I randomly picked this one up because I’m a sucker for a surprise kid/baby trope.

Buuut... I got to the one scene that messed it all up for me.

Basically heroine had this guy’s baby when she was really young maybe 18/19 we don’t know for sure. She thinks he dumped her, he thinks she dumped him, kind of situation.

Fast forward 12 years, they reconnect.. and guess what?! They get it on, aaaaaand.. she declares she hasn’t been with anyone since him.

I ducking hate that kind of thing. Why, why, why is a woman more worthy if she didn’t sleep with anyone else for 12 years (basically most of her youth) ... while it’s fine for him to get it on, over and over, with countless women.

Ughhhh I wanna break something, that’s how much I hate that kind of situation in romance books- it happens way too often!

Also they act as if the kid is 6 not 12... whatever, I’m done with this.

If you are looking for a sweet second chance at love story then this is the one for you. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Avery has built her life as a single mum believing that the man she loved and thought she would be safe with abandoned her when she needed him the most, she has spent eleven years bringing up her son Christopher pretty much all on her own, no one is more shocked when on a day trip with her son to the museum he runs off only to find him talking to the man who broke her heart. But when she discovers that they had a miscommunication can they build from there and have what they missed out on all those years ago or should the only relationship they have be only about their son? Avery never got over Ray but is she really ready to risk her heart all over again?

Ray thought the email he received was a joke, he didn’t have a son but determined to get to the bottom of this mystery he decides to meet his said son, what he finds knocks his world off its axis. Avery the girl her fell hard and fast for when they were younger is stood with a child that can only be described as mini version of him he is shocked to say the least, believing she kept him from him on purpose he is devastated to realise that they had both been victims of miscommunication and lost time. But can he really have a ready-made family and when it comes to a choice between love, family and his business what will he choose?

Really did enjoy this book and it was a fab read and I loved all the supporting characters too. 4.5* Read.

My review :

When a misunderstanding torn them apart, now ten years later, will they over come their differences....

I confess Mrs Aubrey Wright is a very prolific author so I do not follow everything she writes, as I tend to settle to historical romance first, still the blurb of this one caught my eyes and at time I like to switch style.
And I am lucky I gave it a try.
Avery did an awesome job at raising her son, she had to give up her dreams but she knows she was rewarded ten times over with the light of her life.
She rebuilt herself and even if they have to count every expenditure, they make do and are happy.
Ray never knew he had a son or he would never have forsaken his relationship with Avery.
He is a hard worker and now he wants to forge a new relationship with her and their son. He does not know where it will drive them but he wants to give it a try.
This is a sweet read with a bit of angst because when they promised to themselves to always say the truth, to avoid a second misunderstanding, Avery by withholding even if unintentionally some details jeopardized their burgeoning new romance. She reproches him his lack of control when she forgot to trust him with some informations.
When of course, some events are visible like a nose in the middle of the face, and I knew where it would lead, I loved the story went further in time and showed how they settled in life and a bit further in time.

This sweet 4.5 stars story portrays in a lovely way two lovers who have to start over to give their new romance a chance.
A special mention for the adorable and funny epilogue.

I was granted an advance copy by the author.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

I loved this story. It is incredibly sweet and then it deals with issues that could become triggers for some. The characters are looking for a second chance and are very well written. I loved this story. It has all the feels you need to satisfy that urge.

A troubled time in the lives of Avery and Ray. Avery misunderstood what Ray communicated. Ray is never new due to being in war and still he is leaving again. What will Ray do when he hears from Christopher? Will he believe him? What will Avery do when she finds out what her son did? Can they get past the past? Can Ray be a father? Can Avery accept him back? Guaranteed you will probably cry a few times.

Hero’s Baby I found to be of a predictable read until the back flip twists came.
I enjoyed it until the storyline diverged from the path I thought it was heading.
The characters began as seemingly strong and defined people, yet morphed through the story into weaker indecisive characters.
If looking for an easy read this is it.

