He Who Is a Lover

He Who Is a Lover

Falling in love wasn’t the goal. In fact, I didn’t think it was possible. That was until Bilan Asad-Yasin turned out to be more than I anticipated when I finally decided to explore her that early spring evening. Those curvy thighs, chiseled cheekbones, auburn freckles, powerful resilience, and endless intellect.

She was a bad decision, this I knew. She’d be a great risk, this I understood. I was an Ellis man, she’d eventually learn. And she did. That’s when she ran, attempted to escape a world she’d soon have to learn to navigate and survive.

Yet, I was not the only one with esoteric layers. Bilan had her own secrets she kept from me: from the world. Those were the truths I’d use as fetters to keep her close forever.

She’d now assimilated the Ellis world.

Publisher’s Note: “He Who Is a Lover” is book TWO of a THREE book series. It ends on a suspenseful CLIFFHANGER. This book contains angst, violence, profanity, sexually explicit content, and gory material. If any of these elements is not what you prefer between the pages of a novel, this is not the venture for you.

If there’s one thing that second book in a LB series is going to do is cause hella angst and emotional turmoil!!! Sadik had his work cut out for him in book 2!! Bilan said you want this heart 🗣️YOU GOTTA EARN IT NÏGGA and Sadik has been fighting for his life since!!!! 😩😩

Book 2 took a deeper dive into the world of the Ellis’ and Ms. Bilan Asad Yasin! There’s some weird ish going on with these side affairs and ion like det 😒 Bilan has ran off and thinks she’s in hiding so that she can regroup from the betrayal and near death experiences that she faced in book 1. But don’t get it twisted because Sadik gone always have eyes on what’s his! More secrets are revealed and Sadik and Bilan’s journey to HEA is still a very bumpy one. Y’all know LB ain’t gone give it to us easy but when I tell you it’s worth every page, 🗣️ITS WORTH EVERY PAGE!!! I’m in LOVE with these two and I can’t wait for Bilan to adjust her crown in book 3 and give these folks a run for their money!!

First of all, why would you end it that way? I felt a variety of emotions for Bilan as she navigated her emotions about this new world she'd stumbled into. I don't think her hormonal imbalance helped matters. Sadik and his ropes still have me entangled because he oozes masculinity and is such a provider and protector. I'm still perplexed as to why Tiffany is still present.

On the fence

I love all of Love’s books, but I’m in on the fence about this one. Often I can respect a character’s viewpoint even if I don’t agree with it (which I often don’t because as a reader you see everyone’s cards so your perception is often based on the whole) but this time I just could not understand Bilan’s point of view. Her character just seemed disillusioned and by 50% I was simply exhausted and drained. I hope i can enjoy the next installment better.

I usually begin my reviews with a synopsis, but to hell with that sh*t!

It's been 2 days and some pocket change since I have finished and I still haven't been able to get my life! I have literally marked the time because I haven't been able to function. And considering I would wake up in the middle of the night and also hide at work in cubby holes to read chapters, I've basically been a d#mn hermit crab! I am seriously having book hangover and I can't deal with these withdrawals right now!

I thought book 1 was good, but this ish almost surpassed my fav book which is "In Love with Ezra", Love Unaccounted series! The plot picks up right where book 1 ended. Belvin has this knack for giving minute details that act as puzzle pieces to the storyline. The unfolding is pure magic from her pen; legit no fillers just straight penned details that lead you on a journey through the LB Universe that the author has fittingly unearthed in her hearty catalogue.

Sadik and Bilan have become one of my favorite couples to date! Their chemistry is so palpable to the point of feeling your own pulse beat in your neck...and other places while reading their interactions! Look, these people ain't real so you know Belvin out here conjuring some character spirits and stuffing them in our heads! She got the drip, you hear me!? Have me out here in these book streets getting into arguments with other readers. Don't come for Bilan if I didn’t send for you! Many have dogged her out so bad but she a G! She went through all these life altering dire situations and still gave Sadik a chance! In this installment, I was able to see so much character development in both the main characters. I loved how their emotions fed off the other's and that even though there was sub themes involving minor characters, there was always the focal point of their love and passion. To be honest, I don't see many authors who are able to smoothly intertwine elements of grit and gore with romance. I have to give it to Belvin here: she literally has found a recipe that could shake up any genre! Bravo!

