The world thought Coronavirus was bad... They were very, very wrong! A lethal mega-virus. A cruise ship in chaos. An unlikely saviour. On a dream anniversary cruise with his wife Shelly, Craig Nicholls finds himself in the midst of anarchy as a deadly pandemic spreads across the globe.
On the luxurious Sapphire Star, many hundreds of passengers succumb to the deadly mega-virus, including the Captain, and as the crisis mounts, with nowhere to dock and an overwhelmed medical staff unable to cope, Craig witnesses society collapse in the face of chaos.
Craig crosses a brash Texan oilman with an army discharge record, who senses an opportunity to take control, using whatever means necessary.
Third Officer Balzan owes his glamorous career to his gangster roots. But the payback required will bring terror and probable death for Craig, Shelly and every survivor on the doomed ship.
Like it or not, Craig realises he’s the only hope to stem the on board outbreak, stop the Texan’s violent coup, and save the last survivors from the lethal threats of piracy and... The worst virus humanity has ever known.
Englishman Steven Moore grew up by the seaside, thus his first true joy was the great outdoors. His innate love of travel and a degree in anthropology, archaeology, and art history help inform his fiction writing. Steven also loves painting, photography, and both playing and watching sport.
The travel bug bit the now perpetual nomad early, and to date Steven has lived and worked on five continents, and visited almost sixty countries. Steven combines an age-old writing adage; Write what you know, with his own mantra; Write where you know, and sets most of his novels in places in which he has either lived or spent an extended period of time.

“Looking for a new favourite action-thriller author? Look no further”
Adversity brings out the best and the worst in humanity! Never has that been better illustrated than in the beginning of this apocalyptical series. What would you find important if the power structure of your world suddenly collapsed? Power for yourself? Survival? Family? Board this cruise and find what the end of civilization as we know it holds in store for its passengers. Warning the ending is a cliffhanger but shouldn’t stop you reading this if you enjoy dystopian fiction.
Craig and Shelley have had a good life. He has work he enjoys. They have raised two caring children. And Shelley, despite her severe OCD, has been a blessing. Now, their kids grown, they are taking time for themselves, a long vacation.
They had a wonderful time on a beautiful island and now are ready to embark on a cruise to take them back home to England. What they don’t know is that death, in the form of a smuggler, has boarded with them.
On a Caribbean island and in China, someone is going to great expense to create a super virus. The world doesn’t know it yet, but life as it has been is severely threatened. Can the world survive when the virus escapes the labs that created it?
Join the more than a thousand people on the last cruise they will ever take. To what lengths will each person go to ensure their survival?
I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Torn from today's headlines, the premise for the book is a killer super virus that escaped from the lab and spreading like wildfire. Main protagonists are Craig, a British research tech who works at a Public Health Lab, and his wife. They are taking their first cruise in the Caribbean for their 25th anniversary.
When the viral death 💀 arrives and the cruise ship has disembarked, the boat becomes a mix of plague ship and "Lord of the Flies"! Can the ship and crew contain the infection? Can they get help from the outside? Will any port let them dock? Is the infection localized to the boat, or are other people in worse shape?
For me, the characters rang true, the actions described are believable. I was troubled by the initial rapid spread and behavior of the surviving characters on the ship. I was also troubled by the abrupt end, with many threads of the story seemingly hanging. Perhaps there will be more books to come...
I reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book, and except for minor typos that the proofreader should pick up before publishing, I see that there should be no substantive changes in the book to affect my review.
This is a cliffhanger style of writing, with the action stopping mid-story. I don’t know if it’s one more book to come or perhaps a trilogy, there’s no way to tell by the way the story stops. There are good characters involved, with enough back story to help you care about them, and good action sequences. The storyline itself involves a deadly virus escaping from a lab and its exponential growth across the world. One of the sites of its growth is a cruise ship. As other reviewers have noted, this is very timely, echoing current events, but the cruise ship in this story faces truly deadly results. The book chronicles a few people simply trying to escape while other passengers try to take over the ship. I don’t usually care for cliffhanger books but I found this to be an easy and interesting read, and I am interested in finding out what happens next.