I read thus book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ray And Avery's Touching And Tearful Second Chance Romance Brings Two Broken Hearts Together Under The Carefully Orchestrated Machinations Of A Son Concerned For His Mother's Happiness.

Avery Stuart, about thirty, doesn't regret all she gave up to have Christopher. She had been taken in by her aunt and uncle when her parents died, but they hadn't been prepared to raise a teenager. When she found herself pregnant and was told to abort, she refused and they kicked her out. Out of options, Avery moved into an apartment with her best friend Mel, giving up her dream and the full ride to Juilliard she was offered in exchange for diapers and a waitressing job. Twelve years later and Mel still stood by her side, supporting her through it all.

With his boundless energy, remarkable intelligence, and unquenchable curiosity, Christopher kept Avery busy, which was a very good thing. She had never gotten over Ray, the love of her life and Christopher's father. They had dated when he was stationed nearby Seattle and fell deeply in love - or so she thought. He was deployed to Afghanistan when he called and she told him about the pregnancy, but he simply hung up on her. He had chosen not to be part of their lives. But in the years since, she hasn't been with another man.

Ray Lancaster, about thirty, is a third generation military man. Silent and stoic, the love of his life rejected him while on his first deployment to Afghanistan twelve years ago. His repeated attempts to call and write went unanswered. Her memory faded over time, but he had only had a few other women in his life since then; none came close to her. It was in the Congo where the IED went off that scarred him both physically and emotionally. The occasional pain and the scar above his right knee and thigh remind him of the attack that left him honorably discharged and his good friend Captain Stantley dead. Years of therapy haven't erased the guilt. Stantley saved his life, but he had also helped Ray get up the nerve to ask out the girl of his dreams. Even today Ray hears Stanley's voice barking orders in his head. The years of therapy could never erase Stantley's ghost.

After his discharge, Ray created Lancaster Security, a private security firm catering to celebrities in LA. The company became his refuge, where he threw himself into his work. A fellow vet from his second tour in Afghanistan, Eric Mills is his right-hand man and the only person he trusts, though he often questions why. Eric's non-stop talking and goofy humor try his patience, but he nevertheless put his friend in charge of the Seattle office which opened months ago. Ray plans to spend two weeks there before heading oversees to finalize the Hong Kong deal. It is a huge opportunity and the realization of years of hard work. He plans to set up offices for the small company's third branch and run things from there.

When Eric got the email asking him to meet his son at the Seattle Museum of Natural History, he was certain Eric's humor had gone over the line. Yet he couldn't not show up. Despite the email's words, he found himself dumbfounded when he came face to face with a mini version of himself followed by an older but more beautiful-looking Avery, who appeared to be just as speechless as he was.

Avery can't believe it when she sees Ray for the first time in twelve years. He looks furious, though he has no right. Her son, who had been told the truth when he asked about his father's name years ago, confessed that he had looked up his father for his family tree project and arranged the meeting. Given a moment alone, Ray and Avery quickly discover that miscommunication had kept them apart all those years and their attraction to one another hasn't changed. It remains to be seen if they have grown too far apart in the interim to pick up where they left off.

Ray and Avery's touching and tearful second chance story brings two broken hearts together under the carefully orchestrated machinations of a son concerned for his mother's happiness. Ray eagerly steps into the role of dad, but the Hong Kong deal puts him in a quandary. The couple decides to test the waters, yet their relationship may not be salvageable. Ray hopes a little time will bring clarity, but it only seems to muddy the waters. Ray and Avery eventually get their well-deserved happy ending.

There are a few issues that merit mention. First, it is unusual for an eleven year old to fall asleep in the car and need to be carried inside. Second, Christopher's stunt near the end felt contrived. And third, the choice between going to Hong Kong or staying with Avery and Christopher was overly dramatic. All along there were many ways for Ray to go himself, temporarily or permanently, without giving up his new family, or to assign someone to go in his stead without sacrificing the deal.

