My entire world was turned upside down the day my mum died. I feared what my life would become when an aunt I never knew about came swooping in and threw me into the unknown. She was rich. I couldn’t even afford a pack of gum. We were complete opposites, yet I wanted a fresh start in life, and she was promising to give me that. I just had to live with her for a year, until I graduated college. However, from the very first day it became clear that I was completely out of my depth. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up, not if I wanted to stay off the streets until I could find a job to support myself. Everyone at Kingsley Academy was in a league of their own. The girls were high-class, yet as fake as Barbie dolls, and the boys were handsome with that appealing bad boy edge. Especially Kaiden Kingsley. He was charismatic, athletic, and sexy as hell. He also hated me so much he was willing to do anything to send me back to where I came from. And I didn’t even know why. He was cold, cruel and twisted in a way I could never compete with, yet I found myself gravitating towards him. Secrets, lies and deceit. Everyone reeked of it. I wanted answers—needed them. Before my mum died, I thought I knew everything about her. It turns out, I didn’t know her at all. There’s a reason she left all this behind; a reason why Kaiden and his elite group are on a mission to punish me. And I’m going to find out.
WARNING: Strong content that may be a trigger to some readers.
Huh. 3 stars, because it had nothing new. This is so "same old sh*t" as it can be..
1.1) "There's something in the water" pretty boys, slutty mean girls, 1 normal girl. 1) mom/dad dies, rich aunt/uncle/grandma turns up, who heroine never even knew excisted. 2) poor heroine moves into this new town, new PRIVATE school of rich snoobs who all hate her (for no good reason) 3) heroine is a voyeur and gets hot and bothered when he sees hero fuck OW 4) heroine loses all brain cells around hero and humps his leg like a cat in heat (it does not matter, if she is sexually assaulted, insulted etc before).. hero breathes against her neck and heroine is "moaan" and cream panties. And then she is like "i am sick. I can't believe i let him do that to me, after.... "(well.. you and me both, sister.. but it got old after 10th episode of same behaviour) 5) heroine gets seriously sexually assaulted MULTIPLE times, she even knows it was sexual assault, but she never tells because a) she is no rat b) nobody would believe her. And she goes back to get more, maybe waiting to get penetrated next time. 6) party 24/7, every underage kid comes and goes when they like. No parents around 7) heroine gets thrown in the pool at a party. Heroine can't swim 8) rival school. Heroine going into rival school party. Rival school hot dude makes googly eyes on heroine. Hero turns up and they get into fist fight. Heroine has UNKNOWN REASON loyalty to asshole hero and she mashes rival dude with a bottle and/or finds a garden hose and hoses water at everybody. 9) Everybody hates heroine, but somehow she gets invited to a private yacht / boat trip with all the cool/snobby kids. Why? Makes no sense. Hero is there with OW all over his lap. Heroine goes to bathroom, hero follows and they fuck without condom. She is dirt poor, so 100% she is not on birth control. But who needs to talk about that stuff... And they never wash up, he pulls up his shorts and she does the same. I can imagine the smell and that cum... But ofc, nobody else notices. 10) Not only does this book have secret underground fighting ring, it ALSO has secret underground racing ring, where all the bored rich snoobs get their rocks off. Beats all those teen books with just one of them...why choose when you can have both (what is a teenage rebel book without a underground fighting ring.. or a illegal car racing?.... A original book......) 11) cops bust that little illegal fighting/racing party. Heroine takes the blame, so that hero can run away (it is his last strike or something if he gets caught). What a sweetheart.. bless her heart. But she did say, she does not care about her future or have any plans, so there's that. 12) she goes "camping" with the rich kids. Not campfire and tents. Rich folks lave luxury housing and all those rooms and scenes with the hot tubs and bikinis. And alcohol.. and rival kids showing up. Geez. I feel like i read it before somewhere .. 13) heroine is all "give me answers, stop the lies". But when her Aunt actually wants to talk to her, heroine is like "no, fuck that i won't talk to you, i am sure you only lie" and avoids her for weeks. ... what?
I have read this same story so many times with minor adjustments and it is just sad. And the worst is heroine behaviour, that she does not report serious sexual assault and she is "slave to her betraying body". That she takes all the abuse and at the same time humps his leg.