This book is written in a clear and direct style that makes it easy to read, and has just enough descriptive material to provide good mental images. The reader is introduced to a number of interesting characters drawn from a diverse universe. There is no shortage of gritty detail covering the effects of the virus on people. The parallels between this story and current events concerning the coronavirus, including the start point of Wuhan, China, makes me wonder if the authors had a glimpse into the future. The book ends with a severe cliff-hanger, and offers no hint as to the future.
ARK Outbreak...by Steven Moore and Jay Tinsiano. What a storyline even more so with what is happening in the World. Once started it's impossible to put down. People fighting for life while others take this as an opportunity to steal, become evil and only out for themselves. While others become hero's and do everything they can for complete strangers. Can hardly wait for the next part of this superbly written book.I

Whoa! I could have been watching the news. So realistic and completely possible.
Adversity brings out the best or the worst in humans. Imaging being on a cruise ship when a worldwide pandemic hits. The virus is similar to more than one known virus but kills rapidly. Makes you stop and think what you would do to survive.
Ark: Outbreak is a well written book. The impact of the pandemic is felt immediately. The protagonists are Craig and Shelly who are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Fell in love with both of these characters.
I debated on whether to read an advanced copy as it is not my typical genre. So glad I took a chance!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I am so looking forward to book #2, and I hope it isn't long before it becomes available. This book would make a wonderful movie/mini-series, if they could stay true to the story line. It ties right into what is happening in the world today, so it was an exhilarating, intriguing ride. Looking forward to finding out what happens to the characters in the next book, and maybe even another one.
A wonderfully crafted story that is right on point with current affairs in the world. Fast paced with well developed characters, it is a rollercoaster ride which I could not put down. I had to read it in a single sitting. The only thing about this book that did not sit right with me is that there was no reasonable and satisfying ending. It just stopped; almost as if the final chapter of the book was missing.
Thank you to the authors who provided me with an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A scientist in St Lucia attempts to give a monkey an injection, but the monkey bites him. He has been experimenting with a mega virus. This scientist dies a short time later. An outbreak of the virus affects a number of islands. A cruise ship that also faces this outbreak. The ship is not permitted to dock and will have to remain at sea. This is a fast paced thriller with a lot of action on board the ship. Hard to put it down.
An excellent thriller with a current realistic storyline and a great cast of characters. The start to a scary series with a deadly virus, non-stop action, lots of suspense, betrayal, and of conflict. A book that was hard to put down and ended up in a one day read. Highly recommended book! Will be looking for the next book in this series. No cruises for a while after this book and the current deadly virus.
ARK: OUTBREAK (A Mega-virus Apocalyptic Thriller Book 1) - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Imagine a scenario where an evil foreign power conspires with a psychopathic money-loving US oil baron, to use not one, but three covert labs, where scientists are coerced or bribed to create an uncontrollable mega-virus - then use it as a weapon to blackmail their way to global domination.
Steven Moore's exciting new thriller ARK: Outbreak (A Mega-virus Apocalyptic Thriller Book 1), has more than a grain of truth in it, as when the deadly result is insecurely smuggled aboard a packed Caribbean cruise ship, the resulting panic and rising death toll causes devastation to all. Husband and wife Craig and Shelley lead the way to save as many other passengers as possible. But when armed, insulated pirates are smuggled aboard, Armageddon is only a heartbeat away. Who will survive? Who will escape?
Read ARK: OUTBREAK (A Mega-virus Apocalyptic Thriller Book 1), by Steven Moore to find out -and enjoy this all-action spine-tingling thriller from the safety of home!
The book relates the interactions between the crew and the passagiers of a cruise ship on route from the Caribbean to Portugal, while dealing with a potential life and death situation in very close quarters due to a deadly virus outbreak. How does a group of fully strangers behave when dealing with their ultimate fears?