Ray and Avery's story is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are unique and interesting. Ray and Avery are both enjoyable to read about. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Ray and Avery. I rate this book four stars.

Note: spoiler alert. this is a nice sweet story about a retired soldier and his long lost girlfriend who thought he didn't want anything to do with the pregnancy she was trying to tell him about over the phone when in reality he didn't even get to hear about it due to a rebel attack and a disconnected phone line. 12 yrs pass and their child reaches out by email to the dad he has never met and wants to get to know. both adults realize their feelings haven't really gone away and want to explore things between them. A few things happen including Avery meeting with the headmaster of a private school she wants her son to attend and Ray coming upon him trying to attack Avery so beats him up. The Avery decides she is too afraid of his violent side and can't chance him hurting their son. This part really bothered me because the author made Avery this wimpy, afraid, mouse so afraid of this man she used to love meanwhile she loved him before and he didn't have a violent side, he now hadn't shown any hint of violence, plus she knew he spent the last 12 yrs in the military where violence is kind of the thing u do. Therefore it would make sense that someone who had spent years in peace keeping missions would want to protect the women he loves from an attacker so her fear to me didn't make sense with what she would have known about this man. It honestly made me want to smack Avery and tell her to give her head a shake and smarten up, stop being an idiot. +
I did not find this book very exciting nor were there really many emotions evoked upon reading this story. It was well written and a good idea however I found it lacked excitement, suspense, drama, or really anything that would evoke strong emotion I like to feel when reading a romance. The title really doesn't fit the book either as really the story is nothing to do with the soldier being a hero as he is already medically discharged from the military upon meeting his son and long lost love.
I also found the sex scenes didn't really fit the story line. You had a sweet easy story then these slightly raunchy sex scenes thrown in like the author was trying too hard to make the book more interesting but really was suddenly like the characters turned into porn stars. It would fit if the book was highly sexual all the way thru the story line but it was more like the author tried to add sex into a sweet clean romance instead. Just didn't work for me.
Overall it was just an ok read for me. Not terrible but certainly not one that kept me intrigued and wanting to keep turning pages to see what happened next.

Sometimes Fate and Love Need a Nudge

Twelve years ago, Avery Stuart’s departing soldier-lover Ray Lancaster, left her with a gift as he shipped out for his new posting. He gave her a gift with love but also with consequences that she had to face alone. When 18-year-old Avery discovered that she was pregnant, she was anxious for the unknown future. And, she accepted Ray’s unexpected gift of a child—a child whom she already loved. Her immediate plans had been to attend Julliard—she had already been accepted—but plans can change. The next change of plans was housing. Her aunt and uncle who had given her a home when her parents had died gave her a choice—have an abortion or look for a new home. And so, she called Ray who was stationed in Afghanistan to seek his advice. But, when she called, he hung up. Brokenhearted but not broken, Avery moved forward, getting a waitressing job and finding new housing as she created a home for herself and her unborn but much-loved child.

Now, eleven-years later, Christopher, Avery’s brilliantly precocious and delightful son has given their lives an unexpected twist. He has located and contacted his father. Avery never tried to hide the truth from her son about his father’s identity, never imagining that Christopher would use that information to actually track down his dad. And, Ray—the same Ray who had hung up on her 12 years ago when she called him to share the news of their pregnancy—shows up while mom and son are visiting a local Seattle museum, as arranged by the clever son when it seemed that fate needed assistance.

So now, after twelve years of separation and silence, how can they go forward? How can misunderstandings and hurt of the past years be rolled back? And, is it even possible to move forward when so much time has passed?

Aubrey Wright’s second chance at love story is a sweet moment of finding the missing pieces of life and working to make those pieces fit in order to fashion a beautiful vision of what life could be with love and forgiveness instead of regretful shadows and thoughts of what might have been. Wright’s focus is always on the possibilities of love. With a knack for taking the unlikely and making it not only likely, but amusing, touching, and romantic, Wright always concludes in a HEA ending. Wright’s romances touch the heart and tickle the funny bone, leaving the reader with complete satisfaction.

