“There isn’t some magical elf waiting in the forest with a ‘now is the time’ bell that’s going to come out and summon you. You either do it or you don’t.” (On getting thing done)

STRONG WOMEN RISING is a super fun and super useful book brimming with positivity and sassy language. First of all, the book is beautiful, loaded with eye catching energetic artwork in a cool retro color pallet. I really like the size, feel, design and texture of the paperback. My only complaint about the cover is that I’d love to see the fabulous author’s name bigger.

The book is separated into three parts: what you think you know, loving yourself, and getting thing done. Each chapter includes tons of practical advice, an inspirational quote, definitions of terms for clarity, and workbook sections to help personalize the content and delve deeper. The chapters address such topics as perfectionism, boosting confidence, procrastination, replacing bad habits, forgiveness, social media, gratitude, making smart goals, deleting negativity, accepting compliments, and more. The book also includes a glossary, resources, references, and an index.

Some of my favorite parts of the book included the body positivity sections, the discussion on ego and shame, how people are unreliable narrators, dealing with one’s inner critic, forgiveness, fostering self-confidence, dealing with “haters,” and procrastination. I liked the author’s use of humor, tough love, candor, and foul language. The book is entertaining and the advice is applicable. I liked the inclusion of the workbook sections, but I didn’t use them.

Not only is this book great for one’s own reference, it would make a nice gift for a friend (assuming that they don’t mind curse words) who could use an emotional lift or a dose of positivity.

STRONG WOMEN RISING is a pleasure to read. As much as I loved the book, I wanted more. For me, this is a four and a half star read rounded up to five.

This title includes the biographies of fifteen women whom the author feels that history overlooked.  The book has three sections; these are The Innovators, The Change-Makers and The Ceiling Breakers.  Readers will learn more about Ada Lovelace, Ida B Wells, Marsha P Johnson and Madam C J Walker, among others.  Each entry is informative and readable and comes with an illustration of the woman being described.

This is a good anthology and one that covers a wide time range.  It seems to me that it should have a place in school or home libraries as an introduction to each of these pioneers.  The interested reader may then want to pursue additional research on their favorites.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

I am always on the lookout for new books that celebrate and uplift women, so when I was given the chance to review Strong Women Rising I snapped up the opportunity. Instead of preaching, this book is highly interactive and creates substantial change in the reader with each page. Confidence is something that I have a big problem with, but I found myself growing more confident as I continued on. This book is an excellent gift for any woman (including yourself!) and it is a gamechanger in changing your self-confidence for the better. I highly recommend!

If you’re reading reviews to try to determine whether or not you should read this book, just stop here and read it. Do you like having a best friend? Ok, good; Tiffany Reese is your best friend who offers expert advice based on psychology and sociology and laces it with practical financial advice, humility, hilarity, and bad-assery. You will get plans, introspection, and courage. Go!

“It says ‘women...’ Should I read this even if I’m not a woman?” Yes. It’s good for everyone and won’t turn you pink or flowery. So go ahead and “Humble Thy Ass,” buy it, and read it!

It also has the best acknowledgements page I’ve ever read.

What a fabulous resource! It’s full of loads of real life inspiration, journaling prompts, topics for thought, tips for becoming a better version of yourself, and helps the reader to identify their own roadblocks to success. It’s real, sometimes raw, completely hilarious and more than a little irreverent, but definitely a worthwhile read. I even got 2 to give to my daughters! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to write a review.

Imagine a traditional self-help book which has been re-written in a colloquial manner with a snarky attitude and a potty mouth. That is what this book is. That makes this book not for everyone. But it makes this book more entertaining and enjoyable for some people!
