Discover the power of the 51st Directive through the eyes of FBI agent Erica Brewer as she and Washington DC detective Sam Munro uncover a secret government conspiracy that turns the United States Constitution into dry ink on parchment. A hand written letter sent to the FBI by a murder victim unleashes a trail of deceit putting the United States armed forces in direct conflict with each other. The deepest parts of the Internet hold the secrets to a world that will never be the same as Homeland Security Presidential Directive 51 overrides every freedom you believed you had when you woke up this morning. The 51st Directive will scare you, should scare you, and no-one knows it exists. It does.
This was a terrific read, and for the book I’d give it 5 stars (or very close to it), but the editing issues drop that rating to a 4. No one is perfect, and errors can be missed by the best of editors, but this one was pretty bad in the error department. Hopefully, it is just the Kindle Unlimited Version that has the errors, and that purchased books might be error-free. With our country becoming so polarized after the last election, this book hit on a lot of those same nerves, and could be totally plausible which is very frightening. This book will stay with me a long time, as it was that good.
If you like thrillers this book is for you. The 51st Directive was signed by President George Bush after 9/11 (actually on May 4, 2007). This provides the way to maintain government after a catastrophic event. I read on another site that no one really knows the full extent of this directive and even Congressmen have not been allowed to view the text. This story begins when a letter is sent to the FBI starting with "I am dead", and leads FBI agent, Erica Brewer, and Washing DC detective, Sam Marco, on a chase with them as the prey. The highest officials in the government are corrupt and plan to take over the government to remake it into a government following their ideologies. A good read.
