the window. Xander was no angel and it is not clear why he is remaining in his father's company where he has little power other than to retain some nebulous link to his deceased brother. Ashley's values need some work as she swiftly agrees to conceive and give her baby away in order to get her hands on her father's company. She then proceeds to get cross because Xander did not tell her his reasons for wanting the baby - even though that would have made no difference to her decision. It appeared that she was transferring her guilt over her choices over to him. Once they finally realised how they felt about each other, although most people who are having a baby together and realise they love each other would be happy, she thought they should not get together just in case they split up down the line. Maybe she did need to do some growing up! Having said all that, it's a page turner with humorous bits!

Ashley has spent her adult career working at keeping her family's business in a good place. The one time she takes time away from it and a bad food poisoning situation breaks out. Xander is the CEO of his family business but he knows it wasn't supposed to be him but his brother that took the helm. His father never lets him forget that he isn't good enough for him. Even goes as far as to tell him unless he gives him a grandchild he'll lose everything. So he meets Ashley at the lodge his company owns and each time she is somewhere she's not supposed to be. Finally he gets her to stick around the sauna even thought its the men section and he talks her into a massage. Things get heated during the massage and they sleep together. Ashley leaves the next day to go home ad handle things only to learn her father has sold the company and when she sees the man he sold to she's stunned because its Xander. Xander can see how bad she wants the company and when things go bad for her Xander offers a solution for both of them. For her to have his child and he'll let her have her company and he can keep his. However nothing goes as planned with his family and their feelings. Will Xander see that there's more to life than business? Will they find their way back to each other?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

ONE EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER!!! Flaming! Avery dropped the bomb and blew this baby out of the water with this impressive storyline and gripping plot, ratcheting up the thrill and adrenaline, blasting this bad boy to life spectacularly. A raging tempest of fervent events chocked-full of daunting circumstances, blasting those swirling emotions into play front and center. Unveiling a foray of drama, angst, intrigue, misgivings, turmoil and mounting suspense spirals, ruling the roost, thrusting this gem into the eye of vortex, bursting it into a tailspin with a life altering, mind-blowing culmination. Add turmoil, escapades, havoc and perplexing situations along with a boatload of confusion, you have one block busting adventure. Witnessing the trials and tribulations, shocking twists and stunning turns, tempting our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The attraction and chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that transform into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job Avery, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
This was my first read of Avery’s work. It was an enjoyable story about Ashley and Xander. Ashley runs/is the VP of Marketing at her family’s company. Unbeknownst to her, her ailing father sells off the company (her legacy), to Spear Enterprises company, which is currently run by Xander.
Their first encounter is an unexpected but steamy one (and not just because it starts in the sauna!). He isn’t totally honest with her, and really comes across as ruthless and manipulative to start off with. A bi-product of this is that he offers to give the company back to her if she does him a HUGE favour… hence the ‘baby contract’.
There is drama, miscommunication, meddlers, loyal friends, interesting father relationships, with some sweet love and plenty of heated passion. The grand gesture had me swooning (as I think Ashley did), and proving his real feelings, finally! Hopefully she’ll trust him enough to believe him!
I could do with a follow-up to this story, so I know what happens to them next. It just felt a little unfinished. Or maybe I’m just greedy with these characters, and want more! Four and a half stars.

Ashley’s “baby” was her father’s company, Funland that he sold out from under her to Xander Spears’ company. Xander’s father wanted Xander to show maturity and stability by creating an heir. That’s Xander’s “baby”.
The story is a fairly typical enemies to lovers trope. Xander was a little hard to keep up with because he kept going back and forth between being a real jerk to being a sweet guy. He was also admittedly a playboy and scoundrel, but we never got to see any of this. The green eyed monster making an appearance may have spiced things up.
Ashley is a fairly typical female character, abandoned by one parent (trust issues), 2.5 girlfriends (either oversharing or extreme partying) and something that she puts first instead of love that shouldn’t (career, art, ill relative, etc). I had a little trouble with her devotion to Funland because it sounded too much like a place around here called Adventureland where carnival rides go to die. I think that may have tainted my view of her although I tried not to let it.
In short, this is a average book that could use a little more oomph.