A WONDERFUL, swoon-worthy, and STEAMY second chance romance! A MUST-READ!
Author Aubrey Wright is one of those authors who creates characters that act and react like real people. There is angst when the story calls for it, but not the myopic synergy which fouls too many self-published Indie Romances these days. Not only are her characters realistic, but they are also phenomenally well-developed and offer to her fandom a new book boyfriend with every title. Ms. Wright’s new contemporary novel HERO’S BABY is a perfect example. Avery’s 11-year-old son, Christopher, has found his absent father, Ray, and arranged to meet him. To find out the how, the why and other important and entertaining details, you’ll have to purchase a copy of HERO’S BABY, cause I’m not revealing anything other than it is totally believable, will make you swoon, and then contemplate less tolerated actions people are reported to have taken when they REALLY don’t like how one decision negatively affects the lives of the innocent. (Deep intake of Breath x2.) Then one might swoon and squirm again as Author Aubrey Wright is an amazing wordsmith. I find myself in her descriptions of one character’s or another’s words and/or actions all the time. Then I subsequently marvel at how this incredibly talented author’s words have hit the mark so well! If you have not read anything by this immensely talented author, then start with HERO’S BABY. This story had me HOOKed within the first ten pages, kept me turning pages quickly to see how the characters were going to deal with the primary plotline and subplots, and early this morning found the ending plus epilogue had me smiling with satisfaction as I finally closed my eyes to sleep. Of course, now I am going to purchase this novel because it is JUST. THAT. GREAT! Then my pre-ordered copy of HERO’S BABY will go into the FAVORITES collection on my Kindle so I can read it again and again. I volunteered to read an early copy of HERO’S BABY, because I love the way Aubrey Wright tells a story, and I stayed up most the night reading it because I couldn’t put HERO’S BABY down. I had to read every word, and I suspect you will feel that way too. This is my VOLUNTARY and HONEST 5+STAR review only because I am not able to award more stars. In closing, I STRONGLY recommend that you purchase your copy of HERO’S BABY today. You will be so very glad you did! Happy pages! 😉

Aubrey Wright has written a 5-star book that has Avery and Ray facing their feeling they have for each other after 10 years apart. Avery and her son are out at the Seattle Museum of Natural History when he lets go of her hand and runs off. Avery tries to follow him but with the Museum being busy it is a little hard for her. She calls him and he answers and tells her he is outside. When she gets outside, she sees him beside a car and he is talking to the driver. She reaches him and tells him that he knows better than to talk to strangers. The driver gets out and she looks at him and can't believe who is standing in front of her. He says, "Avery?" She said " Hello Ray, What are you doing here?" He tells her that someone by the name of Christopher Stuart invited him saying that he was Ray's son. Avery and Ray had been a couple until he let for the military and when she found out she was pregnant, she called him and she thinks that he hung up on her. After that, they lost touch with each other. Ray is in shock to find out that he has a son and he tells Avery that he wants to be a part of his life now that he knows about him. Ray is the owner of Lancaster Security and he offers to pay Avery child support, but Avery tells him no, she doesn't want it. Avery is a waitress at a diner and wants to get Christopher into a private school where he can be more challenged than in public school where he is ahead of kids his own age. Avery has a meeting with the headmaster of the private school and things do not go the way she plans. The headmaster tells Avery that he has another appointment and that they can discuss this more over dinner. When she meets him for dinner, she gets a bad feeling about the whole thing. Things do not go well and as she tries to leave he grabs her are and he knees him, he catches her at her car and this is where Ray finds them after getting a call from Christopher telling him where they are and his feelings about the headmaster. Ray saves Avery but not in a good way. He loses control and beats the man, and gets arrested. Now Avery doesn't know if she wants Ray around her son if he can lose control like that.
Can Avery and Ray work out their past and find their way back to each other?
Will Ray make the choice of staying with Avery and Christopher or will he decide to go and open his new office overseas?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend this book to anyone.

