To read the stories and struggles of those early days of activism are inspiring. It's also a frightening reminder of what is at stake if we don't protect women's rights. I'm so glad I found this at the library.

4.5/5 ☆

The book does a pretty good job at explaining the history of abortion and how banning it is actually a tool ti control women not to preserve human life. There were so many gripping stories in it, but it can be too graphic for some people.

The book reads like a history book and less like an interactive novel. if you are reading it for the information you will like it; if not you will find it hard to get into.

It is so sad that after so many years the same issues persist when it comes to abortion and reproductive rights in general (the book also discussed forced sterilization near the end). All in all, it is a good feminist read, just prepare yourself for some unsettling/graphic details.

This book should be required reading for every single person, especially modern day abortion rights activists. I felt challenged, and validated, and humbled by this book. From the concrete tips and tricks of how realistic at-home abortion care could be, to the examination of eugenics and the use of non-consensual abortions and sterilization, this is a dynamic incredible book.

An amazing book about radical abortion activists and their different struggles with the state, liberals, conservatives, and the general milieu of politics surrounding the pro-abortion movement in the US.

It's not a long book--you might be able to get through it in a few hours--but what it lacks in number of pages it certainly makes up for in an exciting and not well known history. I highly recommend this book.

This book is a history of the time when abortion was illegal in the US. It is also a history of the pro-choice movement, the movement that fought to make abortion legal in the US. This is very important women's history, very important history for anyone who believes individuals should be able to make their own choices aobut their own bodies.

Interesting history of the more radical abortion proponents before Roe V. Wade. The inscription on this book was from "The Womyns Awareness House" and it was stamped Carleton College. Interesting how it got to me, and now I will be donating it and it will go to someone else.