I absolutely adored the wrong crowd by new to me Author Lisa Helen Gray. Another romance bully book to add to my favourites pile.
I hate this feeling; this vulnerability inside of me that I didn’t have before. I’ve never had anything to lose and now I do.
Ivy has been thrust into a world of the elite, not knowing that they hate her. Not knowing why they hate her. She’s vulnerable, she has her walls up and she’s strong. She’s going to fight back and find out what the mystery is even if it kills her.
Why does he have the power to make me forget?
Ivy battles with her heart and her mind constantly because she wants answers and she knows Kaiden is at the heart of the puzzle that she needs to work out but she can’t tamper down the attraction she feels towards him and she hates it. The banter, the constant push and pull is awesome.
Surrounded by hate, lies and deceit Ivy tries to piece together the puzzle of what is happening around her, whilst trying to battle with a hot AF crew of guys and the biggest bitchiest girls ever.
Kaiden... I want me a piece, and the twins. How about all of them? I’ll be greedy and claim all of assholes! Kaiden is broody, confused, alpha and oh so swoony when he lets himself be. He is fighting a massive battle, because he has been conditioned to hate Ivy. But his body and his heart is responding differently.
The Wrong Crowd had me on the edge of my seat, it was gritty, gripping, suspenseful and damn well hot AF! It made me shout, scream, sigh and laugh so hard I didn’t know if I was coming or going. I was feeling very stabby throughout the book and i love it when that happens. The scenes between Ivy and Kaiden had my heart pounding.
If you are loving the bully trope as much as me at the minute then this is the book for you!
Ivy grew up dirt poor and neglected, when her mother dies she ends up meeting her Aunt Nova who wants her to attend Kingsley Academy giving her a chance to start afresh. Ivy doesn't want handouts and makes that incredibly clear so when she arrives to her new home she is surprised that not all promises are met. She meets Kaiden Kingsley who is the next door neighbor and makes it clear he doesn't want her there and will do everything he can to get her to go back where she came from.
Ivy realizes quickly on that there are a bunch of secrets about her mother she wants to uncover. Dealing with the bullies next door and trying to find out the truth turns difficult until Kai begins to realize that Ivy is completely innocent. She knows nothing about her Mothers past and the stories they were told may in fact be riddled with lies. Can he get Ivy to trust him?
This was full of angst but it was a fascinating bully romance. Kai's anger rolls off him and you want to know what is going on with Ivy's mom. I wasn't sure where the story would go and it continued to surprise me. Terrific story with a bit of a cliffhanger.
One of the most recent tropes that I have found myself loving is the Bullymance's aka Bully romances and if you are lucky they come sometimes with an RH feel to it as well. Wrong Crowd has Ivy going to live with her aunt who turns out to be really wealthy and living in their family mansion. This is a surprise to Ivy as she didn't realize she had any living family beside her mother and she definitely didn't grow up in wealth or any hint of it. Where was her mother's family, when Ivy was struggling and her mother needed help? When Ivy returns though, it isn't with open arms - it seems that the neighborhood is angry and vicious that she is even here. The thing is she doesn't know why and it's not like she knows any of them. Being here , Ivy will discover that her mother wasn't the person that she knew and that something happened to her which caused her to act out and that it was covered up as of course we know that's what people with truckloads of money are definitely famous for - sweeping up incidents under the rug so that it doesn't cast a scandal on the family name and tarnish their reputation. Of course, the incident had a domino effect on Ivy's mother's childhood friends and now their kids hate Ivy with a passion and are going out of their way to make it clear that she doesn't deserve to be here let alone live and be one of them. What will happen though when the current generation realize that the stories they grew up hearing aren't exactly the truth and that Ivy isn't like her mother? Wrong Crowd was an amazing read and finished on a major Cliffhanger which I was like NOOOOO as it just means we have to wait for ages for the next book to find out what happens next. If you are like me and loving the current trope, then Wrong Crowd is a book to add to your reading list.