As the virus inexorably spreads and the fate of the passagiers seem to be sealed, each one of them behaves according to their own nature. There are strong moral characters, such as the middle-aged married couple Craig and Shelley, fully egocentric figures as Donnie Manson, the oil-magnate son which sole interest is keeping on dilapidating as much as he gets. And, between both poles of the spectrum, there is a variety of characters that show all the aspects of human nature when confronted with an impossible situation, such a Villeneuve (the ship’s doctor) or Balzan (the third officer) which hides a secret of his own. Someway along the story, everyone is forced to accept the gravity of the situation and take action in absence of any outside help. The end offers the possibility of a new beginning…. could be seen as a cliffhanger or as a starting point for the reader to reach his own conclusions.
ARK Outbreak, the first collaboration of Steve Moore with Jay Tinsiano, and combines to perfection the writing style of both authors. Moore’s fast paced flood and his love of strong but very mainstream couples and Tinsiano’s predilection for dystopian, yet very realistic apocalyptic scenarios are interwoven which such precision, that it is almost impossible to discern where Moore stops and Tinsiano takes over, and vice-versa of course.
The book couldn’t not have been released at a most fitting time (February 2020), but it is in not terms an ”opportunistic” book, it is well written and well researched, and actual events aside, a worthy reading and, at barely 170 pages, a fast-paced reading, that could easily be consumed in no time, but will let a very lasting impression in the reader. The story is upsetting, realistic and shocking at times, with some few moments of great human behaviour and, first and foremost, a credible development of the story.
The authors have succeeded in exposing the facts in a detached yet very realistic way, just be warned, you could get a little more than you bargained for. just… maybe… if you feel triggered by the information in the news, just buy the book and put it on your “TBR” list…. this crisis too shall past…..
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
The only bad thing about this book is that it ended too soon. I was totally wrapped up in this tense, current event novel. And, remember, it is fiction. At least the novel is. Such a timely critical tale made me look out the window, check the news, just to make sure I wasn’t reading a book about what was happening right now.
Mr. Moore’s characters are so well-developed I felt like I knew them, and they were my friends. The world on board the ship Sapphire Star was realistically drawn with the places and events reminiscent of some very enjoyable nights and days of my own ventures on cruises. BUT my circumstance were extremely different from the passenger on board the Sapphire Star.
Start with a virus being created in St. Lucia, follow it with frightened passengers willing to do anything to survive and to make matters worse, follow that with a group of mercenaries out for anything and all. This book is amazing in its intensity. As the first in a series I can’t even guess what the future books will contain but I can tell you I will be reading them. Join me in an adventure worth the time and money.
Nowadays, on Saint Lucia island high security laboratory, the scientist Charlie Ambrose is working hard on dangerous viruses to get a brand new vaccine.
Unluckily there is an accident and he's contaminated...
Then an incredible amount of events will allow the virus spread among the World...
---------------
What an incredible and awful travel on this enormous cruise ship!
A very gripping plot, so many interesting and realistics characters, lots of twists and turns, and a deadly virus, will keep you breathless during your Reading!
This story couldn't seems more real...
For me it's a MUST READ medical thriller ! I do recommend this book.
How did they know?? This is one heck of thriller, written before the Covid-19 pandemic, which makes it all the scarier. The authors have set the viral infection afloat, like what really happened in the early stages of the current events. Either these guys are psychics, or they are deeply informed as to what has actually happened. (Cough *CIA* Cough) It's way too accurate to just be happenstance. I couldn't read it fast enough! There is only one problem...the current story ended too soon so I don't know what is going to happen. I will just have to keep on social distancing and wearing a mask until...
I received an ARC of ARK (sorry...) from the authors. Now, they have me hooked and I will just keep checking for the next book in the series.
Living the dream only to have nightmares become reality.
This is the first book published by this writing duo. As it is apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic in nature expect violence and some situations that some people may be sensitive to reading.
Imagine being germophobic but willing to risk it to go on a dream cruise. Now imagine a pandemic breaking out and being stuck on a cruise ship. Would that be your worst nightmare?
The authors did a wonderful job of sharing multiple perspectives but the subplot of this passenger connected with me. I'm not germophobic as such but I have worked in places that cleanliness is encouraged.
