The heart-pounding conclusion to the Marked Series The city of Accord has been under siege for seven months. Quade's army is the largest the world has ever known, a force great enough to topple a kingdom. Yet it is held at bay. Thwarted, thanks to the cleverness of a heart-sore general, the dedication of a queen, the courage of a people, the gifts of the marked, and-above all else-the predictions of a mindless truth-sayer, a Fifth. For over half a year this war has stood at an impasse. But on the other side of their protective city walls, Quade Asher has begun to alter his strategy. He's finally identified a weakness in Accord's defense. His desire for conquest is matched only by his rage, born of months seething in defeat and humiliation. Yes, by all the Spirits, he will take this city, and make his enemy bleed. Action-packed and full of heart, read the final installment of this fantasy epic today!
March McCarron is the author of The Marked Series. She writes character driven fantasy and science fiction stories. She grew up outside of Philadelphia, but has relocated several times, including a three year stint as an English teacher in South Korea. In addition to writing, March is an avid traveler, a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and a sore loser at Scrabble. She believes strongly in the continued value of the Oxford comma. Her other interests include photography, talking about herself in the third person, and coffee as black as her villain’s soul. You can learn more at her website, www.marchmccarron.com.
This book finally delves into the mythology and pulls away the curtains on the spirit world and it is a fascinating world. It's a pretty satisfying conclusion and you even see a few HEA.
Also, the story is both more gruesome in terms of the deaths and sappier in terms of the romance compared to the other three books.
Again I would strongly state my position that this is the most unappreciated series I have ever read. Can't believe only a few hundred people on Goodreads have read and rated it. I guess I will go and try posting reviews on Amazon to see if people start noticing the books.
McCarron is a gem, and I am looking forward to whatever she comes up with next. So definitely definitely give it a go if you can find it. If not, I think I can lend you a copy.
This fourth and final book of the Marked series is amazing, and really a step up from the prior book. The action is pretty intense, the characters are strong and varied, and Qaede deepens his evil and depravity. I never really felt myself get bored and I was always wondering how things would resolve. There are some major changes for Yarrow, which I enjoyed, and there are lots of reveals about the source and history of the magic that the Marked have. My only complaint might be that Qaede is a bit one-dimensional, but in the end you realize he is no doubt mentally insane so there is justification for it. The whole part about Qaede's sister also felt a bit underdeveloped and perhaps extraneous. Overall, a fitting and nice conclusion to this series and I thoroughly enjoyed.
NOTE: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
What a great finish to an amazing series. I've been following along ever since I first read Division of the Marked on Wattpad in 2015, and it feels so weird to have to say goodbye to the land of Trinitas and all those wonderful characters.
I loved the ending; what a great way to wrap everything up! I would love to read little short stories about some of the other characters after the ending. I hope that March continues to throw in little short stories. I'd love to read more about things Arlow or Ko-Jin did after they first got their marks, or even things after the ending of book 4.
All in all, amazing! I'd absolutely recommend this series to any fans of fiction.
And what a "resolution" it is!!! With the cliff hanger in book 3 (poor Yarrow!) - I had no idea what to expect from this final book of the series. I was thrilled to find more ingenuity in writing. This was a fantastic, fulfilling conclusion to a wonderful, treasured series.
Loved the whole series and a fitting end to a collection that I can't praise enough.
I started the first book close to a decade ago after finding it on Wattpad. It was one of the first books I had read in years and I loved it. I am terrible at reading and find I struggle to focus when reading rather than listening to an audiobook, but with this one I wanted to make the effort of re-reading the first three books again, before tackling the final installment.
This became a lengthy process, with me sitting with the final book in my to read pile since shortly after its release until now, but one that was well worth it.
So even though it took me way too long to finally see how it all played out I happily smashed out the final book in a couple days in the end and was not disappointed.
As with the rest of the series I loved the vocabulary used and found myself learning as I went, regularly looking up words but not feeling like it was too much.
I really felt for the characters at different points in the story as they struggled throughout with their decisions and those out of their control. Enjoyed the whole world that was built and would recommend to anyone keen for a new fantasy adventure
I loved the Marked series, but sadly this was my least favorite.
I really enjoyed this series. I read the first 3 books and year and a half ago. So I read the synopsis of the first 2 books then re-read the 3rd book, before reading this one. Some of the things I like about the marked series: there are good men and women, there are strong men and women, there was a little love mingled in with a fantasy/action story that had lead characters I liked that were both male and female. This last book left me disappointed because unlike the first 3 the author decided to add more curse words than the previous books combined, and there was way more love stories both homo and hetero that I started skipping because they were too sappy. However, for me these were somewhat minor ( like 5 cuss words, and no graphic sex scenes just sappy caressing, breathing you in, I need you moments). The conflict between good and evil in this series and specifically this last book is intense. I love how the author would give more detail of an event by retelling of from the perspective of another character.
Such a wonderful series from start to finish. Set in medieval times, yet woven with familiarity drawn from the modern world, so it's relatable. Truly remarkable... March McCaroll, I hope you write more stories in the future. :)
Superb. An absolutely splendid ending to an excellent series. This is one of those series where you’re desperate to read, read, read but so sorry when there is no more left.