Additionally, though many sub characters were mentioned, I never felt lost because they all had their place in making the plot fluid! Ugh, the cameos had me so enraptured! And there is always, always a message you can receive as a result of the leads encounters with said sub characters, whether it be emotional, educational, or spiritual.

Lort that epilogue had me out here looking like I'm on crack! Belvin wrote that as if it was for  cinematography! It was like reading in slow motion; it took me a half hour to read those last pages!!!! The masterful way she penned this 2nd installment from beginning to end will have you enthralled in ways you can't comprehend!

Okay, I'll stop there because I'm literally tearing up again just thinking about this book! Ugh, how am I going to move on!? Ughhhhhhhhh

The Rope tightens...

After reading this book my nerves were frazzled, emotions in disarray. I was in love with Sadik, in strong like with Bilan and on the fence about the Ellises, except for Iban... Love Belvin is the absolute truth!!!! Book 2 of this saga brought so many moving pieces, so many emotions... I'm glad I waited until the night before book 3 to read this series. My nerves couldn't take the wait...

Oh my goodness!

Jus when I thought Love couldn’t make my head spin anymore, she drops part 2! Sadik is so layered that it feels like the more you know, the more questions you have. As unconventional and bizarre as their pairing is, Bilan and Sadik truly love each other. It’s almost otherworldly, which is why I think Bilan had such a hard time with it.

The layers of storyline for this series are so fascinating. The dysfunction of Bilan’s family and her desire for family being so strong she was willing to love a brother who hated her, a father who was flawed and aunts and cousins who looked down on her. Ironically, this allowed her to bond a seemingly even more dysfunctional family in the Ellises. She finds out that they are more what she desires in a family than not.

Now, Tiffany and Iban are problems. I don’t know what is coming in the final part but I don’t trust either of them. Earl has even redeemed himself in my eyes, which I didn’t think was possible.

Whew Chillllllllllllllllllllllddddddddddddddddddddddd!!!!!!!! Where Can I Find Mr. Sadik Q. Ellis!!!!!!

Listen, when I tell you to get ready when it comes to reading author Love Belvin's books, I tell you no lies!!!

Bilan and Sadik are at real critical odds here. Yes Bilan was forewarned about getting involved with a man whose last name is Ellis, yes Bilan thought she could play with fire and not get burned, yes Bilan thought she could have fun and then wade off with them both going their separate ways but what Bilan didn't realize that Sadik is a whole damn force that she couldn't even begin to imagine. In Book 1 we ended with all hell literally breaking loose and Bilan being on the run.

Book 2 opens up with Bilan having not only herself to look out for but an unexpected surprise that has made keeping away from Sadik and the Ellises a priority. But what Bilan doesn't know that she belongs to Sadik and there is no way he will let her go, he will give her space to absorb and come to grips but Bilan belongs to him and nobody is going to keep her from Sadik.

Sadik doesn't know when or the how it happened but he is unequivocally in love with Bilan where it causes his dark side to come full force to the surface. Sadik rescuing Bilan and him revealing the savagery in front of her, has spooked his light source and now he knows he must tread extra careful to get her to even speak with him but before coming face to face, Sadik has to get rid of those who dared threaten his beloved, he has to make her feel safe again to be with him but he also knows he has to tell her all of the absolute truth and that scares him because she makes him vulnerable.

Sadik and Bilan are the yin and the yang to each other but the secrets, the murders, the Ellis way may prove to be too much, but Sadik is determined that he will not live his life without Bilan by his side, he is desperate and when a person gets in that state they become a wildcard and that is something he is willing to become for her.

I am starting the final book of this series and to say I have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions is an understatement. I am still trying to find my bearings because Sadik's story is taking me through it.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao!

Good continuation of the series as I took my time reading this one. Bilan's strength was noted especially when dealing with Earl and Iban. Sadik continues to be that guy and truly loves Bilan. Characters were well represented as the family has come together including the introduction of Bilan's relatives. Tiffany's existence is annoying as she seems to pop up anytime. Storyline was intense as more of the Ellis family business was revealed. Good content and the ending has me definitely looking forward to the next part.

That 🖊 ain’t no joke!