Spoilers!

This book. oooo I have so much to say about this book. This boon starts with the two main characters Avery and Ray meeting up again after almost 12 years apart and thank god we dont have to wait long to find out what went wrong and why they stopped talking, unfortunately the reason is so dumb I'm instantly annoyed with Avery. You tell your boyfriend that your pregnant over the phone while hes deployed In Afghanistan and he hangs up on you. Yes I totally understand why that would piss her off and I'm with her until we find out why he hung up and that he tried to call her repeatedly after and even wrote her and yet she still didnt talk to him for 11 years! Wtf girl at what point do you stop and think okay hes been trying to get in contact maybe hes rapped his head around it and what's to talk. Whatever the story goes on and its actually an okay book. I like the writing and even though I'm not too invested in the characters I still like it. Until Avery gets assaulted and Ray comes and saves her and beats the guy up. You would think she would be grateful but no she smacks his hand away and yells at him for going crazy and tells him to leave while the cops are taking Ray away (who is having a PTSD episode because of all the noise and the crowd forming) she doesn't even look at him doesn't see if hes okay while in jail because the other guys is pressing charges and tells her bestfriend she doesn't want him in her house because she scared of him. Oh hell no at this point I'm done and i only decided to finish the book because at this point I was almost done with it.

If you are like me and get frustrated with annoying female leads I wouldn't even bother with this book.
If you aren't like me and those thing dont bother you then yes read it because the middle wasn't bad.

This book is amazing and I absolutely loved it! A wonderful story about love and second chances, this story takes the reader on a journey through the lives of Ray, Avery and Christopher. Ray and Avery dated when they were younger and Avery thought he was the one. He was in the Army and she was planning on going to Julliard on a scholarship. That is, until she found out she was pregnant. Ray had already been deployed when she found out so she called him to tell him and he hung up right after she told him. She spent the next 12 years being angry with him and raising Christopher on her own with the help of her best friend Mel. The two meet again when Ray is contacted by Christopher by email wanting to meet. This sets Ray and Avery on a path to rebuild their relationship. There are a few bumps along the way as the headmaster of the private school Avery wants to send Christopher propositions her, Ray defends her only to find himself charged with assault and Ray is injured during a concert by a fan carrying a knife. Avery pulls away after the incident with the headmaster, fearing he may hurt her or Christopher. While in the hospital, Ray realizes that he needs to be with Avery and Christopher, not in Hong Kong growing his business. The distance between Avery and Ray has Christopher running to find Ray, only to get himself stuck in a museum exhibit. Ray and Avery clear the air and soon things are progressing as they should with Ray and Avery winning their case against the headmaster and the two agreeing to give their love a chance. It results in a new home, a proposal and wedding and soon the one thing that Christopher has always wanted - a sibling.

Sweet Story

If you need a nice, sweet read with a HEA, this could be for you.

I love Ray Lancaster. He's former military and owns a security agency. (BTW... I'm getting a little tired of the "former-military-going-into-the-security-business" trope. Please find other careers for them. Thank you.) Unbeknownst to Ray, he is the father of a 12-yr-old boy, Christopher Stuart.

Avery Stuart, single mom to Christopher, had a relationship with Ray early in his military career. They were in love and, even though Ray was stationed overseas, it seems they planned to stay together, to wait for each other.

Isn't that just the sweetest thing? So you know something had to come along and ruin it.

The bottom line... simple miscommunication. But now that these former lovers are reunited (by their genius son)...will they get a second chance at love?

I absolutely fell in love with Eric Mills... employee of Lancaster Security and Ray's "bestie.". Eric is hilarious!!

I also like Mel, Avery's best friend. She reminds me of me...short, feisty... sticks up for her friends.

I got to a point where I totally disliked Avery. Ray has to intervene in a dangerous situation, saving Avery, and she basically turns her back on him due to his display of violence

What?

Right...he saves her ass (with the strength and skill of a former soldier turned bodyguard) and she gets an attitude, saying she can't trust him around Christopher.

