In my world, family and honor are everything. In my world, women are powerless. In my world, men call all the shots.
My uncle is a mafia king, and my father wants the same power. I am a pawn in their games - to be used and traded.
Two weeks ago, I was promised in marriage to a man I barely knew. Two days ago, I discovered that man liked to torture women for fun. Two hours ago, I begged my mother to stop the marraige. Two minutes ago, I found myself promised to another man... to my uncle's terrifying enforcer.
The only way to avoid marriage to a madman is by becoming the bride of a murderer. He's six-feet-five of sheer muscle and power, and he scares me as much as he excites me. Ruthless, merciless, and without fear, his cruel smirk tells me he is going to enjoy having me at his mercy.
He might own me, but I'm not giving in without a fight.

Redeeming dark and dangerous heroes one book at a time. Skye Jones is an award winning and USA Today Bestselling Author. She writes dark mafia and contemporary romance as SR Jones, and angsty paranormal romance as Skye.
When not writing Skye can be found reading, dog herding, or watching gritty dramas on Netflix with her husband. She lives in the grey, windswept north of England, which fuels her taste for the dramatic and the gothic.
DNF@42% This is a short intro into this series but I don't plan on continuing. I love Mafia romances but it's very hard to find good ones. SR Jones is a new to me author and I don't think her writing style was for me and I didn't like Maya. Unfortunately once that happens it's hard for me to connect. Maya is a spoiled child whose only thoughts are that she is horny. That's right horny and how she needs to stay a virgin so her father can marry her off for a good deal with another family. How she loved having anal with a tourist and oral with two men. Sorry can't take someone series who has no other thoughts going through her head besides sex and shopping.
This was a short quick read that introduced us to the Greek mob. Maya is the daughter of a man who is an accountant to his mob boss brother. Her father signed a contract for her to marry the son of another mob boss. When they begin getting threats her uncle sends his top enforcers to protect her and her mother. Damen, Alesso and Markos Maya has a crush on Alesso and does crazy things to get his attention. Damen is the most dangerous of them all and he scares her. When secrets come to light she will do anything to get out of her arranged marriage to the crazy Yannis who likes tying up and whipping his woman and not in the fun way. When her and her mother go to her uncle more family secrets are exposed. When her uncle agrees he has one of his three men to marry her and when she finds out that the one she wants doesn't want her she is horrified and ashamed at the things that she has done but she is even more surprised at who steps up. This was a good read that makes me want to read the next one. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to the next book.
This is a prequel in the Mafia Vows Series by S.R. Jones. In Maya’s world women are nothing but pawns to be used and traded to strengthen the family. Her uncle Stamatis Kantos is a mafia boss, her father (his brother) works for him and is jealous of all he’s accomplished. Someone has been leaving threatening notes at her house against Maya and her mother. Her uncle sends his three best men, Damen, Alesso, and Markos to guard her and her mother. Maya’s father has brokered a deal to have Maya marry Yannis Pappas so that the two families can unite and be stronger. When it’s revealed that Yannis has some very disturbing proclivities Maya is terrified of marrying him. Her mother takes her to see her uncle to beg him to get her out of the contract her father negotiated. At her uncle’s house secrets are revealed that will change Maya’s life forever.
The Contract is the prequel to The Debt, book one of the Mafia Vows series. It had a good pace, and kept me interested. Maya does come across as a bit vapid, but maybe that's part of her character evolution? I am continuing the series, so I'll find out soon.
This is definitely not a standalone- you'll need to get the next book unless you don't intend to continue. The good news is that, as of today (9/5/2019), all three books in the series are now available. Hooray!
My curiosity is piqued, which was the point, so I'd say mission accomplished. Onward to the next one!
The Contract is the start of the newest trilogy by SR Jones. In this prequel, we get the first thoughts of our girl Maya. Maya comes out as a sweet and innocense woman that is the niece of the mob boss in the city. She is to stay a virgin and pure in all things until her arranged marriage goes through to Yannis, whom she knows very little of.
While Maya is waiting for this to happen knowledge of Yannis and his bedside manner comes out in the local newspaper that makes Maya's mother rethink this whole arrange marriage. And because of this, Maya's whole past and future is rearranged.
I really liked reading this book. The characters were good. The plot was good. Some crazy characters too. This book was too short. Read it for yourself.
A great prequel in the Mafia Vows series. Maya, the niece of a Greek Mafia Don, has been contracted to wed to son of a rival family. It turns out her fiancé is a known psychopath and Maya has misgivings. Now her mother and Maya beg her uncle to help her out of her predicament and his solution maybe scarier than she ever anticipated. A brilliant beginning. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to this intense situation in Mafia Vows.
