في قديم الزمان كان هناك ملك يتزوج فتاة كل ليلة ثم يقتلها إلى أن تزوج إبنة الوزير، وبحيله منها وخوفاً على حياتها أخذت تحكي للملك كل ليلة حكاية مشوقة لتُنهيها ف الليلة التالية وتبدأ حكاية جديدة إلى أن وصلت ألف ليلة، وفي نهاية الليالي كانت قد رزقت بثلاثت أطفال وشفع لها الملك.