What if you went on a cruise to beautiful places and one of those places was infected with a super virus that is spread via air, just walking by someone could infect you. Then you returned to the ship and a hell of a departure party. No idea how many may be infected. And throw in a psycho who wants to be in charge, 2 Russian thugs, and 2 bags of money. Let the games begin. This Mega-virus makes are COVID-19 look like a simple cold. It was very realistic and scary.
It’s difficult to know where to start with this one…
The writing is atrocious. Poor punctuation along with incredibly poorly constructed sentences make reading the text very, very annoying. It is hard to believe anyone proofed this thing before publishing.
The story itself is two dimensional and utterly predictable. Not very imaginative at all. The characters are such stereotypical examples that it is cringe worthy most of the time.
A global outbreak of a deadly virus starts when a cruise ship leaves an island and has already reached it. High on the sea the passengers die one by one and amongst the survivors begins a battle for survival. The situation brings out the worst (and best for some) in humans. And what part a person named Donnie Manson plays isn't hard to imagine. An entertaining pandemic thriller with a HUGE minus. At one point it simply stops...
Moore and Tinsiano have written a very timely novel in Ark: Outbreak. This page-turner gives a whole new meaning to cruise ships. When an engineered deadly virus spreads amongst the passengers and crew, the nature of the people will come to light, whether good or bad. An edge of your seat thriller that does end in a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next installment in this series. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
I hate this new reality! This virus that is killing off as many seniors as it can! I hate the way people are showing their true colors, lying, grabbing power, cheating, stealing, are revealing all their weaknesses with reckless disregard for all. This book covers all of these realities, how quickly our reality swings from blissfully enjoying life to fighting to stay alive! What's the future look like? Do you really want to know?
Rated R for language and brutality. Great story, believable plot, well rounded characters, non-stop action. Kept me engaged (except for cringing at the constant f-bombs) right up until the senseless, weak ending. There was no resolution and there was an abrupt cliffhanger. This was a packed full, complete book; why in the world would you not finish it?!
A disease that kills in hours, not days, gets released accidentally. A combination of coronavirus, rabies, and Ebola was being manufactured for profit. The biological weapon is taking over a luxury cruise ship containing a profiteer that will stop at nothing to use this to his advantage. The squeamish take note - graphic details of the illness. I was gifted this from the author.
Eerily timely thriller. Superb character development and plotline one has come to expect from Tinsiano. Frightful and fast paced, ARC: Outbreak will leave you terrified in its reality of the world crisis today. Having read this book, I will never go on a cruise ship again. Received an advanced review copy of this novel from the author.
Probably the best, most exciting book I've read this year! Don't miss it. It will rock your world!!
ARK: OUTBREAK (A Mega-virus Apocalyptic Thriller Book 1) by Steven Moore and Ray Tinsiano is a killer thriller for sure. I just couldn't put it down until everything was resolved. And that's the one problem with the book for me. It ended in a cliffhanger! OMG!! I was so into the book, turned a page and saw THE END. I wanted to scream!! I want part 2 right now! Can't remember when I've been so captivated by a book.
Hard not to think of our current newscasts warning of a possible Coronavirus pandemic!
I was given a copy of this book, but this is a voluntary and honest review.
How more up to the minute can a book be! I couldn’t put this book down. A terrifying situation on a cruise ship that will have you up late into the night to read. Lots of action in a way too possible a situation.
I don't usually read books in this genre. That said, this book grabbed me and made me read until I finished it. And then to find out it's in a series with a wild cliff hanger to boot! I can't wait for the next book! A little gory but overall a great book. I'm hooked.
Arrrggghhh!!!!! I couldn't put this book down and with everything going on in the world right now it's downright scary. Thank goodness the Coronavirus isn't this bad. The only bad thing about this book is it's not the end. They left us hanging or floating as the Cruise Ship is.
This book had plenty of action and characters that felt real. With the current times of the world, dealing with Covid, this book seems real. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
What an intriguing story. A virus that’s deadly, stuck on a cruise ship with people dying around them. Craig thought this would be special, how wrong. Every page I turned brought more danger. Fantastic
