Sophie Kinsella had sold over 40 million copies of her books in more than 60 countries, and she had been translated into over 40 languages.

Sophie Kinsella first hit the UK bestseller lists in September 2000 with her first novel in the Shopaholic series – The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic (also published as Confessions of a Shopaholic). The book’s heroine, Becky Bloomwood – a fun and feisty financial journalist who loves shopping but is hopeless with money – captured the hearts of readers worldwide. Becky has since featured in seven further bestselling books, Shopaholic Abroad (also published as Shopaholic Takes Manhattan), Shopaholic Ties the Knot, Shopaholic & Sister, Shopaholic & Baby, Mini Shopaholic, Shopaholic to the Stars and Shopaholic to the Rescue. Becky Bloomwood came to the big screen in 2009 with the hit Disney movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy.

Sophie had also written seven standalone novels which have all been bestsellers in the UK, USA and other countries around the world: Can You Keep A Secret?, The Undomestic Goddess, Remember Me?, Twenties Girl, I’ve Got Your Number, Wedding Night, and My Not So Perfect Life, which was a Goodreads Choice Awards finalist for Best Fiction in 2017.

In 2014 she published a Young Adult novel Finding Audrey about a teenage girl with social anxiety and her madcap family, and in January 2018, Sophie published her first illustrated book for young readers about the charming adventures of a mother-daughter fairy duo, Mummy Fairy and Me (also published as Fairy Mom and Me).

Sophie’s novel, Surprise Me, published in February 2018, presents a humorous yet moving portrait of a marriage—its intricacies, comforts, and complications. Surprise Me reveals that hidden layers in a close relationship are often yet to be discovered.

Sophie wrote her first novel under her real name, Madeleine Wickham, at the tender age of 24, whilst she was working as a financial journalist. The Tennis Party was immediately hailed as a success by critics and the public alike and became a top ten bestseller. She went on to publish six more novels as Madeleine Wickham: A Desirable Residence, Swimming Pool Sunday, The Gatecrasher, The Wedding Girl, Cocktails for Three and Sleeping Arrangements.

Sophie was born in London. She studied music at New College, Oxford, but after a year switched to Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She lived in London, UK, with her husband and family.

I love the author’s adult books. My favorite were her shopaholic series! They were so entertaining and fun.

I did not realize she wrote children’s books! I somehow came across this book at the library and decided to listen to it on audiobook. It’s a very short book about an hour and 15 minutes of listening. It’s just a very sweet story about a mother who can do fairy magic. And the daughter is a fairy in waiting! Their fairy wands are computerized!

Some of the little stories throughout the book feature different circumstances and fun events. The daughter gets to be a mermaid for a while to help a stranded baby whale figure out which direction it needs to go in to get back out to sea! There’s an aunt who does some magic shenanigans on her birthday! Just some very fun and sweet stories. Perfect reading for a younger child.

This early chapter was a cute. Each book in the series doesn't really rely on the others and can be read independently. sweet messages about helping others, dealing with difficult people and the dangers of being overly competitive. I loved that the mermaids aren't in bikinis in this!

CONTENT:
Ella and mum are wearing clothes at the beach in that chapter but you see a lot of thigh in some pics. There is one part where it says people thought what was happening was a miracle but Ella knew it was her fairy mum and the mermaids and I wasn't too keen on that. Otherwise, no issues.

We absolutely adored this book! An absolute must for fans of fairy magic. Ella and her mum are in for a lot of magic mischief as well as magical kindness.

There are four fairy tales of fun with mermaids, pens that can write on their own, exploding lavas and exciting school trips.

A book that you can come back to again and again. Big thumbs up from us. 💖😁🌸

😍 Barnbokstips. 🙌

Loved this! Each chapter is a little story. Makes my daughter feel like she has accomplished reading an entire story as well as a chapter. .I also really loved how each story had a lesson, piece of advice, a good deed. So easy. Can’t wait for her to read them all and for me to quickly skim through them and get lovely little do-go ideas and good feels.

3.5 stars rounded up! Last book in the series and it’s such a cute little 4 book series. I love the whole premise of the fairies in training. I love Sophie Kinsella, and I would’ve really gotten a kick out of this series in grade school!

The last entry in the Mummy Fairy cycle. My daughter loved it. In this book, there is a bit of environmentalism and the usual mayhem with wrong spells. The book is a bit repetitious in times, but it is a pity that the series ends here without a proper finale.

Cute (I loved the illustrations,) but each chapter seemed like separate short stories instead of a chapter book.
