Off World: Expeditions

Rate this book
When the Gate connecting America's first colony in the stars was shattered by a nuclear war back home, seventy thousand civilians found themselves dependent on the US Army's 9th Infantry Regiment for their survival. Barely had the shock of their cut off from Earth began to be understood when a long planned and ferocious assault was launched by their alien enemies, a genetically modified race of iron age barbarian creatures. Only by valiant effort and shedding precious human blood was disaster averted. Now that the immediate danger has passed, the colony and its leadership looks to survival. Expeditions are sent south to trail a defeated enemy and new allies are sought. As they try to cope, one last, desperate message from Earth arrives, bringing, if not help, then hope.

Great read

Expeditions picks up where Ragnarok leaves and doesn't miss a step. Delving deeper into Tera Novak societies, Expeditions continues a very good series.

Nailed it!

Love it when a story hits you right in the feels?
A cast of characters you come to love, endure one hard fought battle after another.
I recognize these characters as people I served with, and under, or wish I did.
With surprises and turns throughout, and playing major riffs on the heart strings by the end, J.F. Holmes takes you across the stars to show what we really pledge our lives to fight, and die, and live for.