I was hoping Ray would leave her...she didn't deserve Ray.

I'll give you one guess as to what happens...

In spite of Avery, and a particularly bratty turn that Christopher takes, I enjoyed the story. It's a light, cute story with a HEA.

Can he play Daddy?

‘Hero’s Baby’ has a good storyline, with likeable and realistic characters. It was an emotion-filled book, that was both heart-breaking and heart-warming.

This is a story about Ray and Avery. They had a history once, and miscommunication ended what could have been a wonderful life together.

So over a decade of time has passed for these two, and a lot has happened during this time. Ray has emotional and psychological scars left by the ravages of war - that can be incredibly tough to live with. And Avery has had her own struggles. One that will be the ultimate surprise for Ray.

Their son Christopher (whom Ray didn’t know about) writes to his father, wanting to find out more about him, and connect with him. This is obviously a huge shock to Ray, and he struggles with the thought of being able to take on a parenting role, and develop a relationship with his son.

He also has an opportunity to possibly mend his relationship with Avery. She is after all the love of his life. Will he be strong enough to take on those challenges? And will she want to risk being hurt again?

Ray and Avery still have off-the-charts chemistry, and harbour strong feelings for each other. There’s a huge possibility of life-long love and romance. Will they get the second chance they both really deserve?

This was another enjoyable book by this author – quite the page-turner. I highly recommend it.

Christopher is an 11 yr old with questions about his father, namely why he had never been in his life. His mother never hid who his father was so he tracks him down and seems a e-mail to meet.

Ray never knew he had a kid so he thinks it’s a prank when he opens his e-mail one day and sees a message from some kid claiming to be his. He goes to the meeting anyways because he’s curious, he’s floored when a boy who looks like him approaches followed by Avery.

Avery thought that Ray didn’t want her or their child. When she told him she was pregnant he hung up and that was that. She’s shocked to see him again and when she finds out he didn’t even know about Christopher she’s quick to forgive and forget.

It was really nice to see a change in character structure in this story. I enjoyed how bright Christopher was and how mature he seemed. His age does show sometimes but not often. The chemistry between Ray and Avery isn’t that burning ‘we can’t keep our hands off each other’ type, They have a strong base and when they finally do move to that step it feels more organic and lasting right from the beginning.

Eric and Mel are both great supporting characters who have very unique personalities that I loved.

Hero’s Baby by Aubrey Wright

So picture a summer romance. A sexy military man, straight off the base. You date….you fall in love…..he goes overseas…...you find out you're pregnant. That’s exactly what happens to Avery in Hero’s Baby. Avery calls Ray to tell him the good news about their baby, and CLICK! Call ended. She didn’t waste any time on him after that. If Ray didn’t care enough to listen and share the joy of her pregnancy then shame on him right? Avery raises their amazing, smart boy wonderfully. He’s super intelligent, polite, and has amazing goals. But he doesn't have his dad….until he sends an email to Ray. Ray thinks it's a joke, he doesn’t have a kid. Low and behold, years later he’s face to face with the love of his life Avery and their son Christopher. How does Avery react to seeing her long, lost love again? How does Ray deal with seeing Avery and learning about his son? Talk about miscommunication!
This book pulled me from the very first page! Beautifully written. The characters feel so real. I love how Avery and Ray’s relationship rekindles. Ray has an instant love for Christopher. Christopher cares so much for his mom and Ray. Wonderful family dynamic built in this book. This story had some steamy scenes that just had you melting. Amazing HEA. Twists and turns too!! Great Job Aubrey Wright!!!

