After a perilous journey on the yellow road, Dorothy, Darius, Reo, and Kevvan have finally arrived in Emerald City. But instead of finding the solution to their problems, an unpredictable revelation throws a wrench in their plans.

A little bit of progress in the romance department- and the war with the Raven Witch heats up!

But I will say, I don't know how I'm feeling about the RH aspect of this story. I'm pretty cool with all of the love interests (Reo needs some work, but I understand where the abrasiveness is coming from) but what I don't like is all the jealously and confusion.

I felt like there should have been some kind of discussion on if they are okay with sharing, or at least the fact that she's having feelings for multiple people. W/o that it kind of seems like shes playing the field and that she's cheating a bit/ messing with feelings. Just saying...

Yes, I kissed him in front of the others, but does he think that I’m his girlfriend now?

Ouch. I mean we know its a RH, but none of these characters do so it just doesn't feel good to read about Darius being repeatedly hurt.

Oh and called that surprise at the end right away :P

It's Official 🙌🏻 This series has become one of my favorites I've read in a seriously long time. And it's on Kindle Unlimited!! HOW COULD IT GET ANY BETTER?!?
I grew up Absolutely loving The Wizard of Oz (they played it once a week in music class lol) and this is just an amazing spin on the original. It's the Wizard of Oz but Modernized!
Reo and Kevvan seriously stole my heart this book. Which is actually amazing, because I hated Reo the first book lol~ I kept going back and forth between who I want Dorthy to end up with and tbh, I've come to the conclusion that I want her to be with both, Reo and Kevvan 😂 Ya Gurl cannot choose. And neither can Dorothy it Seems 😏😉!
I'm keeping my eyes open for any updates on the Third book in the series!!! I truly hope this series goes on for long time, because I never want it to end ♥️

Loved it!!!

I loved this book and this series! This book continues from book 1 and Dorothy’s journey in OZ. There is lots of action throughout the book. I love how Dorothy’s relationships with her men are developing... AND that ending... OMG I need more and soon... This series is a must read!

Ms. Herules for sure knows how to keep readers attention and she did it well once again.
This retelling of OZ is GREAT and I so can't wait for the next book being released as the author had left me panting and gasping for MORE.
We need a book 3 SOON. Events are fast and unexpected so, I can't wait to see what Ms. Hercules will serve us here

This book is full of action and adventure. It has some intense moments. Dorothy is learning about life as she is dying. Each character is growing and changing. Prince Lennox and Princess Esmeralda have joined the team. Prince Lennox asks Dorothy to help him steal a ship. By a series of events, Darius, Reo, Princess Esmeralda, and Kevvan all end up at the same location. It turns out the whole group is required to get things done. The end is both a surprise and something you see coming but not the way one would expect. This book was great and I recommend it.
I received an advance copy and this is a voluntary review.

Holy mother of all books! That ending was epic!!! It's the best kind of cliffhanger that doesn't make you want to kick author butt. You are just desperate for the next book.

I'm really impressed with the way the author let's her characters develop. The way you learn more about each person is very, I want to say organic but I don't know if that's the correct term.

Anyway, hurry up and check out this amazing series and the other books from this author are fantastic too!

Originally reviewed on Cyn's Workshop

Definitely for an older audience, Magic Void is the second novel in Michelle Hercules’s science fiction retelling of The Wizard of Oz.

Picking up where the previous novel left off, the story continues to follow Dorothy as she seeks a way off Oz and to Mirus, the star eater, in the hopes of finding a cure for her cousin. On her journey, she has met three unlikely companions while also finding herself in the middle of a war between the Raven Witch and the survival of Oz.

Dorothy is a fierce protagonist with a powerful sense of caring and justice that connects her to the original story. Hercules has kept the essence of what made Dorothy such a great character alive with the softness of who she is, in her caring nature, and sense of justice. However, the added science fiction element, and the way she utilizes her intellect makes her snarky, fierce, and relatable.

The other characters as well have grown up a lot, and their dynamics have gotten more vibrant and more romantic, as the story grosses. It is easy to say that Dorothy serves as a Mary Sue caricature, but what saves her from that are her flaws. The reverse-harem aspect of the story flows, creating tension for all the characters, but they all interest with Dorothy differently as well. Their personalities shine in the way they treat her, in their actions and respect, and it makes for an interesting read to see these relationships develop.

As for the story itself, it follows a steady course. It is, after all, a Wizard of Oz retelling, so the direction of the story is apparent: Dorothy has to defeat the witch and save Oz. Nevertheless, the journey there is both fun and action-packed. The story moves so quickly, introducing plot twists at every edge, it starts with a bang and continues the momentum excellently.

As far as Oz retellings go, this one is good. It has excellent character dynamics, development, and the sci-fi twist blends so well with the fantasy.

With each step forward this group of unlikely hero’s find themselves embroiled in more battles than thought possible! Add in the confusion of hormones and you have yourself an angst filled adventure that you just can’t put down!

This group of characters grows on me more and more and I just can’t get enough of them! I love how Hercules gives you insight into each key character and you see it all unfold from different points of view! It also allows you to see and be part of all the action! She does amazing at crafting a story that doesn’t leave you confused or overwhelmed! When writing a story with so many parts some information could slip away or be missed but no you’re front and center and a part of it all! If you have yet to start this series I suggest to read it now because it’ll suck you in and have you craving more!

Be forewarned, the first two books are enjoyable but the series is unfinished and it doesn't seem as if the author has any intention of finishing it. I broke my own rule of only reading completed series so if you're as irritated as I am by stories that don't have a conclusion I'd give this one a pass.

A great continuation of this series. I was surprised to see where they went and the people they encountered on the way. I am excited to see what happens in the next book and how they all come to terms with what has happened in the end.

Such fun, such fun! Another hit! Plenty of action, drama and romantic complications. Like book one it left me on a cliffhanger and now I will have to wait for book 3 to come out.
