Four years ago, she lost her virginity to her best friend.
What happened to her best friend? He skipped town and ghosted her.
What happened to her? She had his baby.
After four years in the military, Cody has returned to town, and Nina wants nothing to do with him. Unfortunately, that proves hard for her to accomplish since they’re both working at the same bar, and Cody is trying his best to break down her defenses.
What if Cody had a good reason for leaving? Can he convince her to give him a second chance? Will Nina tell Cody about their daughter? If she does, will he be able to forgive her for not telling him she had his baby?

Nina's baby daddy is back in town. Except that Cody doesn't know he's a daddy. And Nina doesn't want him to find out. She was a rich girl, and he was from the wrong side of the tracks. They were best friends, but crossed that line just once, and then he left for the military. Her parents disowned her when they found out she was pregnant. She works two jobs to support her little family and to be able to go to school to make a better life for her precious daughter. Cody's grandmother helps her out by babysitting little Lillian, and it looks like she's trying to play matchmaker. Nina and Cody have a lot of misunderstandings to overcome before they get to their HEA. I love their story - everything about the characters and their situations seems so real and true to life. This was an easy and enjoyable read.

This is another really great read for me by this author. I really enjoy the quick wholesome steamy stories that this author writes but the treats to a longer novella style book are just plain perfect. This is one of those novellas where the girl sleeps with the guy, gets pregnant but the guy has left the picture. However, we have a few twists and turns in here that make this story feel real and unique. Meet Cody, Nina and Lillian and travel down the rough and windy road to hopefully a HEA.

They did not communicate with each other. If they had done that, things would have been different for both of them. She can't be upset when he actually finds out the truth from someone else. She should have told him and let him make that decision. Its a respect thing. She might like him enough to sleep with him but not enough to be honest.

A hot, spicy, and emotionally deep second chance romance! It is well written, consistent, enjoyable, and very interesting. The secrets, ups and downs, witty banter, and humour add to the overall enjoyment of the book. Loveable characters; the chemistry between them is intense and off the charts. Definitely recommended.

Nina is shocked to see Cody, her daughter's Father walk in to her work. Finding out they will be working together makes her nervous he will discover her secret. When the truth comes out will all be forgotten on both sides? Is love strong enough to conquer all?

This one is another one of my favourite stories. There are a lot of times I’ve wanted to smack Cody in the head, he’s so dense. Everyone knew except him. Even though, I still loved him. Him and Nina deserved their happy life.

Alexia Chase never fails to impress with her writing.
I really enjoyed this steamy second chance at romance story. A lack of communication leads to secrets being kept. When those secrets are told, will they still have their second chance or will he say goodbye for good?

Will he stay once he knows about what he left behind
I love Alexia Chase's stories and I'm Not Leaving did not disappoint. This is a secret baby / second chance romance story between Nina and Cody. Their story is lovely but also heart breaking at the same time. They have a history together that cannot be denied and a living reminder of their one night together. The issue is that he does not know about the little "bun in the oven" he left behind when he left town and went into the military. Now he is back and they are working together so it will be hard for her to keep the secret but she does not want Cody back in their lives because he left without telling her. Once he finds out will he leave again or will he stay and make things right?
I really loved this story as it was realistic and the characters, both Nina and Cody and also the supporting characters were well written. Cody's grandmother is a hoot and does a little behind the scenes scheming to get these two together.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Characters = 3/5 Plot = 4/5 Romance = 3/5 Mystery = 2/5 Action = 1/5 Darkness = 0/5 Humor = 0/5 Stars = 3½ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Would I recommend this book = Yes Would I read future books by this author = Yes
I loved the plot. I loved that it focused on a story line and not just intimacy.
Nina and Cody had their ups and downs with me. Both seemed to be a tad immature in the beginning. When everything was out in the open they were really likeable.
I loved that this book showed the difficulties of misunderstandings and miscommunications. The lost time and special moments had me crying so many times. I was glad that they could find their way in the end. The heart and heat were so amazing. The only thing that threw me off a little was some punctuation issues that weren't enough to make me stop reading.
This was my first book by Alexis Chase and I enjoyed reading it. The chemistry between Nina and Cody was hot. This book definitely entertaining and a page turner.
Raised by his grandparents since his parents were addicts. Cody the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Kind, smart, quite, & a loner except for his two friends Randy & Nina. Both rich kids. Randy being the typical rich jerk. But to Cody he was a friend. Nina was Cody’s best friend, but he wanted so much more with Nina. Cody never wanted to tell her because their friendship meant more to him. Not to mention her parents would never except a kid from who came from addict parents to go out with their daughter. Cody cannot have the love he wants. But he can have Nina as his best friend. To Nina, Cody was her rock, life saver from a life of chaos, entitlement & dysfunction from her family dynamics. To escape Nina would stay at Cody’s grandparents’ home. They loved her. When Cody’s grandfather passed, he was in a lot of grief. Nina wanted to be there for her best friend. When they went to escape the funeral, they’re emotions got the better of them & their friendship changed that day. Could they have a future & admit to one another that there was more than friendship between them. Or was this just a way to have a casual encounter together? The next day Cody was going to open to Nina & tell her he loved her. He wanted a future with her. Unfortunately. Randy his so-called friend changed all that with a lie. A lie that made Cody run away into the military. Randy decided to be cruel & he told Cody that he & Nina loved each other. That their parents were planning their wedding. This news changed the course of Nina & Cody’s lives. Cody left Nina in the wind. What he didn’t know was that he left a little of himself with Nina.
While Nina’s parents were into lifestyle, & what society thought of them. They didn’t bother to care about what happen to their daughter. Which is why Nina would usually hang out at Cody’s grandparents’ home. She felt safe, secure. Cody’s grandma knew that these two kids had a special relationship. Grams was just as socked when her grandson left without telling anyone that he joined the service.
4 yrs. Later Cody’s back in town. He wants to have his friendship back with Nina. Gram’s welcomes Cody back with open arms, but he doesn’t understand why Gram’s is babysitting this cute, little cubby three year old doll named Lillian. Cody wonders if his Grams needs money, he will help. She doesn’t need to take in a child. The papa of Nina's doll Lillian is back in town. Except that Cody doesn't know he's a daddy. Nor does Nina want him to find out. Grams has told Nina to tell Cody the truth. But she believes he never loved her. That he just wanted her V-Card & leave. Her parents disowned her when they found out she was pregnant. With the help of Grams, Nina works two jobs. Completing school to make a better life for their precious daughter. Gram loves watching her great~ granddaughter. But she also wants Lillian’s parents to be a big happy family. Can that happen with the misunderstandings that have overshadowed Nina & Cody? Can they overcome the past to start a future? This novel had real life situations that stemmed to true. I recommend reading this HEA story.