If you haven’t read a Love Belvin novel, then you need to analyze your life! One thing I can say about this author is that her readers are always in for treat.

🗣🗣🗣EVERYTIME🗣🗣🗣.

Sadik and Bilan are going through a very interesting journey together. In the first book, Sadik was not my favorite person because he’s truly an alpha man who knows what he wants and won’t stop until he gets it and it’s all about Bilan! Babbbby!!!! Sadik has grown so much in Book 2. He’s much more understanding and patient with Bilan; not as pushy and demanding as he was in Book 1. Bilan has grown as well, but she’s trying to figure out what she really wants. I’m really enjoying this series and cannot wait for the conclusion. There’s so much going on and I don’t want to give anything away!

Just go read this series and make sure you got your wig on tight because Love Belvin is really trying knock it clean off!

In book #2 of the Sadik series, the layers to both Bilan’s personal life and Sadik’s family dynamics and motivations are peeled back. Sadik is determined to not only be Bilan’s friend but her lover and her protector. However, there are a lot of outside forces disrupting his best intentions.  Bilan proves that she isn’t as quiet or meek as people may think she is. She has concerns, and valid ones, with Sadik and his family. He may know for sure he’s in love with her but he came into that on his own and under his own terms. Bilan hasn’t necessarily been extended that same courtesy and she is determined to let Sadik know that his level of emotions is not reciprocated, at least not yet.

Secondary characters really come to life in this novel. There’s a string to be pulled with every, single one. A door to be opened that reveals information that I didn’t even know I needed.

Their family and friends play pivotal roles here. Earl, Sadik’s father, is an interesting and formidable man. At first, I couldn’t really say that I liked him and while I’m still not necessarily a fan I understand his motivations and quirks a lot better now. The Ellis’ are a very close-knit group who firmly believe that family is most important and comes before all else. And while Bilan doesn’t agree with a lot of their tactics and there are those who are a bit of skeptical of her, she craves a family and the Ellis’ provide her with that. Soon, she comes to see the mystique and allure and cautiously embrace the love that only this family can provide her with. However, there is more than meets the eye and downfalls to every situation, some of which we learn prove to be very dangerous.

Bilan and Sadik find a bit of their footing in this novel. They're more open, more honest, and once again their chemistry is palpable and magnetic. In He Is Who A Lover, Love Belvin once again pens a tale that readers simply can’t put down. It’s a raw and vulnerable page turner.

Awesome Read!!

Book 2 in this series and it was just as enthralling as the first book. We got some much needed answers and Love Belvin is painting a more complete picture of all of the characters and what makes them who they are. Waiting impatiently for the third and final book in the series.

Still got my attention. Very complex story. I think that a little of the “love” has been lost in this one. Bilan has managed to work my nerves. Still very different offering from Love which has me intrigued but Bilan is wearing on me fast. The dreaming is too much as well. Love has never dealt with the ethereal as she is doing here with Bilan. I’m not partial to it.

Excellent Read

I am speechless! I enjoyed part 2. It was well written as always and flowed very well. Sadik and Bilan were taking each other down quite a bit in part 2, especially Bilan. She jumped him more times than I can count...lol. Anyway, that cliffhanger has me really looking forward to part 3. Great job, Love Belvin! You got the power!

O M Geeee!

I finished reading this last night, and almost 12 hours later, my heart is still racing. What the hell?! See, this is why I like to wait until the whole series has been released, because I need to know what happens next! Woke up this morning to the news that a release date has been announced for Book 3, so I've just got to manage my nerves for a little less than two weeks. I can do this (fingers crossed!)

Bilan kinda worked my nerves in this book. She knows who Sadik is (and his family), and while I can understand that that's a whole lot, I kept wondering what she wanted Sadik to do about it. He is who he is, and while he's not a full participant in all of his father's activities, the way she kept throwing it in his face was super annoying after a while. Girl, either get with the program or move on.

That Iban is a nasty piece of work, as was Abshir. I was hoping for a different ending for Abshir, a change of heart and repentance, but after hearing what the police had on him, I was like 'boy, bye'. Interesting how both Sadik and Bilan had the worst brothers in the world.

