Practical Pedagogy is a concise and accessible handbook on several of the latest pedagogies available to teachers today. In the book, Mike Sharples points out that technology, new research, etc. are only as effective as the pedagogical strategies surrounding them and then highlights 40 exciting possibilities. As a secondary math and science teacher, I have seen students directly benefit from many of these pedagogies including remote labs, explore first, design thinking, and crossover learning. After reading the book, I'm eager to try more such as embodied learning and learning through argumentation. I highly recommend Practical Pedagogy to anyone in education. You will be encouraged by the current and future possibilities in teaching!

I find the core concept of the book - focus on innovative and practical ways of teaching and learning extremely powerful. So many of us take teaching and learning approach for granted, thinking there is one way only. But this book shows there are 40 new ways to discover, explore, investigate and creative. These ideas are organized into five different categories so readers will not be lost at the sea of information. I started by reading a dozen of these new ways which have a direct impact on my own professional environment. Right after reading one chapter I had ideas on how to improve my own teaching design and it worked! I would recommend this book to anyone in the field of K-12, higher education and informal education such as art and museum curation. A book to read and keep!

This book is a great way to have a quick update on the world of education and pedagogy. The articles are short, incredibly easy to read and each of them has a dedicated and ready-to-use resources list.

This book is accessible, inspiring and you can read one or two articles during a coffe-break. A great book to have in a teacher's library.
