Holy Roman Empire, 1527 In the wake of Martin Luther’s religious reforms, Princess Christyne von Heidelbraum is compelled by her sense of duty to help ease the burden of her people. When she stumbles upon a dying man in the woods, she vows to aid him—even when she discovers the arrow shot in his leg was put there by a heretic hunter. With both her physical and spiritual well-being in danger, she must choose between conscience or adhering to the laws of the Empire.
Present Day Doubting her calling to become a hospital chaplain, Amber Carrington takes time off from her theology studies to volunteer with refugees in Germany. Working with children, making a difference, reconnecting with the conviction that once drove her—these were her expectations. An instant attraction to a professional soccer player wasn’t a part of the plan…and she can’t let him distract her from her purpose. As a new Christian, Seth Marshall is determined to put his popularity as a world-renowned footballer to good use. Unfortunately, old habits and public opinions are hard to overcome. When he falls hard and fast for Amber Carrington, his former life—and her no-dating policy—may block his perfect shot for the woman he loves.
A Carol award finalist and Selah award winner, Sarah Monzon is a stay-at-home mom who makes up imaginary friends to have adult conversations with (otherwise known as writing novels). As a navy chaplain's wife, she resides wherever the military happens to station her family and enjoys exploring the beauty of the world around her.
"His lips pulled back in a smile. Innocence and sass. A combination he very well could fall in love with.”
“These Carrington men… You can’t help but love them.” Over the past few years, fans of Sarah Monzon’s Carrington Family series have fallen in love with the Carrington brothers (Trent, Michael, and Adam) and have been eagerly awaiting younger sister Amber’s story. The wait is finally over! With You Here captivates readers with a heartwarming story that demonstrates the power of true love through faith and determination. With You Here can be read as a stand-alone novel since each book in the series has its own storyline, but readers will be so captivated with the Carrington family that they will want to go back and read the first three books of the series.
Two women, almost five hundred years apart; both strong in their beliefs and faithfulness to God. The gift of true love finds them when they least expect it. With You Here is the perfect blend of the past and present, and author Sarah Monzon is at her very best.
“As a scholar, he touched her mind. As a man, he touched her heart.”
In the historical storyline, readers are taken back to the Holy Roman Empire in 1527 where citizens are required by law to remain loyal to the Roman Catholic Church. People who believe in freedom of religion, even differing beliefs within Christianity itself, are persecuted. The rich historical details of the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther, and other important individuals are fascinating. After saving the life of a man injured by heretic hunters, Princess Christyne von Heidelbraum’s public declaration of her religious beliefs is decision that will change her life forever.
“You’re worth waiting for, Amber Carrington.” He paused a moment and seemed to be wrestling with himself. His lashes brushed hers as he closed his eyes and whispered, “And I’m in love with you.”
In the contemporary storyline, Amber Carrington’s volunteer work with refugee children in Germany introduces her to another volunteer, professional athlete Seth Marshall. Seth and Amber both feel an immediate attraction to each other and find themselves falling in love, but outside interferences could destroy their chance at happiness. Through Amber and Seth’s work with refugee children who suffered immensely in their homelands, Sarah Monzon shares the plight of immigrants and asylum-seekers, and the need for peace and love in our society.
With You Here provides readers with a fabulous new book boyfriend to add to their collections. Seth Marshall is a handsome, flirtatious, professional athlete who recently became a Christian and gave up his partying lifestyle. He only has eyes for the one special woman in his life. The chemistry and banter between Seth and Amber will have readers breathless and swooning. The ending is an extremely satisfying conclusion to Carrington Family series, but readers will not want to say goodbye to this incredible family.
With You Here is highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance novels by authors such as Becky Wade, Denise Hunter, Courtney Walsh, and Susan May Warren, and readers who enjoy time-slip novels by authors such as Heidi Chiavaroli, Rachel Hauck, and Melanie Dobson. For readers who have never read a novel by Sarah Monzon, this is the perfect opportunity! You will not be disappointed!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Additional Quotes:
-“Someone told me flirting wasn’t a sin and just a part of my God-given personality. Plus, I found some pick-up lines from this bloke named Solomon. If guys in the Bible can charm lovely ladies, why can’t I?”
-“She wasn’t sure she’d ever get over the sense of wonderment at the thought that the man beside her loved her. It was everything she’d ever read in books or heard from other girls. Butterflies in the stomach. Weak in the knees. And when they kissed? More fireworks than the Fourth of July.”