I read it cos it said it's bully romance and had good reviews on amazon. There is nothing more but sexual harassment in this book. It's a bit too much. Girl gets touched intimately without her permission 2 times withing 12 hours by 3 boys and then goes to a party taking place in their house. Wtf? Evening ends up with rape attempt by a 4th boy. I didn't like heroine 1 bit. She acted impulsive, primitive and against logic. I didn't like similarities to paper princes such as twins or leaving heroine in the middle of nowhere after car ride to the town. Books ends with cliffhanger but I'm not even interested what happens next.

It had me so hooked and on the edge of my seat. I was angry, i was happy and it was confusing at times but I so enjoyed it! Ivy is just loveable. She has had a rough life and she’s still a good person! But having her aunt come in and save her pisses her off, then to be throw into a pack of wolves pisses her off even more! Everyone hates her, everyone is a bully but the worst one is Kaden Kingsley and he has determined that she is his to bully and torture! We should hate Kaden he is a walking red flag. We should hate his friends and brothers but you can’t help but for in love with them! Definitely worth the read! But also note this books ends on a cliffhanger!
Can I say this is my first Lisa Helen Gray book but I can tell you will all certainty it will not be my last! I love bully books and Lisa delivers a show stopping one!
Ivy ends up living with her aunt after her mom dies. Her aunt is wealthy and lives a lifestyle Ivy is not used to and frankly doesn't want. Ivy goes in just wanting to make it until she can leave.
Kaiden the mysterious boy from next door. She first sees him have a lot of fun with a girl in his room. When Kaiden and Ivy meet he is nothing but horrible to her. He lives an entire different social tier from her.
Kaiden is confused as to why he has to be attracted to the one person he is supposed to hate and Ivy is confused as to why she is attracted to the one person who has made her time here hell. As they navigate the secret and lies surrounding her family and his, they fall in love, both battling all the forces that are trying to break them apart.
Lies, secrets, betrayal, and an asshole, all things I absolutely love in a book, and Wrong Crowd has them in spades. I never knew what was going to drop next.
The development of both Kaiden and Ivy in this book was phenomenal to read. Character grow and development is a must have in a book to make it great.
And what about that chemistry? Yes, Kaiden and Ivy have some super hot, make you stop to fan yourself sexual tension.
Lisa Helen Gray had me hooked from the very start of this book and I cannot wait to see what she does next. I love the bully troupe and have read many different, and Wrong Crowd is definitely at the top of my favorite list!
If you like bully you need to read Wrong Crowd now! You can thank me later!
3.75 stars Loved it alot....drama, chemistry, characters....
Kaiden Kingsley. He was charismatic, athletic, and sexy as hell. He also hated me so much he was willing to do anything to send me back to where I came from. And I didn’t even know why. He was cold, cruel and twisted in a way I could never compete with, yet I found myself gravitating towards him.

I started this book thinking that it would be a cliché high school bully romance, but while it does have some common elements, the story was pretty unique. I really enjoyed reading about Ivy slowly uncovering her family secrets and forming new friendships. I loved the character dynamics because all the interactions seemed real and nothing felt forced. I liked how the guys had believable reasons for hating Ivy and how she stood up for herself. I also liked how she didn't have an overly tough girl persona like many heroines in bully romances. The cliffhanger has me dying to read the next book!!
Absolutely loved this! Thought it was a standalone but now I have to wait for book two which really sucks as the cliffhanger was a bitch!! There were a few errors throughout the book but nothing to make me lose interest. The only thing that may confuse people is when one minute Ivy's mum was called Cara and then in one part she was Cora. Other than that, outstanding
I loved it, our heroine is strong and even though she is confused and doesn't know what to believe she stands up for herself and has so much sass. The hero ended up being lovely but at first I wasn't sure. Definitely a different type of bully read.
There were too many things on this book that reminded me of Paper Princess and Boys of Brayshaw High. But that ending though, I need the next book asap!
I will be keeping my review quite short and sweet, just so I can make it completly spoiler free and not give anything away.
I'll start off by saying one of my favourite genres (or whatever you want to call it) to read is a bully romance one. The whole love/hate relationship but times a million has always been one of my favourites. The tension and drama and complete hate is just something I love to read and as I love this author anyways I was even more excited for this book.
