Friend Ilse's review put me onto this little gem.
A young woman returns to her hometown after WWII in Holland. This, after her family were forced to leave in a hurry during the war, we can guess why. Anyway, after the war, she visits the home of the woman (a friend of her own mother) who was entrusted with the safe keeping of the silver and other valuables.
There is a lot in this poignant six pager. The foibles of human behaviour, the tragedy of WWII, and the way we associate 'things' with certain periods of our history, and how our feelings about these objects may change at some future time and place.
Moving.