What a delight to read Amber Carrington's story, younger sister of Trent, Michael and Adam, protective brothers all. Some of my favorite moments in the book are the interactions between the siblings, their love interests and parents. I love how they're such a close-knit family providing such a strong support system for each other, and are instantly available when Amber needs them.
I also love all the sassy teasing and humor. That helps soften the more serious topics that Amber and Seth struggle with like hearing the voice of God, keeping a purity vow in an impure world, being a new Christian and what a godly relationship looks like. Really well done.
Seth grew up in the opposite environment to Amber's Christian home, barely getting by on the streets of London while fending for himself and his sister Kayla. What an encouragement that regardless of the early years anyone can find their way to God.
The historical part of this dual timeline is chock-full of early church history and told through the experiences of Christyne and Lorenz. It makes me count my blessings that I was born in the century I was. It's quite sobering to read about what trials and tribulations believers in the 1500's endured and the price they paid to follow the Bible's teachings.
The romance between Seth and Amber was something of the blind leading the not-so-blind considering the innocent Amber had never dated and Seth was trying his best to be God's man after living the "lifestyle of the rich and famous". So enchanting to watch it unfold. I love how the story turned out for this football player and his darling ministry student, but it seems to me "game on" is just the beginning for this pair. I'm really going to need at least a novella to tie up the happy-ever-after for Seth and Amber, Adam and Olivia too. I'd even settle for an online epilogue. I'm just not ready to say goodbye to the Carrington family, and shouldn't someone be having a baby by now, I'm smiling thinking about all those tough guys becoming dads. Just a reader grasping at straws here...
With You Here is another wonderfully told story, so unique and original, straight from the heart of Sarah Monzon. Even though the author says the series is complete, readers are left wanting more from this fascinating storyteller.
"What do we have in common? Nothing. You, with your perfect little family - parents still married, doting brothers - your suburban, picket-fence life. What do you know of hardship? . . . . So take your messiah complex and go somewhere you're actually wanted . . . . No one needs you here."
And that was the crux of the matter . . . . her calling. Amber Carrington had just flown thousands of miles to volunteer her services among refugees seeking shelter in Germany, in order to confirm the whisper of God that she once imagined to have heard. Instead, it appears that only her doubts are being substantiated; how can she authentically minister to others out of a nearly perfect life?
Many centuries earlier, another young woman began to doubt her faith. Upon rescuing one deemed a heretic by both the emperor and the reformers, Princess Christyne von Heidelbraun reaches a crossroads; one step in either director will most certainly change the course of her life. Will declaring "that salvation is given and accepted by faith alone" become her mantra or her epitaph?
What a beautifully written story; the blending of history and contemporary was perfectly pitched, and as an added bonus; two lovely love stories sweetened the mix.
Have you ever felt called to do something or had a dream, a conviction? In this story, we find two women whose hearts are determined to stand strong even though others say they are wrong. “God doesn’t call the equipped, Amber. He equips the called.” These are words Amber Carrington heard and had to be reminded of because even though she had a strong feeling of being “called” to minister to others, she felt she was lacking experience. She felt she wasn’t qualified to work with others because her life was easy. She had mental voices in her head saying she didn’t understand what others were going through, she was too naive and too sheltered. For Christyne von Heidelbraum, it was a matter of being brave like Esther in the Bible. In the 1500s, life was hard for a woman who questioned her beliefs and was shown how deep a love God had for her. To stand against all she had been taught from the Roman Church. Could she take a stand even if it could mean her death? Both women in their time had someone who challenged them and encouraged them to step out and not be afraid of their “calling.” I love books by Sarah Monzon, she has a wonderful way of blending two timeline stories into one beautiful, meaningful, and life-changing story. This is another of the Carrington family stories. If you’ve read any of the other books you know the big brothers of Amber. This is Amber’s story and I feel Sarah Monzon has handed us another wonderfully, delightful, and deeply moving story. The characters in this book came alive and captured my heart. They went through issues in their lives where they needed to dig deep and really search for answers. There were also bits of the struggles refugee children go through. The desire of fitting in or just surviving. Often we don’t know what another person is going through unless we just listen to them. The author portrayed this very well in her characters. I was touched and challenged in my heart to listen to others so I can minister to them and their needs. To also not be afraid to step out and share God’s love with those around me. If you love dual-time stories, then you have to read this book and the whole Carrington series. I highly recommend this book. I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Y’all, Ms. Monzon creates wonderful, swoon-worthy heroes that will make you sigh with the romance of it all and put you right in your feelings. With Seth Marshall, she knocked it out the park. (Or should I say GOAL!! since he’s a soccer player?) He’s charming, witty, and a bad boy who’s been redeemed. S.W.O.O.N!