Maya’s life has been mapped out since the day she was born; her uncle is a powerful mob boss and her father plans to use her to help his status in the family. Recently her and her mother have been receiving threats and her father and uncle give them more security. Maya has no problem with this as she finds them all attractive especially Alesso. What will happen when she learns the truth about her family and she learns she is to marry another? Fast-paced intense and steamy. I loved it!
I’m Hooked – already Reading “The Debt” which Continues this Prologue!!
Oh my!! A family contract has her marriage decided for at an early age. When her future husband is accused of dreadful things there are only a few options to escape… marriage to another and a stiff penalty to the family.
This is from her standpoint – The Debt recaps with both viewpoints and continues their story. Highly entertaining and will keep you wanting more!!

The Contract by SR Jones starts the story of Maya who is the pawn in the mafia game. Maya's Uncle is a top Mob boss so her father has plans for her to marry to bring up their family. Of course the people that they have in mind to marry her too are deadly. Great start to what seems like a great series.
Couldn't get enough of this one. Wow! Great characters. Love my mafia books & this one is seeming to be a good series. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via an arc program.
It’s not horrible, but it’s not great. It does start off boring and slow and even drags on and on, but finally picks up about 70% into the book. There is a lot of thought reading... like A LOT and that’s why I say it’s boring. I’m a dialogue type of person. I don’t need to know the characters every single thought and detail. I know how to read between the lines.
There was a flashback that I thought wasn’t even necessary. You can skim nearly the entire book and know exactly on what’s happening. Didn’t notice any grammar issues or run on sentences though. Book is told in first person POV.
The H sounds dark and very yummy! The h is young and slightly naive but she is 21 and has been pretty sheltered her entire life. Will be interesting to see how she comes into her “own”. Ends on a cliffhanger and I believe there are 5 novels in this series.
I’m 100% intrigued enough to buy the next book thanks to how it ends. It was a very good cliffhanger in case you didn’t catch on!
I'm so glad that I read this first instead of diving into book 1. The idea as a whole has potential, but this series is going to be a hard pass for me.
The lead female is very immature, going on about her little "rebellions" against her parents that they don't know about. Meanwhile there is a whole bunch of backstory between her mother and her uncle that comes out at the very end. I can just feel it leading into something super messy and not at all satisfying to read. The lead male to be, we only see him briefly in this book, again has potential but I'm not sure that it would add up to much in contrast with the leading female.
"My uncle is a mafia king, and my father wants the same power. I am a pawn in their games - to be used and traded.
Two weeks ago, I was promised in marriage to a man I barely knew. Two days ago, I discovered that man liked to torture women ..." SOLD in "marriage" , but she has to remain a virgin. She's trying hard not to be virgin. Her uncle marries her to her bodyguard, who agree to stay married to her one year.
I got this knowing it was the prequel to a series with lots of good reviews. It sets up for a plot in interested, mafia, forced proximity, underlying danger etc, but this just wasn't it. I didn't feel enamoured to Maya at all, it felt like parts were explicit for no real reason. I feel a more like many typical aspects of a dark mafia romance have been \ will be thrown in, but it won't be connected seamlessly to create a story with solid characters and plot.
Maya discovers her husband to be is a sadistic man one she can not marry no matter her fathers wishes, she begs her mother to intervene and she does by going to her brothe inlaw the head of the Greek Mafia Stamis, where secrets unravel and Maya finds herself in another arrange marriage this time to Stamis's enforcer Damien. Well written short prequel filled with suspense, twists, and more!
Maya is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Her father signed a contract literally selling her to Yannis Pappas for 500k. Yannis is physically and verbally abusive even before the marriage takes place. Maya wants OUT, so she makes a deal with the devil...
I loved it. The pot is quick, the story is interesting, the characters are well developed, it’s fun with sassy lead, it’s a great start so I’m hoping will be at fabulous series
Whoooo-ee! Maya is in a predicament that would send me running for hills. The only person to step up to bail her out and keep her safe is the one man that scares her the most. But is she really scared? Let the rollercoaster ride begin!
Loved this book. Now I'm wondering how this with Maya and Damen is going to work. Found out somethings I was not expecting in this book. Wondering if it will ever get revealed. Found me a new author I will be reading more books of.
I had to give this 5 full stars because it was lacking for nothing! Although short and sweet, it was fast paced exciting and you immediately feel affiliated with the main characters. Fantastic content, looking forward to the next instalment.
Of course, I’d preferred it longer, but it has a great build up for the storyline & characters. Plus, the twists that came. I’m going straight to the 1st book by I am definitely hooked.
