The heroes of the DCU are caught completely unprepared for a pandemic of this magnitude and struggle to save their loved ones first…but what happens to the World’s Greatest Heroes if the world ends?

Darkseid is planning to unleash a virus through cyborg. He does just that but without realizing he infects himself. After he goes nuts, cyborg is teleported back to earth, and everyone begins to get infected. This is a race to see who gets infected first and who can prevent that.
This is a highly paced issue. It starts off with the Justice League fighting together to stop Darkseid once more. After some epic moments (and funny) the virus spreads. The story picks up pace as each page you get a sense of dread. People are becoming infected quickly and the issue ends with the Bat Manor and a few of our heroes might have become the undead!
It's a fun issue. Fast paced, the art was solid (though some weird moments of faces looking odd) and the gory is perfect levels. I want more. A 4 out of 5.
A DC Comics series starring “The Justice League”, more oriented towards horror. A failed invasion by Darkseid generates a plague that threatens to unleash the apocalypse on Earth.
This first volume is well done, the story is a crescendo of frenetic action, fast pace and tension, "The walking dead" merged into the DC universe. The result is a proliferation of zombies! The artwork is also good, accurate, but not too much, with those slightly irregular designs that give an extra touch to stories of this type.
I haven't read many DC Comics stories over the years, so some things I might have missed, but I still like this one and will definitely read the next volume.
4.25 Stars. Actually much better than I was expecting. Even though I think Tom Taylor is a great writer, my expectations were low. Sometimes i get my hopes up for these miniseries & events & they end up being somewhat disappointing. However, this first issue was pretty compelling.
It's been a while since I've been grip by a new series from DC but this one definitely have a strong start and a lot of potential!! I'm in and looking forward the next one!!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this new series...but I've got to admit that it has a lot of potential! I love the introduction to the plot itself, along with all the details surrounding it. Such as Batman's confession and the justified reaction to it. This is one of those plots that is going to get big in a hurry, but in this case I think that's okay. I'm looking forward to seeing how the heroes of the world react.
I’m always in the mood for a good zombie story, and it’ll be fun to learn which members of the league were affected by the virus. P.S. that was a terrible Damian Wayne design.
It’s not often that I read a superhero miniseries as it comes out in single issues - “floppies,” or whatever they’re called nowadays - on a month-to-month basis but I definitely fell for the hype with DC’s new Tom Taylor-penned “DCeased” event. Billed as a true horror-centric miniseries, it definitely piqued my interest. The reality is that, while fast-paced and witty, the first issue isn’t gonna blow away many real horror fans. The premise of a strange supernatural techno-virus turning the world’s population into blood-thirsty monsters is really just your standard zombies-versus-superheroes fisticuffs. Why the four star rating then? The pedigrees of the creative team are undeniable and that earns them an extra star just based on the potential that “DCeased” has, especially now that the set-up seems to be out of the way. Don’t make me regret it, “DCeased.”
I think the origin of the virus is a little wonky, but I'm really excited to have started reading this.
"It attacked through social media, as a disease that bridged the digital divide to the biological, and infected the minds of all who saw it."
This risks being an overly facile critique of social media, but I think it's honestly a reasonably clever way to kick off the end of the world by exaggerating the very real negative effects of social media.
We'll see how vital that metaphor ends up being to the story, but even if it's a throwaway catalyst, it's as good a way as any to send this universe on a path of self-destruction. It promises to be dramatic!
(But why does one of my favorites need to be one of the first to turn?!)
Thank you to my grown son who happened onto this series when it first came out. I just borrowed his Unkillables #1 and #2 and loved them. Now I am going back and borrowing his DCeased collection. Makes me wonder how I let this cool series slip by me.
I love it. A great take off on superheroes turning into zombies. Sure, Marvel has been doing it for years and I read a few of their stories. But to me, I am liking the DC version a little bit better.
Great art and story! Loved the ending of issue #1.
You see? THIS is why Cyborg shouldn't have been in the Justice League.
All jokes aside, this is an excellent start to this series. Tom Taylor has the DC Universe fight against zombies, born out of the Anti-Life Equation in a fantastic opening. After that, it becomes a thrill-ride as we wonder who will fall victim, and who can turn it around for humanity. The artwork is inconsistent, but consider me on-board.
DC and Marvel have been copying each other for decades. First there was Marvel Zombies, now after a decade (or more) there’s DCeased! The thing is Marvel Zombies was lame, just gratuitous violence and no real substance. This on the other hand is a good story that makes sense. Now we know what the anti-life equation is, and poor Cyborg kicks everything off... A good start to an interesting series.
who knew a disease can spread like through the internet, who knew that with each keystroke or even by glancing at a screen can cause ones mind to turn. Can the justice league figure out how to stop this disease from spreading, my guess is the news will spread na hopefully our famous heroes come out it easily. This was an amazing chapter so far and looking forward to the next installment.
The Justice League has just defeated Darkseid or so it seems. He goes back to his planet and releases a techno-organic virus on Earth but gets infected himself. This virus is transmitted through the internet and turns people crazy and dangerous so no one is safe from it. I didn't like the second artist. The story needs a couple more issues to unfold.