Ivy and Kaiden are characters you'll just love to read about. You see it through Ivy's eyes so you experience her confusion with her. The drama and angst mixed in with their chemistry was a perfect read for me, I loved the story and I loved the characters. I'm really glad this author went off from her normal and took a chance on something a but different to what she normally writes, I loved it (if you didn;t already know that lol).
I was hooked from the first few chapters of this book and can't wait to see what she does next.
Pages: 236 My rating: 4 Read other books by this author in the future: yes
I am writing one review for both books and post it with both parts of the book.
I have read several books written by this author. I like her style and there are always unexpected twists. And she did not disappoint with this series. The good point is, that she did a duet and it was long enough to tell the whole story. The plot is a mystery because a poor girl gets to live with her aunt and she finds out a lot about her family history and her mums life. And there are so many secrets and lies which have to be unraveled for all the young adults involved in this story. It is a dark romance, at the beginning of the first book with bullying. In the second book the main secrets get unraveled but by then the bullying has stoped. And I enjoyed both books.
Pqp ruim demais. Não sei pq leio esses livros ainda. Na verdade, eu sei: pq eu gosto. Mas pohaaaaannnnn q coisa ruim eu peguei dessa vez, nam! E ainda acaba em cliffhanger!!!!!!!
I ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK! This book had me hooked from the very first page I couldn't put it down. I immediately felt heartbroken for Ivy. Not only did she just lose her mom, not that she was much of a real mother anyway. Then Ivy gets thrown into the rabbit hole just like Alice in wonderland. But even worse, everyone hates her because of her mom's past but she has no idea what anyone is talking about. She doesn't even get a chance to catch her breath and she's being tortured by the boys next door. Kaiden and his twin brothers Lucca and Ethan and their friend Grant. The secrets just keep getting deeper and deeper. She can't trust anyone. The Author's writing made me feel Ivy's emotions coming off the pages. At times the suspense was so intense I couldn't read fast enough and my heart was pounding and I loved every minute of it. It's exciting and had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. The ending had my screaming NO!! I EXTREMELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE! I am so excited I can't wait for the next book.
If you like a bully to lovers romance with a great plot, this is a good one, but there are some trigger warnings.
Ivy is forced to go live with the aunt she never knew she had. Day 1 of living with her rich relative, she meets Kaiden Kingsley who lives right next door. He hates her on site and she has no idea why. Ivy had a rough life with her drug addict mom who didn't give a shit about her, and she immediately distrusts her aunt who is hiding something. She's angry that her family had all this money and she lived her life never owning one new thing, and never knowing where she was going to sleep or get her next meal. Kaiden and his brothers aren't making it easy on her being there either. She knows everyone knows something she doesn't and she's hellbent on finding out what it is.
The plot is actually pretty good. It's not just about the love-hate relationship between two people. It's so much more than that. There is a lot of action, lies, distrust, sneaking around, spying, corruption, etc. I like how this book is multifaceted and you don't know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are for most of the book. There is a huge cliff hanger at the end, and book 2 is a great ending for it.
There are some trigger warnings. At the beginning of the book, she ends up at a party where she is sexually assaulted. No sexual assault is ok, but it's not graphic and it's not a 'major' assault if there is such a thing. She was groped against her will, and her top was torn off in front of people she didn't know as a means of embarrassment.
There are so many twists, turns, and revelations and it made the book impossible to turn down. I saw some bad reviews on it before I began reading it that said it was predictable and basic, but I definitely didn't see it that way. You thought you knew what was going to happen then you ended up being wrong. The cliffhanger at the end catches you off guard and makes you want to immediately pick up the second book.
Not my favorite romance. First of all, I hated Ivy's personality in the beginning. Yes, I understand that she is a fish out of water and is used to fending for herself but she should be appreciative that she has a house and money. Her attitude was annoying. Also, in the beginning, why was there unnecessary sexual harassment? We could have been introduced to Lucca, Ethan, Garret and even Kaiden without those stupid scenes. Also, I absolutely hated Danielle but that is to be expected because she is the quintessential mean girl. However, I loved Selina. I loved her spirit. Getting to the fundamentals of this book, the writing was good. It wasn't a slog to get through. The mystery was pretty well laid out. However, what I didn't like was the animosity between Kaiden and Ivy essentially disappeared in a chapter. If Kaiden has grown up with the notion that Ivy's mother enabled his mother to die, how did he forgive her so fast? Even though I know that it is completely irrational because Ivy and her mom are two different people, Kaiden was brain washed. Also, I didn't feel Ivy and Kaiden's relationship. It just seemed fake. I was hoping for this book to be in school but it leads up to the first day of school which wasn't what I wanted. Overall, I just don't think there was enough angst for me that was believable. I don't think I'm going to read the sequel.