Ashley and Xander were quite the characters. Ashley is stubborn and determined to carry on with Funland amusement until the rug is pulled out from under her---by her Dad. Xander is also stubborn and trying to live up to the standards of a "ghost" and a father that is determined to kick him out of the company. While attending her friend's wedding, Ashley sleeps with Xander without realizing who he happens to be. Well, she finds out soon enough. This crazy adventure involving business and personal struggles will keep you interested until the last page. Both of these characters needed to grow up a little and they eventually got there. Some times you don't need a contract to negotiate what's right in front of you. Well, it took them a little bit; but they go there.
By the way, this book is the third in the series. I didn't know that, but I bought the two previous books and I'm glad that I did. What a terrific read!! This is the first time I've read anything by this author and I hope she continues to write. Great book!!
I received a free ARC via Booksprout and am leaving an honest review. I enjoyed this book so much that I also purchased it.
So the one thing that bothered me about this book, was the cockiness of the main character, Xander. Apparently he always got his way no mater who he stepped on.
Attending the wedding of her friend at a Colorado resort, Ashley is not in the mood for partying. Having just found out her father sold the company she’s been running for several years, Funland, she feels betrayed by him. Now she has to come up with a plan to get the company back before the final signatures. Having a one night stand should do the trick. No names exchanged, just some great sex. Back home now, she’s ready to fight for the family business. That’s what she’s thinking till she sees who purchased her company! Non other than her one night stand!
Xander’s father is doing everything to kick him out of the company. Then he comes up with a new twist, he must produce an heir in the next two months, otherwise he’s out. This is when he comes up with the idea of making a deal with Ashley. She wants Funland and he needs an heir.
However, not everything works out like you want in life. Interesting story. I would have given another star, except for the way he treated Ashley.
Manipulations and intense emotions It’s an excellent romance very well written, quite hot, the most engaging of which is not the action, but in the force of emotions, of twists and turns. The characters are excellent, especially Xander that I loved to hate. The author has managed to make him loved despite all the bad choices he makes to manipulate or betray the heroine Ashley. Ashley manages an amusement park whose reputation is tarnished when there is food poisoning and she discovers that her father sold the park, all this when she is naked and that a stranger discovers her like that ; man with whom she sleeps on condition of anonymity a few hours later. In short, a fairly epic beginning for her and for this story. It becomes complicated for her when she discovers that this stranger is none other than the buyer of her business, Xander, an arrogant playboy, manipulator who does not hesitate to get rid of her to force her and get her a promise that would help her to have her business back. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This was a cute, short book about Xander and Ashley. Ashley wants her company (Funland) back and Xander's father told him he needs a baby in order to stay on as CEO of the company. They sign a contract that he'll give her Funland back in exchange for her giving him a baby, where she isn't involved or anything. It progresses rather quickly. They both fall in love fast. She doesn't become pregnant by the insemination, but by them having unprotected sex, so when they breakup because his dad finds out about it, she doesn't realize she's pregnant. Her friend helps him win Ashley back. There was no further mention about his dad, or what happened with the company (since Xander was fired once his dad found out about the contract). Ashley's dad is in the epilogue, and they have a good relationship. There was a cute, funny epilogue. I liked the book overall. I'd rate it 3.5 stars that I rounded down to 3 only because it was boring in a few spots and I did skim quite a bit. It was a fun read so I don't regret it, but it wasn't amazing.

