Midwives say The Birth Map is "the best birth plan they have ever seen, and we wish more women would do this". Partners welcome the 'if this, then that' approach to support, and report the process helps them to feel included and less stressed. Others have described it as Revolutionary. Birth Mapping is about communication, understanding and preparation. Birth Mapping provides a personalised, realistic and reassuring foundation for this important life event. THE BIRTH MAP takes you through the Informed Birth Preparation process, helping you to understand and determine the decision points in birth and prepare for life with a baby. What is inside? Good concept, I wish it had much more information and examples on the actual birth map, most of the book seemed to be peripheral stuff around it and page fillers. Will definitely take some things from it to put together a birth map/plan.
~3.5 stars. I like the concept. The book provides an entry point, but I expected more information. Maybe my expectations were too high. It mostly contains (good) questions to discuss with your care providers. I'll still check out more of the resources on the website. :)
This is the second edition of my book. It is also available with an alternate cover, featuring the iconic pregnant woman by artist Emma Lewin: http://au.blurb.com/b/8870947-the-bir...