A swoon-worthy alpha and his sweetheart gets a second chance

Hero's Baby by Aubrey Wright is a wonderfully well written second chance romance with a former military hottie, a true beauty of a sweetheart and an adorable preteen. This is my first Aubrey Wright book and I so loved it! Well written, well developed characters as well as an engaging plot made this a page turner for me.
I fell immediately in love with these characters! Ray stole it right away with his acceptance of Christopher at once. Avery is so brave with her heart. She takes risks and the rewards are massively positive. Ray proceeds with caution, experiences some unsure moments, but realizes what really matters most to him; Avery and Christopher, so he does what it takes to keep them in his life. Speaking of characters, Eric and Mel are a hoot!
Overall, a very well written second chance military romance with just enough angst, plenty of steam and a whole lot of love. The HEA is just what I was hoping for for this new little family as a whole as well as for each of them individually.

A quick and cute read about how a misunderstanding can change the track of someone’s life. Ray and Avery had a relationship when Ray first entered the army and they were in love with each other, but a serious miscommunication happens and it up ends Avery’s life. She works hard and ends up having a baby by Ray, but it isn’t until years later that that their son, Christopher gets in touch with Ray and things start from there. Ray and Avery still have the attraction they once had but now they must navigate it while keeping in mind that if things go south Christopher will be hurt too. They have some issues and insecurities to work through and at one point I was highly upset with Avery because even if she was in shock she took her feelings and emotional state at the time out on Ray and I personally didn’t feel he deserved it. I did love Christopher, he was such a sweet and loving kid that brought the whole story together.

This story had all the right feels when it came to the two main characters, Avery and Ray. At one point, they were in love. War and miscommunication tear them apart. For years, they move on without each other. Both of them believing something that isn't true about the other. The difficulty that Avery has when the truth finally comes out is heartbreaking because so many of us can relate to holding onto something that perhaps isn't quite the entire truth. Through anger and loss, joy can also be found when you least expect it. This is especially true for Ray as he seems like the type of man that is way too serious about everything he does in life, but he's got scars to remind him why.

I really enjoyed this story of Avery, Ray, and Christopher. In truth, Christopher is the *STAR* of the book. The kid is just so capable of handling things that adults don't seem to understand. Well written, HEA, and no cliffhangers. What more could you want?

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Avery and Ray. The story begins in the present, Avery is a single mom of 11 year old Christopher and working as a waitress. She and Christopher are at the museum when he takes off running outside. When she finds him, he's taking to someone in a mustang, she freaks. But when Ray gets out of the car she's dumbfounded. Christopher contacted Ray to get to know him, since Avery and Ray haven't seen each other for 12 years. He's shocked when Avery admits that Christopher is his son, that she tried to tell him but an attack at the base cut off their call before he heard the news. But he's in town for work and they are trying to get to know each other again. But trust is fragile and when she's in danger it might break. Great HEA in the end.

Avery is a single mom raising her little boy on her own since the father wasn't involved. She and her son were at a museum when he took off from her when she catches up to him he mentions waiting for someone. Nothing could've prepared Avery for seeing Ray again. When Christopher reaches out to Ray about being his father and wanting to meet him Ray is shocked. He didn't know anything about Avery having his child so he went to see if it was a scam. However he is stunned when he sees the boy and Avery together. Can Avery and Ray get their happy ending? Will they work something out for their son?

This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first page on. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaiing story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Aubrey Wright always delivers a great story with a storyline that has a heartfelt meaning to go with it and Hero’s Baby is no different. The way she brings the main characters back together after being separated by miscommunication is sweet and very thought out. I loved how she uses Christopher’s school project to bring his parents back together after being separated by miscommunication over a decade ago. When Avery and Ray finally reconnect, they find that the chemistry is still there after all the time that has passed. Can they work through the way things ended all those years ago? The secondary characters, Eric and Mel are awesome and really add to the story and they will keep you laughing. This is another must read from Aubrey and it will not disappoint.

A secret is out.