It’s all about business. Or is it? At first I didn’t like the main characters. I didn’t like Ashley because she was willing to have a baby and give it away just to have a company. Really a business was more important than a child that she carried for nine months!! But I really despised Xander. I get that he was always trying to please his father, but to lie, cheat, and be so devious to Ashely to get what he wanted which was also to remain as CEO of his father’s corporation. He was willing to hurt someone just to keep his job. He had no feelings for anyone but himself. Only when his father finally fired him was he able to see what he had done, and he was then able to be his own man and finally go after what would make him happy, Ashely. I received the ARC from Bad Boy Update. I love that this is in the world of Avery's latest books! Xander is trying to prove himself to his father, though he knows he will never be satisfied with how he runs their companies no matter how hard he tries. Their latest acquisition is just the thing to finally prove himself once and for all, until his father gives him an ultimatum. He needs a heir, and pronto. While back at the Ranch for her best friend's wedding, Ashley has a smoking hot one night stand with who she thinks is a stranger. Ashley has worked her whole life for Funland and will do whatever she needs to do to keep control, even if she has to deal with the annoyingly hot Xander who turns out to be her one night stand! I love the intrigue, drama and the reluctant love story between Xander and Ashley!
Ashley wanted to take over the family business Funland she has put so much time and effort into the place plus she has some great childhood memories there but her father believes that there is more to life than Funland so he sells the business. Xander is the second child to business tycoon Wilhelm Spear he believes that Xander is too much of a playboy and he shouldn’t be the company’s CEO so his father has told him to find a woman and have a kid and settle down. The two meet each other at a friends wedding but little does Ashley know that Xander is the one who has bought Funland, they end up sleeping together then Xander rolls out the contract but he doesn’t tell Ashley everything. Fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I recommend this book.
Love story with lots of drama. This is a great book that I couldn't put down. The characters were great at first Xander peed me off & I just wanted to slap him but when he was with Ashley after they decided to have a baby he softened towards her he grew on me. Me Spear Xander's dad was a nasty piece of work & because of him Ashley never wanted to see Xander again & I was so glad she had her friends Mandy & Kara to help her get over him but then her world came crashing down when she found out she was actually pregnant. I was desperate for Xander to wake up & admit to himself that he loved her & he needed to get her back.

I enjoyed this story, it is the third book in the Ranch Boys series, honestly neither Xander nor Ashley have anything to do with a ranch both being city corporate people. Ashley is bff's with Kara and Mandy from the previous books. Ashley has a one night stand with Xander, not knowing exactly who he was until she walks into a meeting to see the man whose buying her family business. There is plenty of chemistry between Xander and Ashley, the characters aren't incredibly likable but they do grow and mature as the story unfolds. Entertaining and well-written....
This was good overall. Ashley got blindsided by her dad when he decided to sell the family business, which she loved. She then slept with the new owner (not knowing who he was). He knew and didn't tell her. His dad is not very nice and says if he doesn't get someone pregnant in 2 months, he is kicking him out of the business. Both of these people are very frustrated, but they try and work through it. It took awhile, but things finally work out. The story had some hot scenes and finally good conversation while they worked things out

This was a great read by Avery Edwards. Baby Contract is Xander and Ashley's story. Ashley has devoted her life to working at her dad's company Funland Amusement Park when she learns her dad is selling the company to Spear Enterprises. Ashley learns this after celebrating her best friend's wedding. So when she meets a handsome stranger in the sauna, she and Xander spend the night together. Things turn really interesting when she learns her steam room hookup is the head of Spear Enterprises. Xander and Ashley later come to an agreement- she gives him a baby and she gets to keep her job. Simple plan right? What happens when feelings get in the way?
First time reading this authors work and the "BABY CONTRACT" was a good read , Ashley and Xander are the main characters in this enemies to lovers romance , you could say he was manipulative/blackmailing her into having a baby for him so he could still be CEO of the family business(the same as his dad was doing to him) and promising her she could run her dad's business which he had purchased , it works out in the end though after the drama , ups and downs , lies and some romantic gesture from him until they get their HEA

This was great from the start. Ashley and Xander had chemistry that I think all women want with their man. They both were determined to make it in the business world. Both had fathers that wanted more out of them than they realized. Ashley's father wanted her to be happy and enjoy her life while she was still young. Xander's father was a businessman through and through and only wanted what was best for his company. But through the struggles, ridiculous contracts and a take over, they found themselves in each other and learned to live.
