Being a fan of Geronimo Stilton books, I expected to enjoy reading a Geronimo Stilton story in a graphic novel form. Unfortunately, I wasn't as entertained as I had thought. I could see the book being popular among some of my students, especially those that already enjoy the Geronimo Stilton book series. This title had Geronimo and his gang going back in time to save the Gutenburg Press from the paws of the Pirate cats. The pages are filled with historical information on the creation of the printing press and how it worked. I applaud the author for including informational text within the comic format for those both readers that may be reluctant to pick up a non-fiction book, and those that enjoy both text formats!

I must say that I did not feel drawn to continue reading this graphic novel. I often enjoy reading graphic novels because the drawings often add more meaning to the story than the words. In this title, I felt that the drawings were very reminiscent of cartoons. They were simple, straightforward, and added little to no additional meaning to the story. I could see where a child would enjoy reading this text, and would not hesitate to recommend it to someone already drawn to the Geronimo Stilton series. I simply think that this book was not meant for me.

Geronimo Stilton and his friends go back in time to stop the Pirate cats from messing with time.
He went back to 1455 in Germany to save Gutenberg's first printer from being stolen. He went back
in time through the Speedrat a ship invented by Prof. Von Volt. My favorite part was when the cats
made an effort to build a printer but ended up with sore everything and no hideout.

Want your kids to learn about Johannes Gutenberg’s movable printing press in a fun and creative way? This ninth volume of the Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novel series is something I would recommend!
The story begins with Gernomo Stilton attending Frankfurt’s Book fair in Germany which is the biggest writer’s conference in Europe. He’s about to deliver a lecture but then he’s notified by professor Von Volt that the Pirate Cats have gone back in time again to try to change history. This time (pun intended) the three Pirate Cats are going to back into history and try to become the first to print before Gutenberg’s invention of the movable printing press! It is up to Stilton and his usual gang to stop them and the gang consists of Benjamin who is Geronimo’s nephew, Benjamin’s friend Bugsy Wugsy, Geronimo’s cousin Trap and Bugsy Wugsy’s aunt Petunia. I love the adventure in this work and I enjoyed learning about the history of the difficulties faced by Gutenberg in inventing his printing press and also a bit of how his movable type pieces helped with his press work in comparison to how material’s were usually printed during that time. The innovation changed history!

7 yr old review: "I liked it because it made me feel like 'are they gonna steal it or not!?' and I really liked that."

I'd have liked this book a lot more if Petunia's only job wasn't just to cook and clean and generally look pretty. Very annoying and offensivex

Otherwise, Geronimo Stilton's a good take on the educational story genre. I'd rather give kids The Magic Tree House, but that's more due to nostalgia than anything.

This book is really cute! These are definitely kids/middle grade books but I think they’re still enjoyable. I would have loved these as a kid. Geronimo Stilton-the main character and also a mouse- travels in time protecting the time line from pirate cats and you learn about history that actually happened. This one was about the Gutenberg Bible. Oh, also Geronimo Stilton is a writer which makes it better.

We've read most of the Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels published so far and our girls really like them. I thought they were very hard to read aloud at first, but I've gotten used to them. And I love that this story includes bits of history and introduces the origins of movable type and the Gutenberg Bible as well.

We enjoyed reading this book together and we will certainly read more of the graphic novels as they are published as well as numerous Geronimo Stilton chapter books too.

I only like it a little because there was only two things going on the cats and the rats. It wasn't his best book but still good.