Avery has a son by Ray Lancaster a security mogul a product of an accumulation of feelings for one another. Ray leaves that night to go into the army and through a misunderstanding on both parts they don't meet till their son disappears while on a trip to a museum with his mum. Frantically searching for her son Christopher Avery goes outside and spots him talking to someone with a very expensive car. Now Avery had never kept hidden his father's identity so imagine her shock when she realises who he is talking to. The attraction is still there but also a lot of anger on Avery's part she never trusted a man since Ray left. Will Ray rekindle the flame will Avery trust him again. Read this exciting romance for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

A sweet second chance romance blossomed unexpectedly when Avery found her eleven year old genius son had contacted his father Ray online.
Ray had actually moved on and become successful after his deployment and time in the service. I didn't really like that he was actually doing quite well without Avery. Their breakup was painfully sad with Avery heartbroken and pregnant with Christopher. I liked her strength of character and the way she singlehandedly raised her son with the help of her friend Melanie.
Christopher was the bright light in this sweet romance with his positive acceptance of Ray back into his life. A bit of drama with both Avery and Ray acting like boneheads before they accepted their feelings for each other and worked their way to a well deserved and satisfying HEA

Avery is shocked to see her ex Ray when her son invites him to meet them.
Avery and her son are visiting the Seattle Museum of Natural History when Christopher runs off into the crowd. Trying to follow him Avery finds it impossible so she rings him and finds out he is outside the museum and when she sees him he is talking to someone in a red car. When the person exits the vehicle she is shocked to recognize Ray Lancaster her first love and Christopher's father. She is even more shocked to find out that Christopher had been in touch with him and asked him to visit. Ray was stunned to get a message from someone claiming to be his son but when he sees him it is like looking at himself at the same age then Avery appears and he is speechless.

I have to say I love Aubrey as a writer her characters are always so realistic and her books flow so well that you feel as if you are reading about the lives of friends and this one was no exception

Avery has spent the last ten years raising her son yes times have been tough and she has had to give up some of her dreams but she wouldn't give up her son for anything. Now though Christopher has decided he wants to know more about his past and he has tracked down and written to his father. Ray is stunned when he receives the letter he had no idea he had a son in fact if he had he would never have walked away from Avery something that he did as he thought he was to damaged by what he had seen in the military Now he has to try to rebuild a relationship not only with his new son but also with the woman he has always loved. Can they be a family You will have to read to see

I really enjoy second chance romance. This is the story of Avery and Ray. While Ray was stationed over seas Avery found out she was pregnant and called to tell him. The moment she told him he hung up and she decided to do everything on her own. Twelve years later her son Christopher invites his dad Ray to meet him and his mom Avery. The moment that Ray sees Christopher he knows that he is his. One look at Avery and all of those feeling come flooding back for both of them. Will she be able to get past what he did to her in the past? Will a miss understanding mess everything up? Will they be able to become a family. The story was well written, the characters fit well together and grow together and have great chemistry. A great read.

I absolutely loved this book!!! A lovely story about second chances and finding love. Avery and Ray dated when they were younger. Ray was in the army and Avery was a piano teacher planning on going to Julliard. That was before she found out she was pregnant. Ray was deployed at the time. Due to a communication issue, Avery thought he'd abandoned her when she needed him the most. Angry and alone she sent the next twelve years raising her son Christopher, with only the help of her best friend Mel. The two meet again when Christopher emails Ray to meet.
The two now find themselves thrust together again, only for Avery to find out that Ray never knew she was pregnant. Due to an attack on his camp during Avery's call to tell him the news. They clear the confusion and start building a relationship, while Ray starts to get to know his son. they go through some bumps in the road but eventually find they never stopped loving each other and decide to give their love a chance. It results in a new home, a new career, a proposal, and a wedding. And best of all a new sibling on the way for Christopher.

This book in my eyes would be a cross between a secret baby and a second chance romance. A simple misunderstanding tore Avery and Christopher apart and Avery was left alone when she needed Christopher. Eleven years later they are reunited by a letter that was written by there son Ray. Once Avery hears the real reason for what happened she decides to give Christopher a second chance. The chemistry between Avery and Christopher is off the charts hot, sexy and Christopher is every bit the alpha male with a romantic side. These two are able to work through there differences and give there relationship a second chance. Loved this book and Aubrey knocked this one out the park.
