A storm can cover her tracks…or lead the wolves straight to her door.

With the help of his witch clan, Jake Wilcox is looking forward to a happy future with Addie Grant, the woman he’s falling for. There’s just one thing missing: Addie. Sometime in the night, she up and left. He can guess why — she’d sacrifice almost anything to avoid causing her newfound family any trouble. But the big question is, where did she go?

Addie dutifully went along with the Wilcox clan’s plan to protect her from Randall Lenz, the government operative bent on harnessing her weather magic for not-so-noble purposes. But in the back of her mind, a voice insists that as long as she stays in Arizona, the greater the danger to Jake and the Wilcox witch clan.

Heart breaking, Addie listens to her inner nomad and goes where the wind takes her — a place where no government, no witch, not even Jake can find her. But there are two factors working against her desire to remain hidden: her love for Jake…and the magic that, when danger flares like a wildfire, she has no choice but to unleash.

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.

While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.

After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.

This is the follow up to Storm Born and I highly recommend that you read that one first. This is a professionally written series about witches in America and a young girl who never knew she was one.

When she was found, it was by both a member of a large clan of witches and an investigator from the Department of Homeland Security. Addie Grant was born with a special talent that she had no control over and that is how they found her. Jake wants to train her and as it turns out she is part of his clan. Agent Lenz wants to experiment on her because no one knows about the witches. When Agent Lenz finds her for the second time, she decides to run as fast and as far as she can to keep the Wilcox witches safe. So, this is that story. She no sooner gets to New Mexico and the Prima there has her brought to her. Luckily, she decides to help Addie and away she goes to hide in Wyoming with a tribe of Indians. There are no witches in Wyoming. However, when Jake finds her gone, he has his cousin try to find her. Then he leaves to look for her.

It is a love story and mystery rolled into one. Hopefully, these cliffhanger endings will resolve in not too many books.

Oh, boy! Christine Pope has done it again with Thunder Road the second book in The Witches of Wheeler Park series.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Note: this review contains spoilers!
Addie Wilcox has run away from Jake, her one true love, to keep him and the rest of his family safe. Her fear of Agent Lentz is stronger than her faith in the witches and warlocks. And I don’t blame her. I think I would have run too! Jake, on the other hand, is not a happy camper. Addie didn’t leave any note or indication of why or where she went. And he’s pretty sure she is his soul mate, so I can understand him being upset too.
Addie thinks she is safe on the Indian Reservation working at the casino surrounded by the magic of the Indian community. Jake thinks that she would be safer surrounded by witches and warlocks. Turns out neither of them was right!
Because Agent Lentz isn’t what he thinks he is. All of his “test” subjects are orphans with no idea of their birth family. Just because Agent Lentz fits that same category doesn’t mean he has special powers. Does it? Just because he has very reliable hunches and the mind wipe doesn’t seem to have worked as well as they thought. That doesn’t mean . . . No. It can’t. Can it?
And that’s only part of it! In between descriptions of the beautiful countryside, and filling out the profiles of her fascinating characters, the author sets us on a wild ride. First running with Addie from Jake, then with Jake running to try and find Addie, and finally Lentz’s trying to find them both.
It’s a great story full of romance, commitment, and adventure. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. I did not start with "Storm Born" (The Witches of Wheeler Park Book 1); I will try to decide if this is stand-alone or needs to be read after Book 1. "Thunder Road" picks up immediately after Book 1, but we don't know why Adara "Addie" Grant is fleeing from Jake and Wilcox territory in Flagstaff. We don't know why Jake, who is apparently her "fated mate", is after her; how and why Agent Lenz got dumped in Kanab, Utah, after being struck by lightning. Despite the frequent "bring us up to date" segments,I think I would have preferred to read "Storm Born" first. I intend to go back and read it. This is not a horror story, like Project Demon Hunters series, or aliens among us, like The Sedona Files. It is more a supernatural romance, with the emphasis on romance, more like The Witches of Cleopatra Hill Book 6. This book is mainly about the mutually reluctant separation of Jake and Addie, a short version of why they separated, how they now miss each other intensely (overdone for my personal taste), and then finally realize they are "fated mates" and meant to be together. And of course, in the next book, they will have to deal with Agent Lenz, who is hot on the trail of Addie so he can add her to his collection of witches and warlocks. It's a well-written book, with engaging characters and some nice action sequences; but very heavy on separation anxiety.

Thunder Road, Christine Pope’s “The Witches of Wheeler Park Book 2” as usual does not disappoint. The continuing saga from Book 1 brings Addie Grant running away from Jake Wilcox in the hopes that this will accomplish not bringing any harm to the Wilcox Clan from the government operative determined to capture her once and for all. It then takes Jake Wilcox a whirlwind search for the woman he fell in love with. The result brings both Addie and Jake to some serious undertakings to stay ahead of the dangers lurking their paths while discovering their love for each other. This is another of Christine’s fabulous series and is as suspenseful and enjoyable as only one of her books can be. I recommend it highly but you should read Book 1 in order to understand the storyline from the beginning.