I was hooked from the moment I opened the book till the moment of her last breathe. Ugh, you have done it again Lisa!! Just because you have money doesn’t mean you are worth anything. They nicest people are sometimes those with nothing. I loved this story so much, Ivy and Kai, the brothers everyone. Why why why.....I want the next chapter. Kai just kills me completely the whole scene with the tent and they way you could see and feel his fear. Just, wow, I have read everything Lisa has written (that I could find) and I am hanging on for more!! I need more!!
OMG what a freaking cliffy yet again..... Now I have to wait, yet again..... Reel you in and another cliffy again..... Loving this a lot!! And really loving Ivy's character. She's so strong but when you read it you will understand why she has to be. Lots of twists in this one, hot sex scenes and Kaiden seems hot AF too. If you love the bully genre YA \NA books then I highly recommend this one!! Andi really hope we don't have to wait to looooong for the next book. Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
I love books with angst and bullying. Dont get me wrong, I am not minimising the horrors of bullying, however, sexual assault is much worse and dire than bullying. What they did to the heroine does not make the boys bullies, but makes them psychopathic perverted criminals.
No matter what that person has done, sexually assaulting them is not acceptable, nor should be used as vengeance or scare tactics.

I want to start off by saying that I am not a fan of the bully trope, I never understood why the heroine fell for the "hero" when he was abusive and mean, so I was a bit hesitant going into this book.
I have been a fan of Lisa Helen Gray's books since I was in college nearly five years ago. Lisa reached out to me and asked if I wanted an ARC of her new book 'Wrong Crowd', and I immediately said yes. I was hesitant going into this book, worried that one of my favorite authors would produce a book that I wouldn't like and that really scared me as I love all her books.
I shouldn't have worried. I loved 'Wrong Crowd', I couldn't put it down and ended up reading through the night. It gripped me that much, I felt that the relationship wasn't abusive or uncomfortable. In a way, I understood how Kaiden felt and in some sense, it felt justifiable. There was this constant tug of war between the two characters, they couldn't control their feelings for each other or understand the situation that they were in the middle of. It was really compelling and intriguing, both characters with heartbreaking backgrounds.
As a reader, you're following the story in the eyes of Ivy and experiencing the secrecy and the confusing situation along with her and for me, I was confused about Kaiden but also was championing their relationship from the start, something that I had never done before with this trope. It just felt like both characters had been told different things about each other and were consumed within the lies of everyone around them. Ivy had found love and comfort in the last person you would expect and that felt very real and exciting.
Ivy, our main heroine, moves in with her aunt after her mother dies. She is introduced into this world of the rich and is confused as to why everyone hates her, especially when they have only met her. She meets Kaiden, our hero, someone from the offset who has shown his hate for her. The closer that the two main characters become, the more secrets and lies are revealed around them. They have this strong sexual connection between them and they can't keep their hands off each other. Some scenes were so steamy and added to the built up angst between them. It made their connection that much stronger.
Both characters have so much development throughout the novel.
I loved 'Wrong Crowd', I loved the secrets surrounding Ivy's mother and aunt, and I loved her battle to find out the truth to why everyone hates her and her late mother. The reasons why some characters want Ivy gone ASAP, and to why others are finding out the truth along with her.
I loved the way Kaiden and Ivy fell in love, Lisa Helen Gray, yet again made me feel all kinds of emotions. I loved finding out the secrets that some of the characters held and I loved finding out why everyone seemed to hate Ivy. I can't wait to read more from Lisa Helen Gray as she seems to always keep me gripped until the very end. If you love the bully trope, then you'll love this book and if you're not to keen on the trope, then you'll still love this book, as it keeps you gripped without going too far. Lisa always has an amazing ability to tell serious and mature stories without making it cheap. I loved the story between Kaiden and Ivy, I felt that the book was serious, gripping, heartbreaking, steamy, romantic and exciting all at the same time.
