This is the second of this author’s books I’ve read and this is even more disgusting than the last. I loved it. Some of the twists on old tropes of horror were perfect and I read this all in one sitting. My favourite line which perfectly sums up this author’s sense of humour is as follows. “ She was dark like a corner at a birthday party and alive like a gangrenous wound.” I cannot recommend this author enough. Definitely one of the ones that has been overlooked within the extreme horror genre.
You KNOW it's a great book when you can't help but to keep reading, through cringing eyes, knowing you're being taken to that horrific end, and knowing you'll go back for more! Loved all the stories!
With these kind of books that come with a content warning (i.e hype), I’m always curious to see whether they can tell a decent story or if it’s always going to be the shock factor and nothing else. In fairness there are some interesting (though as per the warning not pleasant) ideas here such as the guy who uses sodomy and murder to improve neighbourhoods, and the monster with an appetite for ‘good’ people. The rest are standard unhinged, disconnected from reality psychopaths doing bad things/ bad things happening to innocent people fare. Like a good pantomime, it’s pretty obvious whats going to happen next. What really lets this book down is the poor editing: Lots of spelling mistakes, continuity errors (he becomes she, the protagonist swaps places with the antagonist) and the stream of thought story was far too long and nonsensical. It makes you think the author has rushed it/doesn’t care, which makes you question why you should. So overall to use a youthful term: meh.

I couldn't help while dragging giving that there as something missing in each story, I just couldn't put my finger on it(I still can't). I have three stars bc the title is befitting. There is two stories that are so convoluted, made no sense that when they both ended I was left thinking, what a waste of time and space those two stories he was very proud of, are terrible. As a whole, these stories are mediocre, predictable to me. These are my personal opinions on this book.
Packed shorts stories that carry an entire long story but short without missing parts. I thoroughly enjoyed and immediately got 2 more books by Stearns! If I enjoy the short immensely, that tells me if I can tolerate a longer story by the same author. I CAN! Very happy with this! A must read
this is my first nose dive into Tom Stearns and WOW. i loved it. all of it. the disturbing, the creepy, the disgusting, the vile. the BEAUTY. this was wonderful! i also liked the little blurbs at the end of each story telling you how he came to write it. so so soooo good man! i cant wait to finally read Jenna!!
I loved this for it's pure darkness! Each one was a testament to what distress and evil man can do to his/her fellow being. Love that you are going to continue the final short story! I await it with bated breath it's final release!