And Amber Carrington is a girl I’d befriend. She has a heart for Jesus and a desire to help his people. What more could you want in a friend? Plus I kind of adore her brothers. 😉
Add a princess, a real stinkin’ princess (historical portion of the book), and I was hooked. Christyne knows there’s more to faith but just can’t quite put her finger on what, until Lorenz comes into the picture. I loved her bravery and her blossoming romance with Lorenz. I might have been holding my breath through some of her scenes. If it had been a movie, I would have covered my face with my hands, peeking through my fingers.
All in all, Sarah Monzon took me on a journey I’ve come to expect from her. One filled with deep-seated truths, swoony romance, and amazing research that pulls us right into the scene.
*I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. My review was not required nor influenced and I loved the book so much, I bought my own copy.
Amber Carrington had been called by God to minister as a hospital chaplain. She was so clear about this calling, she enrolled in Bible College and endured years of men questioning her right to be there. Yet, when questioned by a girl in the hospital about how she could possibly know what she was going through, she began to question everything and ran away to Germany to do some soul searching while helping children at a refugee camp.
I was able to relate quite well to Amber and her fear that because she hadn't lived through a dramatic conversion, because she hadn't experienced poverty or a teenage pregnancy, her testimony wasn't enough. That she didn't have anything to offer to a hurting world. But I believe that this is a lie the devil likes us to listen to so we don't attempt to bring the light of the Gospel to those who are in darkness. I loved the way Sarah Monzon approached this and how she showed Amber's thoughts on the matter and then showed the way others saw her ministry. It was quite powerful.
Seth was such a lovable guy. Not because he was a star footballer. Not because he was handsome. But because of his love for family. His commitment to follow the Lord and do the right thing. The way he still struggled with his faith as a new believer and yet turned to the Lord for help.
I loved the way Seth and Amber ministered to the refugee children and the sensitive way in which their plight was shared. The author made the pain they experienced and the ugliness of the world they escaped come alive without adding gory details. The day the children were terrified of the planes flying overhead and the way that Seth and Amber loved them through their fears was so touching!
As with the other books in the Carrington Family Romance series, With You Here has a split time-period narrative – the historical portion of this one taking place at the time of the Protestant Reformation. What a fascinating story this was! When Christyne has discovered a man who has been wounded, she had no idea that rescuing him would turn her life upside down and cause her to question everything she believed.
There is so much to love about this story, including Sarah Monzon's unapologetic way of clearly presenting spiritual truths. While I think everyone should read this, lovers of Christian romance, both contemporary and historical, will want to include it in their library. And to read it, of course!
I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Sarah Monzon concludes the Carrington Family series with a character many of us who have grown up in the church can relate to.
Amber Carrington doubts her call to ministry. As someone who came to Christ early and didn’t stray, she feels she has no testimony and cannot relate to those she longs to minister to. It takes a trip to Germany, a football (aka soccer) star, some encouragement from her big brothers, and the story of a centuries ago princess’s convictions to open Amber’s eyes and ease her doubts for her future.
The historical and contemporary portions of With You Here fit together like pieces of a puzzle, only revealing the entire picture at the end of the story. The romance is sweet and endearing, and the refugee children Amber and Seth work with melt your heart.
The entire Carrington Family series is fantastic, but for me, this one stands out as my favorite.
Disclosure statement: I receive complimentary books from publishers, publicists, and/or authors, including NetGalley. I am not required to write positive reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
Sarah Monzon has a knack for writing stories that explore potentially controversial issues in a respectful and graceful manner. Whether or not I share a particular character's worldview, I can gain empathy and a better understanding of people by reading stories like this (and obviously, reading enjoyment).
Both likable yet conflicted, Seth and Amber pose a striking combination of opposites and commonalities. Amber is a home-grown believer, protected on the straight and narrow. Seth's reformed lifestyle is evidence of his genuine, fledgling faith. Yet they both have insecurities and a fierce love for their families and the downtrodden. Readers are sure to relate to one or both of Monzon's main characters.