I'm interested to see what happens with Tiffany. On the one hand, I feel a little sorry for her, but then again, she needs to get a clue and stop accepting every invitation Earl and Iban extend to her. Even had the nerve to pop up when a child invited her. Just dumb. I feel like Randi is gonna not only show her true colors, but reveal just how jealous she is of Bilan.

And what's up with Tom Banks? I'm convinced he's not a throwaway character, so curious about what's up with him. Oh, and Jason? Get your affairs in order, bruh, cause you're doing the absolute most.

Come on, August 30th! I need answers!

Omg omg !!!

This book took me through it. Ms. Love you are gifted, you have an amazing mind. The way you tied the story together with so many moving parts and different pieces is beyond me. I love the Ellis's despite the fact that they are of the underworld. The way Irene and Earl have created a united bond is what we all dream of; that solid support system for our children. Sadik sounds like the sexiest man alive. Definitely physically attractive, but his mind was even more attractive. The way he loved Bilan was overwhelming, it was hard to understand her hesitancy to open up to him. This book is a page turner, I enjoyed every moment as the story and characters bloomed before my eyes.

Every single time, Love kills it. I have few authors I read over and over and Love is at the top of the list. Her realistic portrayal of her characters in each story is unbelievable. I have to keep telling myself, these people are not real and yet...I discuss them as if they are my disjointed family. I have come to love/hate the patriarch of the Ellis family and still have no words for Iban. Now, I can finally move on to Sadik#3.

Wow so much in this novel!

I read this novel again at a slower pace and it was so good! I gleaned so much that I missed reading it before! This family, The Ellises really bond together when it counts! Even the Elder Ellis came around, bit that darn Iban, he's crazy! Nolan really matured in this one as well! It was a great read Love Belgian and now on to the last one! Rereading this series has been a really good experience!

He Who Is Sadik!!!!

Love Belvin I depend on your ethereal penmanship to take me to my favorite space...LB Universe!

Sadik and Bilan discover more of themselves and each other as a unit in part 2 of their love story. Bilan is literally scared out of her mind and rightfully so. What she had remaining as a family unit is no more, even though she was not valued in her brother’s eyes as family. She’s not sure of who to trust, including herself at times. Her anger and animosity towards Sadik has merit however it took me awhile to understand her logic. Lex Carmichael gave her great advice and it was good to get another update of The Carmichael’s. Bilan had tons of information to process and filter through. She was uncertain of wanting to be with or leave Sadik because of other parts of him exposed to her that left her to question her morals, his, and his family. Now she was certain of her distrust of Sadik however her ultra demanding alpha would not let her go too far. Sadik is a force to be acknowledged. He made sure to exude numerous amounts of patience to ensure Bilan not only started to trust him again but love him too. He commanded her love...he seriously did. I found that extremely fascinating. He continued to provide her assurance of his love for her, security, and their future together. His mother, sister, and even Rory showed Bilan that they were there and she was no longer alone. Watching them develop in their love was frustrating and beautiful. He stood his ground and called Bilan out on her mixed signals and sometimes her lack of consideration of his feelings. Bilan took a minute but she stood her ground on her wants and expectations of Sadik and herself. I was heavily rooting for them and impatiently waiting for them to solidify their union. Sadik’s reaction to Bilan’s pregnancy brought on the tears. His reaction to finding out the sex of his child heart warming. Now their external challenges, members of The Commission, Iban, Tiffany, Randi, Jason are setting themselves up for a world of hurt, pain, and death. Sadik does not play about his family and his Bilan!!

That cliffhanger though....Love I need book 3 like yesterday. Love every time I step back into the LB Universe, I walk away with messages to apply in my life. You make us love you!! If you’re not aware of Love Belvin, I highly encourage you to look up her works and discover why she’ll make You Love Her!!

Wow! Wow! Iban what you did boy? And my dear Bilan you messed up this series...

