This is sucsh a fantastic book that I'm going to read it again. We don't have enough books on important topics that are written for the average person to understand. I can't make my way through most books on menopause as they are too serious and medical. Northrup has a sense of humor and knows how to get our attention!
Christiane Northrup is a board certified MD, specialist. As usual, she is extremely funny as she relays key points. She has so many gems to teach and has very inspiring encouragement. Preventing common issues that come up at Menopause, we can live such amazingly and vital lives. Also, she discusses inherent strengths that not only don't diminish with Menopause and beyond, but we can create even more value in our lives and for others because of it. She delves into relationships between men and women with many enlightening remarks. She focused also on women's self-esteem and how to enhance it. About points of disagreement: I am keeping an open mind, still considering a few of her philosophical views about the causes of illness. I do believe that the body and mind are intrinsically intertwined and that we do influence our health tremendously with our outlook on life, diet, lifestyle, environment. I am not yet convinced that it is always the mind that causes bodily problems at first, in all cases, if I understand her correctly. The exact issue is hard for me to explain well. Overall, though, I enjoyed this book tremendously and learned great things. Very fun to listen to.
I actually bought the audiobook but I really didn’t like it. The information is very mainstream, not alternative and her jokes are really stupid and only suited for a North American audience. She seemed to try to make women with menopause feel like they are great in a used car salesman kind of way.