One of the best things about reading a series is revisiting characters from previous installments and the Carrington brothers do not disappoint! I highly recommend the Carrington Family series and I'm delighted to add all four to my all-time favorites.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
This was such a fun read! Sarah's books have been on my radar for quite awhile but I hadn't read one before this one and if all her books are as good as this one, I am ALL in! I really enjoyed the dual time periods in this book, Sarah wove them together well and tied the story lines together in a cool way. I loved the character of Seth, anyone that calls himself a daft cow when trying to impress a girl is one of my people! This was a quick and easy read(I read it in less than 24 hours) and it's WELL worth it! I will be going back and catching up on Sarah's other books soon.
I received this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I really enjoyed how this book made me think. It addresses some controversial subject but it is done very well. And it’s the last Carrington sibling book in the series. I enjoyed the split time setting in Germany. I received a copy of this book from the author. All views stated here are my own.
WOW!! I totally love Sarah Monzon’s books. She's an extremely talented author! Writing a story with a dual time line must not be easy and she accomplishes it with a fresh and natural approach, blending both stories in a unique novel that is thought provoking and life changing. You fly from one story to the other without effort, seamlessly. This is the first thing, that you get two beautiful stories in the same book! But the best is that both stories are awesome! Even if they can be read as a standalone, we have been following the Carrington Family story. First, Trent, Michael and Adam’s stories (all awesome, believe me), all with dual timeline’s stories. Now it’s Amber’s turn, the youngest and only girl between the siblings, it’s normal that she has lead a sheltered and easy life. But she has this desire… to fly on her own wings, to do something purpuseful, get out of her confort zone, doing something useful for others. So she decides to pause her theology studies and travel to Germany to volunteer for the refugees that seek shelter in Germany. People that have suffered war, poverty, hunger and rejection, and suffer still from those wounds, for whom she can be useful. She finds herself coaching them in soccer football and discovers that she has to work with Seth Marshall, a famous english football star, nonetheless. Sparks fly, but Amber is not interested in dating, plus Seth has a bad playboy reputation, could he really have changed as it seems? And then the doubts: that she’s not prepared for this mission, that she can’t help them when she’s had an easy life. Will she be discouraged or will she see what God has planned for her? Seth is a new Christian, and wants to live his life in Christ in a new way. But will his reputation ever go away. Will this stand in the way of pursuing Amber, other than her non-dating policy? But then, 5 centuries ago (1527), Princess Christyne Von Heidelbraum, we see another kind hearted woman who wants to do something for others too, in her own Kingdom, where she sees so much suffering and unfairness. So she sneaks out from the castle, disguised as a commoner, and while going through the woods she finds an injured man, pierced by an arrow. She can’t just not help him even if she risks being caught and if she doesn’t know who he is. She takes him to the castle in secret and tends to his wounds. But when she realices this man is being hunted as a traitor to his faith, making him an heretic. Lorenz and Chrystine get to know each other and Chrystine begins to questions her beliefs too. But if she changes her faith, will her life be in danger too? Will she be strong enough to stand up to what she believes? Is her faith in God strong enough? Both stories were beautiful, and I loved that there was so much to learn from both. Both were going out of their confort zone to do something they thought was good, but when others question them, will they be strong enough to stand up to what God inspires them to be right? It’s a dual romance that will uplift you and make you want to live more by God standards than other’s. Trust in God is a great issue and both women’s faith and trust in Him are put to test. But I loved the outcome. It shows, even though we may have fears and don’t have guarantee of the future, God always has our back. And He’s the only one who can bring good even out of bad. So there’s never anything to lose in God’s hands, right? I truly recommend this book! An engaging dual plot with twists and some adventure, and deep and relatable characters that you will fall in love with.
A perfect ending to the Carrington family saga! Amber, the youngest Carrington sibling and only girl, ventures to Germany to help at a refugee center. While there, she meets Seth Marshall, a British soccer star and recent convert to Christianity. While Amber and Seth's budding romance was super-sweet, I found their individual arcs even more compelling. As a theology student who plans to be a chaplain, Amber struggles with insecurity due to her gender and her testimony; as a lifelong believer, she feels less useful than those who have night-and-day, Jesus totally changed my life testimonies. I love both the inclusion of women in ministry and the way Amber's doubts are resolved, both through the story and the author's note at the end!