Now this 2nd book was not as enjoyable as the 1st one until the end when it picked up.
Bilan man, I was rooting for you but girl get going. You are so lame, so annoying and just so boring. The Bilan of the first book was sooo much better and so enjoyable and readable. This Bilan was acting so full of herself, so ugly, so selfish.
Sadik, baby, you are truly bae and still going strong. Although I will need you to tighten up a little bit with the Tiff's and the Sophia's because I can keep on lashing out to Bilan when you contribute to it at least 90% of it while you want her to stop with Jason yet you are not.... Communication is the key there...
Iban, Tiffany, Jason, Sophia, Randi, man you gonna get it bea amuse karma don't play now...
This second book was so not needed or at least it truly didn't need to be so long because you think you are going to understand these people, you actually do not get nothing except that these people are so secretive yet so boring that it makes this story boring. I mean, Sadik is supposed to be this all ultra alpha, almighty boss an, but at times he comes across as just a regular guy playing a role, hence Tiff and Sophia. A boss would have put these two out and about. As well as Jason, and more specifically, he should be able to boss up, communicate and let the chips fall where they need to.
In any case I must say that I wasn't feeling this series to much because of Bilan's character that I couldn't relate to and when the third and finale was not on kindle unlimited, it took the decision out of my hands to not continue with something I was forcing myself to read, so unless it gets put on the KU, I will not be finishing this weird and not so enjoyable series and all that because of Bilan's character... Am pissed off!!!

Whew! Book 2 had my emotions all over the place. It was brilliant! Bilan’s character growth showed a lot in this book but she still frustrated me at times. Especially in the first half of this delectable read. She was like a baby cousin who drives me mad but I still love and adore her and NEED to see her win. I just couldn’t figure her out. But I kind of understood her position in all of this. Sadik... oh Sadik!! *swoon* He won my heart in part 2. So vulnerable and insisting on showing how much he loved and worshipped Bilan rather than just saying it. His efforts was so beautiful to witness. Earl really changed my initial perception of him. I didn’t really have a problem with him in the first book. Despite his illegal involvements, I loved his passion for family. And the same can be said for Irene, she was the best. Iban is a whole nerve ending gone wrong. I can’t wait to see how his position in the family either remains the same or change in book 3. And hopefully Tiffany finds her mind that she clearly lost. Like Bilan realized, Tiffany’s in-genuine everything was so apparent. Tiff’s efforts successfully unlocked a new level of petty in this book. Like is she really going to spend the remainder of her 30s sniffing behind a man who clearly doesn’t share the same interest she does in a forever together? Sis, just, stop. Lol see? The characters are just that real they get hella judged. This was a nice read! I look forward to the conclusion of this series because that cliffhanger was like whoa!

I loved it. I cannot wait for book 3! This series is so good! I loved how Sadik and Bilan went through a rough patch in their relationship. Which was warranted because who wouldn't freak out if they witnessed a few murders? Earl Ellis really redeemed himself for me in this book. His lunch dates with Bilan really made up for his poor behavior in the first book. The family that Bilan wanted really showed up and showed out in this book. I like how everyone supported her with the passing of her brother as well as with her recovery after giving birth. I also liked how Taaliba is an asexual and she was proud of it too. Plus her ADD/refusal to commit to one career is freakin' funny too! As much as Iban makes it so easy to hate him in this book I really felt sorry for him since he kind of is overshadowed by Sadik the "golden boy"/"chosen one". I feel like the Ellis' could do a better job with praising both sons instead of always doting on Sadik in front of Iban. Tiffany still irks my nerves and I really wish she would get a man and disappear. Jason is a little nosy and I cannot wait to find out his true motives and why he won't go away either. Keisha & Julius cracked me up. I meant to mention Rory in my first review for book one but Rory is my favorite supporting character. That silent killer with the smart remarks/stone cold look makes the book even more entertaining!

Spellbound

Every time I finish a Love Belvin book/series, I am literally shaken to my core. There are so many levels to the characters and to the story. I feel like I’ve migrated into a whole other existence.

Sadik. Wow. I just don’t know what else to say about him. He is the ultimate alpha male, yet clearly vulnerable. His love for family and Bilan knows no bounds.

Bilan is beautifully flawed. I was thrilled to finally learn the reason behind her eating disorder. At first one might want want the story to quickly get to the part where she realizes she’s in love with Sadik but given everything she’s been through in her short life (and she’s been through a lot), mostly at the hands of Sadik and his family, it’s not unreasonable that her progression to being in love would move slowly. Again, lots of layers to these characters.

The ending is a cliffhanger, yes, but I’m not left feeling disappointed or anxious. I feel like this was coming to a head all along. I love the intrigue. Can’t wait for the finale but at the same time I don’t want to leave these characters.

Definitely a must read!