Awesome Series! I absolutely love this suspenseful paranormal romance series and recommend it to all those who enjoy reading romantic suspense stories. Thunder Road is Book 2 in The Witches of Wheeler Park Series and will keep you turning the pages—anxious to find out what will happen next. You’ll be totally caught up in this story as there’s lots of danger being that a clandestine branch of the Government is illegally kidnapping and detaining unattached and “orphaned” witches and warlocks and an obsessively determined head of that agency is bound and determined to find and detain Addie. Because of this, Addie runs from her blossoming love with soul mate Jake Wilcox to protect the Wilcox clan and you’ll be captivated by what Jake goes through to search and find Addie to offer his protection to his fated mate…

POPE never disappoints
The second book of the Witches of Wheeler Park Trilogy, Thunder Road, recaptures you immediately, as Addie attempts to distance herself from the Wilcox Clan, her newly discovered family. The primary characters are each focused on getting to Addie, when she herself, finds she has no alternative but to unbridle her gift to save the casino from fire. I particularly find interesting the connection between Addie and the Native Americans of Wyoming. As Pope always does, she weaves a suspenseful plot, that keeps you up at night turning the pages. You most definitely need to read the first book in the series. I found, too, that having read all the previous “witchy” books by her, adds to the enjoyment of this series, as elements of those past novels are creatively interlaced into Addie’s story.

Addie has done a bunk in the middle of the night and Jake is left scrambling to find her!

Will Lenz find her for his secret agency of the Government, a target for their "talented people" division?

Poor Addie. You get why she ran but at the same time you're shouting at her to stay where she is. With similarly powered people, she would hide out much more easily. Jake and his team are having a bit of a time with their first "orphaned" witch that they have found. Jake thought they were making headway, especially on the romance front but after Addie runs off he's not quite so sure of himself any more.

I'm loving hating Lenz! Although I've a feeling that his boss is going to feel my full wrath. Brilliant characters, zippy pace and interesting storyline. Well worth a look.

Not surprising for those of us that have read most of Christine Pope’s books that another great series is in the making. Thunder Road is the second book of the witches of Wheeler Park. Jake Wilcox has found his soulmate, a “new” witch who has the power of weather as her gift, although until she was properly trained, it was more a curse. Adara Grant and Jake Wilcox are in love but Adara is wanted by a government agent who has been following her. She is afraid of causing problems for the Wilcox family and runs away at the end of Book 1. Book 2 continues the saga but will she and Jake be re-united? I recommend reading the book to find out!

Never a disappointment with Christine Pope's books. Thunder Road is the second book in "The Witches of Wheeler Park" series, this books picks up at the end of the first book. Addie is hiding for her life, while Jake is doing everything to forget about his encounter with Addie. The story is one that just kicks you in the feels as you read about Addie and Jake's separation. The writing is great and characters get more development as the story moves. It's a great follow up to the first book. I did receive an ARC, but this does not affect my thoughts or opinions.

That fucker deserves more than just headaches from what the hell he's been doing 2 people over the yrs especially since he won't leave Addie alone!! Even though she's scared she wants 2 help protect the natives from things cause of how she was being humble of doing what's right in spite of what might happen 2 her. But it looks like she can't get what she wants but she does have a love 4 a good man. The natives r really slacking at protection!!

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Thunder Road by Christine Pope is the second book in The Witches of Wheeler Park series. We are meeting more of the Wilcox Witches in this spin-off series (The Witches of Cleopatra Hill and The Witches of Canyon Road) and the heart pounding action keeps ratcheting up. I absolute love Jake and Addie. Their story has me biting my nails and sniffling into tissues. Once again, Christine Pope writes an immersive tale with such attention to detail that at times I could smell the food and feel the Arizona heat and visualize the Wyoming scenery around me. This book picks up right where the story leaves off in Storm Born (Book 1) and should be read in series order. There is no resolution in book two, it does set you up for the next book Winds of Change.
Although it isn't necessary to go back to the Cleopatra Hill series, I absolutely loved the reads and found that reading from the beginning series gave me a deeper appreciation of the characters and the basic storyline.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading a copy through Bookfunnel.

Thunder Road finds Addie Grant on the run from government agent Randall Lenz. The government wants Addie and others like for their powers to use as they want. Addie runs away because she believes that is the right thing to do for the Wilcox Clan. Addie will do whatever it takes to keep Jake and his clan safe.

Jake wants to make Addie his wife and was so disappointed when he wakes up to find Addie gone. Jake loves Addie so much that he goes after her hoping to catch up to her before Lenz. Jack finds out that Addie is not the only witch to have gone missing and that Lenz knows more than he is willing to tell.

Addie hopes to go so deep in hiding that not even Jake can’t find her but that will soon prove to be very difficult with her powers. Although Addie has learned to control her powers since she left the Wilcox Clan her powers are still a little out of control when she gets mad or upset which could be fatal.

Thunder Road like its predecessor Storm Born started out with action and never let up. The characters were all just as amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat rooting for them the whole way. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to see what direction Jake was going to take. Jake and Addie both kept me on my toes from beginning to end. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

I highly recommend Thunder Road to all fans of fantasy and magic. One click your copy of Thunder Road today! But before you do I would like to suggest that you read Storm Born before reading Thunder Road in order to get a complete picture of what is going on.