Meanwhile, new believer Seth sorts out his old life from his new life, and it's fascinating to watch. His desire to do the right thing mixed with old habits, lifestyles, and friends is very believable, and he's overall just a wonderful and worthy hero. I'm not a huge fan of celebrity characters in books, but Seth is so adorable I can overlook his fame. ;)
And I haven't even mentioned the past storyline, which is dynamite: Christyne, a German princess in the 1500s, stumbles upon a wounded scholar in the forest. Lorenz, deemed a heretic by the Catholic church, is running from heretic hunters who seek his life because of his faith. Christyne hides Lorenz and nurses him back to health, forever changing her life in the process. Her story was so fascinating I found myself skipping over the present chapters a time or two to see what happened, and then going back and reading the contemporary story. Christyne and Lorenz's exploration of faith and salvation and what, exactly, it takes to be saved is well thought-out and beautifully explored. A wonderful ending to an enjoyable series!
"Admitting that something in him recognized something in her sounded too much like a sappy chick flick. A rotten sappy chick flick."
I am new to Sarah Monzon's Carrington Family series but am overwhelmed by my love for the family after reading this book. Though it's the last in the series, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone and I didn't feel like I missed out on any of the backstory of Amber's older brothers since the author highlights what the reader needs to know. This emotional, heart-rending story is more than just Amber, an innocent theology student, falling in love for the first time with Seth, a world-renowned soccer player who has just become a Christian. The story addresses a believer's journey into finding God's path despite the naysayers and what trust in God's time and will truly looks like. It also addresses the issue of refugees and their plight because of others' greed, ignorance, and evil. And the time-slip aspect into 1527 Germany during the Reformation and persecution of those opposing the Roman Catholic church is fascinating and enlightening. Lorenz and Christyne's part of the story holds such breath-taking anticipation that it almost feels like a suspense novel as they fully commit themselves to the beliefs of Anabaptists who are being hunted down. Again, they (like Amber and Seth) stay true to their calling despite those who threaten their very lives.
The romance between Amber and Seth is beautiful and incredibly sweet. Seth's persistent devotion is endearing and their dialogue is the best! I'm not a love-at-first-sight kind of a person but their story completely captivated my heart and won me over from Seth's initial declaration of "Amber Carrington, I think I'm in love" after meeting her on a soccer field.
If you enjoy time-slip novels that grip your heart, soul, and mind, this book is a must-read. Now I'm off to devour the first three books in this series and get to know Amber's older brothers better!
I received a copy of the book from Radiant Publications and the author and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
With You Here, by Sarah Monzon, may be the fourth and final book in the Carrington Family series, but this captivating time-slip story reads very well as a stand-alone novel. With beautiful writing and rich historical details, this book is fascinating and very enjoyable. Elements of romance, history, and faith are thoughtfully combined in this moving, well-researched novel. Ms. Monzon uses dual-timelines purposefully and effectively, creatively displaying her genuine talent as a writer. With You Here features compelling contemporary scenes that are made even more powerful by the presence of meaningful historical scenes from centuries ago. With superb pacing, important details from both the past and the present are carefully revealed and connections are disclosed as the story reaches its significant and satisfying conclusion. Even while overcoming difficult circumstances and deep insecurities, the characters in this novel display courage and conviction in a way that is absolutely inspiring. As they wrestle with the consequences of their choices, endeavor to nurture their faith, and strive to find their purpose, the characters also continue to search for truth, hope, and redemption. Throughout this novel, profound themes of fortitude and compassion are encouraging and relevant. With You Here is a remarkably interesting and touching novel. The sweet moments of romance, the intriguing history, and the impactful themes are appealing and thought-provoking. This book is truly engaging and impressive. I recommend it wholeheartedly. *I was given a copy of this book from the author/publisher. A review was not required. The review I have written is voluntary and contains opinions that are entirely my own.
There is so much to love about this multi-faceted story! I’d be hard-pressed to choose a favorite timeline, as they are both engaging and endearing. The characters are dynamic and they each have their own compelling story to tell. I was captivated right from the start and held in delight as each beguiling moment was expertly revealed with eloquent details that swept me off my feet and into the very heart of the stories.
I enjoyed traveling back to the reformation period and gaining a first-hand view at what it must have been like to live during such turbulent times. The historical details and vibrant characters pulled me in and had me holding my breath on more than one occasion. I often thought of my own ancestors who were French Huguenots and left France due to persecution. I was reminded of the fact that God’s people have been persecuted throughout history and even still today.
