"The Sheriff’s Tender-Hearted Bride" is a stand-alone Christian Historical Romance Novel with no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
"Once upon a time..." ...my best childhood nights had started with this wonderful phrase!
Ever since I can remember, I loved a good story!
All started thanks to my beloved grandfather! He used to read to my sister and me, stories of mighty princes and horrifying dragons! Even now, sometimes I miss those cold winters in front of the fireplace in my hometown, Texas!
My best stories though were the ones from the Bible! Such is the spiritual connection that a cozy warm pass through my body every time I hear a biblical story!
My childhood memories were not all roses, but I always knew that the strongest shelter would be always there for me! It was Him!
Years passed by, and little-Chloe grown up reading all kind of stories! It was no surprise that I had this urge to write my own stories, and share them with the word!
If I have a God's purpose on Earth, I think it is to spread His love and wisdom, through my stories!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have all of Chloe Carley's books. What makes her books so unique is that from the first paragraph you are hooked into the story. There are many books it takes me until the second chapter sometimes to get into the story. However Chloe Carley has a way of getting you hooked very early in the first chapter of the book.
I enjoyed the storyline and I loved the characters. The main characters of this book are Aline and Thomas; but equally important to this story is Sammy, Aline's cat. I enjoyed the cat. The Author must have a cat because the antics of this cat could only be written by someone that has and loves cats.
There were a lot of twists and turns in this book. I thought the pace of the book as it moved from beginning to end was very good. I felt my interest increase as the book went forward. And, I thought the book ended well.
I like that there is no profanity and no sexually explicit dialogue. Just good storytelling; which is what I like most about Chloe Carley's books.
I love reading Chloe Carley books because you can guarantee that it will be a clean standalone with no cheating or cliffhanger. The Sheriff’s Tender Hearted Bride is a Christian romance between Thomas and Aline filled with danger, suspense, drama. The twist and turns make this an unpredictable and intriguing read. I was really surprised her Aunt Miranda didn’t move when Aline moved to Lakestone, Montana.
Having suffered the loss of her husband, Aline faced the prospect of having her home repossessed and having to find a job in a saloon or other unsavory place. Her husband had a lot of debt. In his papers, she found the deed to a parcel of land near Lakestone, Montana. Rather than being forced into a loveless marriage, she went by train and stagecoach to Montana to check out the property. She carried with her the few possessions remaining and, in a basket, her beloved cat.
They made it safely to Lakestone. She checked into a rooming house using most of the money she had left. The room included meals and a bit was left for sardines for Sammy, the cat.
The next morning, she checked the location of the land she inherited with the Sheriff and he offered to go with her to check it out. They found a small ranch with a house, bunk house, and fenced enclosures, but no people and decided it was vacant, which was a good thing. They went back to Lakestone and she prepared to take Sammy and her few possessions to her home.
When she arrived at her home, she met a Mr. Knox when she tried the door and learned her deceased husband had sold the property to this man, Mr. Knox. When he learned that she had no place else to.stay, he offered her a job as housekeeper. She had watched her housekeeper as a child and thought she could do the job and accepted. She had no idea how to cook but the lady at the boarding house she had stayed at taught her to cook a few days dishes, so she was set.
She did not realize that Mr. Knox was a cattle rustler and the job of the two men working at the ranch was to scout out ranches, cut the fences away from the building, take just a few head of cattle, and sell them at auction as soon as they could get them to Westfort.
Will Aline realize that she is working and living with outlaws? Will they try to pin the idea for this operation on Aline? How will all this turn out? Read the book and see!!

A surging tempest of unscrupulous events and baffling circumstances, throw this bad boy into the center of the tempest, blowing this little fella into a tailspin with an unbelievable, mind-blowing culmination. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, deceit, blackmail, lies, mayhem, underlying threats, danger and mounting suspense spirals, ruling the roost fusing this baby together piece by piece flawlessly. Toss in distress, turmoil, shenanigans and outlandish situations along with a boatload of secrets while dodging deadly intentions, you have one block busting adventure. Seizing the moment, witnessing the trials and tribulations, along with astounding twists and harrowing turns, jolting our characters off kilter, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. The characters are complex and original with qualities and depth that transforms into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with such colorful descriptions it gives you a full understanding and realism that flow smoothly. Remarkable job Chloe, thanks for sharing this little fella with us.