If you are looking for a quick second chance romance that packs an emotional punch then I’m Not Leaving is your book. Angst, love, smut, people finding their way back to each other, adorable kids.. it’s got it all. My only complaint is this whole book is based on assumptions and lack of communication. This is a pet peeve ‘trope” for me, but I still enjoyed the book. I love that Alexia can give us a quick story but still give us substance, it’s quite the talent. Great characters, amazing chemistry, a plot that comes together even with it being such a short read. If you’re looking for something to read and you’re on a time crunch, definitely pick this one up.
I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable for the most part. The characters were interesting and likable with a few exceptions. Randy was a jerk and I wish that he had something bad happen to him. Cody was too trusting and Randy took advantage of that. Communication is key in all relationships and all the stress and angst could have been avoided if Cody and Nina had just talked a little bit about their feelings. Lillian and Gram were great additions to the story. I liked how the story ended but I wish there was an extended epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.
Out of all of Chase’s short stories, I’M NOT LEAVING has been my absolute favorite. Not as favorite as RECKLESS SUIT but very near. I mean RS was an age gap. And age gaps are the absolute best. Am I right? But man did this one hit just right. It was so very heartbreaking at times seeing Cody and Nina struggle through the hurts of revisiting their past and working on finding a future. But like I am always saying about second chance romances, so much heartbreak could be prevented if they learned to talk to one another. Still, this book was fantastic and had me in my feels. 5 Stars!!
I fear i am in the minority, this just wasn’t my cup of tea.
It was a quick read and pleasant enough, but Cody was a limp lettuce and I didn’t buy into Nina .
If Nina and Cody were such good friends, I can’t believe they never mentioned Randy and that neither of them liked him. Nina gave Cody her virginity yet they didn’t speak about the goosebury Randy.
What happened about the threat from Randy to Cody?
TBH I’m surprised i read it all, i think i was hoping it would get better.
Such a great story. A case of many misunderstandings and lots of hidden feelings. Love Cody and how gentle he was but that he has always loved Nina. Although I understand how hurt Nina was by him leaving, hiding Lillian and keeping that secret was unforgivable. Especially after finding out why he left. She needed to be groveling as well. That’s 3 years of her life he missed. Loved the story. They had amazing chemistry together.
I go through phases where I want something quick and easy to read but I usually regret my choices as I am woman who likes details. This, though lacking some of those details, was still a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed this one, short and sweet. Very good read.
Baby mamma or baby daddy drama!! This has emotionally low anguish through the story. With the third friend who needs enemies. The sexual tension was Exquisite and the scenes hot.
A good storyline giving these characters a second chance with a secret baby thrown in. I liked how they changed over the course of the book and his grandma was the best side character.
This was an awesome book. A little angst, friendship and sexy times. Friends to lovers to a wonderful family. And a little drama and meddling old people.
Like most short stories, they tend to lack depth. I am not fond of stupid miscommunications either that can be solved in 2 minutes. The overall story line was ok.