Make sure you pick up your copy because you won't regret it!!
This story starts out well enough! We’ve got out emotionally damaged Heroine and our bullying hero!
Some of the things that happened were actual sexual assault and I have no idea how I feel about that and also about how everyone sorta downplays it? And then the H just moves on from all that!
The story itself was kinda repetitive, the thoughts of the H kept being repeated which I hated because umm we know, she said this exact line in the last chapter but meh whatever!
Let’s talk about Ivy! I liked Ivy! She didn’t take anyone’s shit! She was straight up and stood up for herself. That’s what I like in a main female character. She doesn’t know love, she doesn’t know how to do it, she doesn’t trust and she’s got all these super hot guys who keep talking in circles around her! But overall I kinda liked her!
Leta talk about Kaiden now! Him I liked and hated at the same time! He was such a little shit to Ivy in the beginning and then he wanted her to just forget about everything and move one with him! The fire scene was something else! Kaidens true emotions come out and I really liked that! So yeah he’s basically you typical bad boy bully reformed for the emotionally damaged girl who he was taught to hate!
The story itself? I hated how they let other people plant the seeds of hate into their hearts. Haye for someone they didn’t know. They held her mom responsible for the actions taken by their parents and honestly, that’s incredibly shitty! Yeah they grow up and all that but still! The reason for all their hate was incredibly stupid, all the while knowing their father was a grade A ASSHOLE! So yeah, they could’ve used their heads a bit too but what can I say!
The ending left me hanging and while I didn’t completely love this story which would entail a desperate need to read the next one, it did hook me enough to grab the next as soon as I found it.
There you have it folks, if you like bully romance you’ll probably like this but def not as much as you loved bully by Penelope Douglas!
Cheshire Grove is a whole new world, a whole new crowd. It’s filled with lies, secrets and deceit. With wealth, beauty and power…"
Lisa helen gray presents us a power hungry world and a beautiful broken girl who struggles to survive in it.
"Being in Cheshire Grove is either going to make me or break me. I knew that from the start. It’s high time I stopped letting their words get to me, stopped the past from defining me."
When Ivy monroe's mother dies leaving her with a aunt who she never knew existed her entire world changes.Ivy is defined by who her mother was and itz harsh to watch people judge her character by her mother's choices. What I loved about her is shez more mature for her age and she stands up for her mother when she finds what happened to her. When her aunt (mother's twin) fails to stand against people who killed her, this girl whom her mother hated stands strong for her. Yet Ivy was a little flawed too..But that makes her more realistic and I liked her character very much.
Kaiden Kingsley is pure fire who will burn us through if we aren't careful.A complicated asshole who stands strong in our hearts espite being a bad bully to ivy. What I loved about him was he was willing to see the truth about ivy rather than being judgmental like the rest.He stands strong near her when he realizes she is innocent.
"Money isn’t everything, Nova. People survive without it every single day."How money and power makes people do horrible things is heart wrenching. Hope Ivy's mother gets justice and Royce Kingsley gets what he deserves. All the unexpected twists had me cussing around and I hate this suspense.
A perfect 5 star read and worth every penny!!cant wait to see what happens..
Wrong crowd is book one in the Kingsley academy series. I have to be honest, I didn’t read this book in one sitting but I did read it in one day. I read this book in instalments throughout the day. I had trouble reading it in one go but I couldn’t stay away from it for long. After her mother dies, Ivy is sent to live with her rich Auntie Nova. She doesn’t want to be there but she was never expecting the hostility from everyone else. Everyone hates her for her mother’s actions but refuses to tell her what her mother did. I really hated the way Kaidan, Grant, Lucca and Ethan treated Ivy. More so Kaidan and Grant. They hated Ivy for something her mother had done but refused to tell her way they had hated her. They were determined to break Ivy. Ivy was determined to not let them win. She was also determined to find answers about her mother. Not all is what it seems. That being said, halfway through the story I started to love Kaidan. I liked that he started to see Ivy wasn’t what he thought. The chemistry between Kaidan and Ivy was clear to see and I loved them together. I really hated Danielle! I loved that Ivy never backed down when it came to Danielle. She gave it back and didn’t care about the repercussions. I liked Selina. She was good for Ivy. I loved Ivy’s reaction to Luke. I was cheering her on when she said the speech she said when she first met Luke. Ivy was hurt but she wasn’t a push over. I also started to slowly like Nova. That being said, I wanted to shout at her to be honest with Ivy. But it was soon clear to see the fear she had. The way this story ended has left me needing the next book now. I need to know what happens!
