I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.
So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”
Dick jokes are not, Not a sense of humor. They are just talking crude. They are 12 year old boy mentality. It's all male, juvenile male, no matter how old you are, crude talk. Not meant for wider audiences. Why you think they are funny is because the jokes are disgusting. That's why guy think they are funny. The and men's obsession with that body part. Grow up. It isn't humor, its just disgusting. Work harder be more mature and find better things to laugh at than your dick with the guy. Who raised you, you should know better than to inflict that on people.
Following the Mundanes can seriously be exhausting. From the roller coasters of emotions to the almost dying to the Red Lion escapades, there is always something crazy those kids are up to. And you can never expect what's coming next. Some people will surprise you, and some are still only focused on a single topic, never wavering. Such a good time.
I am even more impressed with the second book! The story continues in an excellent way and the characters keep growing in excellent way. The plot is continuing to grow and improve, you need to read this book and the authors.
The first book was very good and this totally changed to boring events about what ended in book 1.Totally disappointed in the author for keeping this story interesting and not lost in love dreams by the hero
Second of these books and it was just as satisfying if not more than the first
The authors have a great sense of humor. Definitely not PG rated but what a lot of fun to read. Really excited for the next in the series. Hope it comes out soon
The Badass bit is the best Stew quote. Some of the humor is juvenile, there is violence and some of the introspection is unexpectedly deep. I liked it.
You can just skip the first half of the book because nothing happens. Starting with chapter 9 the main story continues but it's bad. The characters are inconsistent, the situations absurd and a bit boring, then everything happens at once in a jumbled up way that makes little sense and at the end of the book they still haven't gotten started on rescuing Beth. A lazy half-harted atempt at a book not worth the electricity and time to read it.
Around the central focus of finding and rescuing Beth, we see the Mundanes doing some truly crazy stuff. We see very human emotions and reactions set in the midst of a fantasy world made real, with the set up of a VR MMORPG. it’s crazy, it’s hilarious, it’s sad, and it’s a fun read.
The humans that failed to be recruited by the army facing the Dark Lord have joined the much less formal mercenaries that are fighting him on their own terms. Now they have given themselves a new mission. They need to become powerful enough to save their friend. But they can't seem to get the right type of missions.
RPGLit is just the category that I can think of for this book, although nerdfest is a more appropriate one, since there are tons of pop culture, books, anime, etc, references.
I honestly wasnt sure I was going to like this series, I am not a big fan of books based of games....but omg this is a fantastic and hilarious book, in a fantastic series. I cant wait until book number 3!
Mistakes: I found one place that was missing the word a in a sentence. Plot: preparing to try and rescue their friend. Very drawn out and boring. To much talking about jacking off. Characters: to much childishness about sex in general. 5/10