Another faith filled story by Chloe Carley to add to her impressive list. This story of a young widow, Aline, that heads to Montana where it appears her future will play out after the death of her scandalous husband back East. She boards a train for Montana and her new home and the first person she meets is the local sheriff, Thomas. What follows is a touching story of Aline's deep faith and trust in God, While Thomas struggles with his own "lack of faith" and the deep secret he is keeping. I give this story 4.5 stars because I felt it was unbelievable in a couple of instances, however it is a good read that I would definitely recommend. I have read all of Chloe's books and have watched them consistently improve. I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review. VICKI FROM WYOMING
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Chloe Carley, and this is my voluntary and honest review. What a great book, full of adventure and the romance between Thomas and Aline. As the Sheriff of Lakestone, Thomas had his hands full trying to keep his secret about his past life and all the cattle rustling going on by gang bandits. It goes too far when a ranch foreman is killed trying to stop them. Thomas knows who is the gang leader but he can't stop him since he knows the Sheriff's secret. What is the secret and will it keep Aline from marrying him? You will have to read the book to get the answers. I highly recommend this book and it won't disappoint you. I had trouble putting it down until the end.
Three and a half stars. This is a good story with a few small issues for me. Aline is a sweet young woman who has been poorly used by her now deceased husband. Thomas is the sheriff who has a secret past that could cost him everything. The real bright spot in the story is Sammy the cat. The attraction between Aline and Thomas is almost instant. My biggest problem is that Aline is almost too “Pollyanna-ish” in her reactions to the bad things that happen to her. Of course, there is a wonderful happy ever after and an interesting extended epilogue you can download when you finish the story.
This story starts out with two unlikely people. One disappointed in her marriage and the other turning to the law after being raised by an outlaw. The tenderness show by parties will touch your heart. The one thing I wish is that Aline really did pay attention to Sammy's feeling about the people around her. Cat's are particular who they like. It has a lot to do with it's owner personality and the cat's perception if a person will hurt them. I pay a lot of attention to my daughter's cat of who he likes and doesn't. It's a great indicator of the person she is dating.
The characters were authentic and believable. Aline is a young widow who had a husband who spent her entire inheritance gambling and then died. She was told all she had left was a ranch in Colorado. When she arrived to take possession of the ranch she meets Sheriff Thomas. He takes Aline to the ranch and finds his criminal half-brother had bought that as well. Thomas wants to protect Aline and help her start a new life. This started an exciting adventure for both of them. A very good read.
The Sheriff's Tender Hearted Bride A Christian Historical Romance Novel
This is a very good story and it is well written about Aline a young woman that is a widow and Thomas the Sheriff that has a brother that is an and Outlaw and Sammy a very intelligent cat. There is several twists in the story but Thomas does the right thing and the outlaws are caught. This is a very good and well written story. This is a very good author
Tough times lead to happiness Aline is devastated upon finding out what her late husband had done. Arriving in Ladeston Aline and Sammy meet the Sherriff who helps her find a place to stay. A trusting brave woman that follows her heart but will it be easy? Thomas and step brother Harrison are very different so who is Aline to believe? Sammy is a loving cat to most but to Harrison so will Alina take it a sign?
I liked this story. It had a lot of detail and circumstances as the story progressed. Aline was deceived by her first husband, spending all of her money and when he was killed leaving her destitute. The only thing she had left was a ranch in Wyoming. She decided to travel there and make that her home. When she arrived her husband had sold that home to Harrison Redmond. You will want to read this story to see how Aline’s journey turns out.
This was a great and exciting story. However, I was disappointed that it took the sheriff so long to stand up to his half brother and come clean about his past. He was abused by his brother & the other gang members yet he suppressed the truth to long. And he did it before Aline came into the picture. I would recommend it.
I enjoyed the book for the most part, though there were a few areas I found to be unbelievable. If Thomas thought Clarence and Lester were wanted for bank robbery, why didn't he arrest them? Also, at times I felt that the story seemed a bit too manipulated. Glad for the HEA. I've read many of Ms. Carley's books, and this is not one of her best.
This was truly amazing STORY I liked how aline came to be in town. And how the sheriff and her came to fall in love but... I did not like that the mayor was left off the hook. . Thomas past was not an issue And it shouldn't have been because the old sheriff should have know about it
There were a lot of things that happened, some I simply couldn’t believe. There were a lot of double-cross and betrayal. I found the ending somewhat anti-climactic but then again, it was somewhat okay. It was a nice adventure though, definitely a nice read.
From cattle rustling and murder to hidden pasts and secret relationships doublecrosses, betrayal, to love and finally justice. Well written. I loved the small town and how word gets out so quickly. Great Christian western. I loved Aline, Her last made her stronger. Loved it.
This book was not what I anticipated it to be but so much better. The characters are multifaceted and realistic in their descriptions. The plots and twists keep you reading.
Enjoyed this novel because I love anything American Historical western romance novels. This was a good story line but not the most exciting book to read. The H was a weak character & h was stuck in dreams of her parents past.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a page turner. The writer told the story so well that I could put myself back in time as an observer and watch the story unfold before my eyes.