I really enjoyed getting to know Amber Carrington. The Carrington brothers each have their own wonderful stories, but I have long anticipated getting to know Amber. I appreciate that Amber has chosen to follow God’s calling to minister to others and share her faith as a chaplain. The tender love story between Amber and Seth both warmed my heart and kept me on the edge of my seat hoping everything would work out!
I have loved all of the stories in The Carrington Family series and strongly encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself to enjoy!
(I receive complimentary books from publishers, publicists, and/or authors, including Netgalley. I am not required to write positive reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own.)
Sarah Monzon finishes off the Carrington family series with Amber Carrington’s story in With You Here. Amber is searching for the “rightness” of her calling in the present day. Five hundred years ago during the time of the Protestant Reformation Christyne von Heidelbraum is searching her conscience for the “rightness” of her faith. Both women are introduced to men who challenge them in their searches and may just be part of the answers they are looking for.
Sarah Monzon is a master at writing a dual timeline novel. Each story pulls the reader in so that when she switches storylines there is disappointment at the switch until one gets sucked into the other storyline. I especially enjoyed the change of language style in this novel between the present day story to the one that takes place in the 1500’s. It made the novel easy to follow as the reader switched from one time period to the next. The drawing together at the end of the novel is another of Monzon’s strengths. (ahhhhh!)
I recommend this book to readers of Christian romantic fiction. Both historical and contemporary readers will enjoy this book!
My thanks to the author for a preview copy of this book. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
Oh my. I haven’t read anything by this author yet that I haven’t loved. Her writing style is so unique. I love the historical fiction alternating with the contemporary and how they mesh together in the end to link up the parallel stories. This story was wonderful. I especially liked the British expressions and could relate to them, as my husband is British and I’ve heard every one of them for years. He, too, is a huge “football” fan. She had me in suspense wondering what would happen to the characters from the Holy Roman Empire! Oh my goodness! And she kept us on tender hooks about whether they lived or died! I wanted to skip ahead a couple of chapters to find out their fate! This book is part of a series with returning characters but there are no cliffhangers and they can be read as stand-alone, although definitely best read in sequential order. I highly recommend anything that this author has written. Her work is delightful. For those who may be unfamiliar with Sarah Monzon’s work she writes clean Christian romance, often with parallel stories of historical and contemporary genres.
Have you ever wondered if you have a ministry God can use? Or one He's got for you? I asked that question for a lot of years and that is the question Amber Carrington is asking of herself which leads her to Germany. Using her ministry of writing Ms. Monzon shows Amber coming to realize what her ministry is.
I enjoyed getting to know Amber and Seth. Seth is a very swoony soccer player which I truly had fun reading about.
Dual time novels are one of my favorite books to read. I enjoyed traveling to the reformation period getting a face to face view of what living during that turbulent time must have been like.
I'm only 50% invested in the Carrington family, since I've just read the last two books, but I love this family and I'm sad that the series is over. Family saga stories are a favorite and Ms. Monzon has created a family to love and remember.
I highly recommend this book!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book via the publisher in association with Sarah Monzon's street team. I was not required to write a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved the two stories in this book! In 1527, Christyne learns from Lorenz and it changed her life. I liked reading about the Reformation from a different perspective. The modern day story takes place mostly in Germany, at a youth center for refugee children. Amber questions her calling. Seth is trying to live a new life. The two work closely together, not always seeing eye to eye. But there is something unexpected about Seth that draws her to him like a magnet to metal. I loved seeing Amber learn about herself. I loved how Seth saw Amber. I loved how flawed he was and how he worked to improve himself. There are many twists and unexpected happenings in each story. I won't give spoilers. I will only recommend this book, highly! It was nice to see the Carrington family again. Though this book reads as a stand-alone, I think I will binge read the entire series now.
I really enjoyed the historical side about the reformation. It is obvious a lot of research went into this book. I also really enjoyed the spiritual side of the story. You dont have to have a prodigal son type testimony to be able to share Christ with someone.
The romantic side of the story had a strong pull too. So sad that this was the final story in the series.
Very interesting story taking the reader from a time long ago to present day. A series filled with intrigue and strong characters. Powerful story. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
The final book in the Carrington series is as exquisite as the cover. The first book in this series was the book that convinced me that Christian fiction was worth sticking around for, maybe even write, and each book since has done the same and been even better than the one before. This one is no exception and a worthy conclusion to the series. I especially love that Michael makes an appearance <3
Sarah Monzon will forever be one of my very favorite authors. Her stories never fail to bring out all the emotions and point me back to God. I am continually impressed by her writing, and though she's moved on from the Carringtons, I doubt that will change.
