As time goes by and Lucas and Evan grow closer, the attraction is harder to fight. Can they heal from their past wounds and forge a life together?
Roberta Blablanski hails from The Big Easy: New Orleans, Louisiana. She draws inspiration from her colorful hometown and her former life as a college radio DJ. When she isn’t writing, she spends her days searching for the world’s best Bloody Mary and avoiding people she went to high school with. Her normal habitat is curled up in bed with a good book and a cup of coffee.
Roberta developed a love of books at an early age, spending her summers at the library. Years later, after watching the American version of the television show Queer as Folk, she began searching for books featuring queer characters finding love. Most recently, she began writing queer love stories of her own, drawing from her own personal experiences and creating characters and story lines as vibrant as her ever-changing hair color.
Warning: reading this may cause maple bacon donut cravings!
I loved the easy friendship that these two burdened MC's cultivated upon their first meeting. With multiple issues littering their past, they both had a positive outlook and became fast, close friends.
The story jumps time from when they meet to months later to years later, but it's definitely enough to FEEL their relationship and their excitement at the end.
Roberta Blablanski has recently become one of my favorite authors. She creates characters that are easy to fall in love with, and I always get so quickly caught up in her stories that I soon forget I'm even reading.
This short story is about Lucas and Evan. They meet on a college campus, and as they are both older than the other students, they're able to form a connection which almost immediately turns into friendship.
They've both had difficult and/or traumatic pasts and find they are easily able to relate to one another. They also find themselves falling for the other...hard and fast.
I adore this author's writing style, and as I've mentioned in prior reviews, she's always able to effortlessly pack so much story into just a few pages. I don't know how she does it, but I do know that she does it is very well.
Have you read anything by this author yet? If you haven't, this is the perfect one to read first.
And just like I did, I'm sure you'll quickly fall in love with her writing style and want to read her other two books ('Return to Sender' and 'Addiction') as soon as possible.
Talk about super sweet this was adorable on all levels. It was just a quick snap shot from strangers to friends to lovers all in a few short chapters. That’s what I loved about it. It was an afternoon read when it’s raining out side and you want something adorable to pass away the afternoon.
Lucas and Even meet in a packed coffee shop. It’s attraction instantly but the other hasn’t told the other how they feel. When one day they open up to each other about their traumatic pasts they realize there is more to them than friendship.
I love how this story played out and this is a new author for me but I will definitely be reading more. Really enjoyable.
This was an adorably sweet story. Lucas is just starting college after a difficult situation. He meets Evan, a fellow student who quickly takes him under his wing and is also dealing with some past issues. They soon become friends and much more. The epilogue moves them forward a few years to a wonderful HEA.
To me Fresh Brew by Roberta Blablanski was like a tasty snack-romance...you know when you don't feel like reading a full novel, but you have a craving for romance and therefore you choose something short... Just like a snack ,lol
Lucas and Evan's story is just that. With two adorable characters, it's long and sweet enough to put a smile on your face and satisfy your need for love and happy endings.