This is my first book by Lisa Helen Gray and now i'm sitting here wondering where she's been all my life. Bully romance trope has been my go to for the past few months and let me tell you...this book delivered. The angst, drama, twists, turns, deceit, mystery...... I was absolutely hooked from the very first page to the jaw dropping ending.
Ivy is sent to live with her Aunt Nova (who she didn't know existed) after her mom passed away. Nova is very wealthy and it leaves Ivy feeling uncomfortable and confused. Where was this family her whole life while she lived with her junkie mom and struggled just to eat? It was hard for her to open up and be accepting of her new life. Things get even more complicated when she meets the gorgeous guy next door, Kaiden.
Kaiden has been raised to hate Ivy because of something her mom did and he, along with his brothers and best friend Grant, make her life . Ivy wants to know WHY they treat her this way and WHAT her mom did to them to warrant such hatred towards her. But digging up the past may just put her future in danger.
The more time passes, Kaiden and his boys realize that Ivy is not her mom. Kaiden and Ivy's chemistry is scorching and so hot. I LOVED them together. The twins are hilarious and as mean as Grant was, even he seemed to come around toward the end.
This book dug its claws in me and didn't let go. The mystery and suspense had me glued to my kindle. The drama and angst absolutely made this story for me. The book ends on a doozy of a cliffy but I cant wait to see the secrets and lies come to light.
This is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Helen Gray and I’m not kidding you, it is incredible!! 🤩
The storyline does remind me of some other well known books - The Elite Kings by Amo Jones, Paper Princess by Erin Watt, Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy just to name a few. It has the whole bully vibe that we’ve all grown to love and adore recently and it’s been done amazingly well!
Ivy and Kaiden... I literally don’t want to say anymore than that! 😂 these two are one of the best couplings I think I’ve ever possibly read. Ivy is tough as old boots and Kai is a straight up rich bad boy. They come together so naturally. Kai gets a little sweeter than I would’ve initially thought, but it actually happens quite gradually so it doesn’t seem like a big deal. There’s no insta love, thank goodness! 😅
This book has some serious twists and turns and questions - absolutely none of them are answered here. I’m struggling to find any further information on if there’s a next book, when it’ll be released, etc. You’ve been warned! I totally don’t mind waiting though - this book was so good, I’ll be reading it again anyway!
There’s some of the hottest sexy scenes ever, adorable twin fools that literally tag team every chick they get their hands on, teen drama, adult drama, and an abundance of secrets! I’m dying to know all the missing answers!
Great cover, beautifully written, fabulous storyline, amazing characters. What more do you need in a book!? 🥳
I did not finish this. I will never support a book that sends the message that sexual assault is ok because it comes from someone attractive. Is it ok when unwanted touching comes from someone unattractive? No! Anytime a girl is touched without her permission, IT IS NOT OKAY. Why do authors propagate this message?! It makes me sick. And the heroine in this story is much like many bully romance stories out there, she doesn’t like that the guy forced himself on her, but he’s so hot that she thinks she wants more. And she doesn’t tell anyone about it, and she hates the guy. He treats her horribly. But he’s hot. So it’s okay. My blood is boiling at the stupidity of this concept. I’m fine with reading a bully story. But I want consequences for the sexual assault—like the girl genuinely hates or fears the assaulter, which means she is not attracted to him because of his horrible behavior until the situation is redeemed on whatever level it can be, or it never is reconciled. I hope girls have much more respect for themselves than the main character in this book. Because women DESERVE to be treated with respect. Even if they don’t get it in a book, we should see how harmful that is to a girl.