I started reading Sarah Monzon's Carrington Family series late in the game with Freedom's Kiss. Her dual-time stories give readers just a taste of what believers went through before Freedom of Religion became the law of at least our land. With You Here was especially poignant for me, since I grew up Anabaptist as a Mennonite, and I learned pretty young the trials that my forbears had endured for their faith. (If you ever want to learn more, there is a movie called, "The Radicals", that pretty gruesomely details some of the tortures they endured.)
Amber Carrington is having a crisis of belief. As a woman in seminary, she is being bombarded by people telling her she doesn't belong BECAUSE she is a woman. She travels to Germany to serve with Syrian refugees, and to see if helping them can help her hear God's voice again. While there, she meets another volunteer, Seth Marshall. Seth is a brand new Christian trying to live down the reputation he built for himself before he accepted Christ. A British soccer star, Seth lives his life on the world stage. Can the attraction they immediately feel for each other be God's gift to them, or is it something else trying to tempt them away with something they really want?
Amber and Seth are great characters in this story. Amber's crisis of belief is so genuine, and so heartfelt, that I grieved with her at her seeming loss of closeness with God. Seth is also determined to show the world that he has changed, to the point where his teammates now call him "Monk Marshall" because he won't date the groupies, or party with the team. Instead of traveling to Las Vegas with the team when they go on break, he takes that time to go on a mission trip where he can do good. He was a great hero for Amber.
The dual time story was fraught with danger. The "heretic hunters" were a very real thing, and they always seemed more blood-thirsty to me, than someone who was killing for piety's sake. This definitely holds for the Duke, although, with him it also has an element of his being scorned by the princess when he offered for her hand.
If you love historical fiction, pick up With You Here. If you love contemporary romance, also pick up With You Here. I don't think either reader will be disappointed!
Bravo! Ms. Monzon has written a strong finale with this last book in the Carrington series. With the final story centered around Amber, it was nice to have a couple of cameo appearances of other family members. However, this can definitely be read as a standalone. After reading Amber's story, I am tempted to revisit her brothers' stories. This is a fictional family that is easy to love.
Ms. Monzon has given us two fictional heroines separated by several centuries. Both women, strong in their faith, are seeking direction from God. As each is desiring to draw closer to God, love comes to each in unexpected ways.
I loved Amber and Seth as a couple. The witty banter and romantic chemistry were a pleasant foil to the more serious spiritual thread where their separate faith journeys met. Although Amber has several insecurities as to God's direction, I loved her sassiness and spirit.
"If they were ever to really and truly collide, she half feared and half hoped no one and no thing would ever be able to separate them. The force would be too strong."
I also loved the story of Christyne that took place during the Protestant Reformation. I am always challenged by the stories of Christian martyrs. I found Christyne to be full of grit, courageous in a time when women had little rights.
"Was there any greater purpose in life than that? To be used by God?"
I like how the story is told from three separate points of view; that of Amber and Seth in the contemporary storyline and Christyne in the historical story. Monzon expertly allows the reader into the heart and mind of each character, as their struggle to rely upon and trust God is universal, regardless of historical setting.
I look forward to reading more by Ms. Monzon in the future.

I enjoyed this book so much! If the Carrington series has to end, then this is the way to do it!
Sarah Monzon explores what it means to follow Jesus through many phases of Christian life: the new Christian, the "seasoned" Christian searching for reassurance, or the Christian in time of adversity. She expertly weaves a wonderful time-slip novel exploring Christianity, both in the modern world as well as during the Protestant reformation.
The two heroines are compelling. Chrystine, a princess in the 1500s, is torn between loyalty to her father and tradition or following what her heart knows to be true. Ultimately “she possessed a firming feeling in her middle…that God would desire her to love and help all men, no matter the station they were born into or their personal spiritual beliefs.” Amber Carrington, the kid sister to the Carrington brothers from books earlier in the series, has begun doubting God's call on her life. She "escapes" to a center in Germany that helps refugee children where she finds more than she bargained for.
The heroes are equally fascinating. Lorenz, the "heretic", is found injured and in need of care. Seth, the new Christian, is struggling to follow God in his world of fame. Both men have had major paradigm shifts and have to stand for their convictions no matter what ridicule (or worse) they may face. "Seth felt a reverent hush deep in his soul. A kind of still after a turbulent storm, where wreckage was visible as far as the eye could see, but a ray of sunshine split open the gray skies, offering light and hope."
What else can I say. Just read the book. You won't regret it.
And Sarah, can we please have one more book, maybe a novella after all the weddings? Just sayin'...

Meaningful conclusion to the Carrington family series. I really appreciated the author's approach to Amber's calling. When Amber feels as if she "...had no right to be in ministry. No right to help people along paths she'd never traveled herself." she discovers that "I was ultimately reminded that it's not about me. I don't have to have all the answers or live all the lives. I just have to be willing to point people to the One who has." This journey that Amber takes is incredibly meaningful because many of us have felt the same thing at one point or another in our lives. Especially those of us like me who have grown up in faith, in the church, and who may feel like Moses from time to time "Hey Lord--how about you send someone else?!" I was also fascinated by the historical story in this tale, although I didn't quite relate to it as well as I have with previous installments of this series. I didn't know much about the Anabaptists and the progression of the faith in Europe in the 1500s, and it's amazing to see how God could take these dire circumstances to further His kingdom. I hope the author returns to this family at some point in the future so we can see how everyone is faring. I have been with them through four books now, and I feel like I actually know them! I highly recommend this series because each book shows God's strength and care, despite our human stumbling. The faith message is intricately woven into the story so that it feels organic and natural, not a tacked on sermon, and can produce thought and action--quite the feat for a fiction tale!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.
This was my first introduction to the Carringtons and I absolutely cannot wait to get to know the rest of the family! This was a split timeline following Amber Carrington in the present day and Princess Christyne von Heidelbraum in the Holy Roman Empire. Both women are faced with tough choices and the possibility of true love during their journeys.
The Holy Roman Empire is a setting that I’m not that familiar with, but I really enjoyed learning more about. What a volatile time with such violence between religious factions! Not for the feint of heart. Christyne finds herself on a knife-edge with danger and uncertainty on either side of her decision. She must discover if her faith is strong enough to see her through this turmoil.
Amber Carrington is pursuing her calling as hospital chaplain, serving refugees in Germany but she struggles with doubt. She’s unsure if her testimony is enough, having come from a stable home and a loving family. On top of working her way through her doubts, she also has to deal with some major sparks after she meets Seth, the oh-so-handsome football star. Sigh! I adored Seth. Talk about a charmer and so sweet and funny to boot.
I’ll be reading the previous installments of this series ASAP and I think I’ll pick this one back up for good measure. This is a must read for fans of family sagas or a good split timeline. Fans of Susan May Warren and Becky Wade, do yourself a favor and get to know the Carringtons.

Ahh, happy sigh! After reading (and loving!) the first three books in the Carrington Family series earlier this year, I was super excited for Amber's story! With You Here did not disappoint, it was everything I dreamed it would be and so much more! While our lives are different I could relate to Amber in so many ways. I too know what it's like to wonder if God has actually called you to something or if it was actually your own voice you heard, so her story deeply touched me and inspired my heart! I am seven years older than Amber was in this book, but I too made a commitment to purity as a teen, and have never been kissed nor gone on a date, and this story was a beautiful reminder of why I'm waiting for the right man and totally renewed my hope that there is still a man out there that God created for me, and me for him! I loved Seth so much, he is so sweet and such a good man, and I couldn't help smiling every time he appeared on the page! I loved this book so much! I adored everything about it and it was an absolute delight to read! With You Here is right up there among my favorites of Sarah Monzon's books and I know I'll definitely be rereading it in the future! With You Here is without question one for the keeper shelf! I highly, HIGHLY recommend it! Be sure to grab yourself a copy, you will not be sorry!
I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.
I really enjoyed "With You Here." I'm a little bit new to Monzon as an author, and this was my first book in this four-part series, but I connected well with the characters, specifically Amber as she bemoans her lack of a testimony and how God can still use her. Been there! Seth is the perfect mix of imperfection and spiritual rebirth. I totally enjoyed the British expressions and German words mixed in for authentication. Definitely well research by the author, especially the historical story line paralleling that of Amber and Seth. I've never read a Christian fiction book set during the Protestant Reformation, and as the daughter of a minister with a history obsession, I had to learn the ins and outs of this time period as a teen. It was fascinating to see it brought to life in "With You Here," and I felt myself pondering the strength of my own faith should I face similar trials. This book will make you think, make you appreciate what you have, and, inevitably, make you draw closer to God.
