why have i read this you might ask - don't question me
let's get going, let's just get gone
this review will be especially annoying and will contain SPOILERS because why shouldn't it at this point. it doesn't matter. you shouldn't read this book, it's not particularly good
🍑 we are using the peach emoji cause... i won't explain. think people. you know why.
🍑 let's get it out of the way: Kevin and Sandro - horrible names. no offense to all the Kevins and Sandros out there (except my former master thesis advisor who is also named Kevin - he can go fuck himself. fuck you Kevin, like really) but neither name is especially sexy. you know what a sexy name is? i won't say it, but we're all thinking it. anyway. i can look past Kevin's unsexy name (i really can't actually, but let's pretend) but a Dom should have a sexy name. i don't make the rules.
🍑 Sandro calls him "baby boy". no. i do not agree with this. stop it right now. this is not what we need as a society.
🍑 so the plot: Kevin is basically homeless at this point (not really, but let's pretend) and he needs money (we all do) so his friend with whom he lives after his parents kinda kicked him out is like "you know what you need: a daddy" and kevin is like "but i am a virgin" and his friend is like "doesn't matter, i already send your nudes to this daddy dom i know. btw i am NOT a pimp" and kevin is like "okay i'll fuck him" and i'm like "oh boy"
🍑 kevin then sells his virginity for 10k which - i did not know we could do that??? i'm out here giving it to people for free and you all are getting paid???? i would have gladly sold my virginity for 10k, it's called smart financial decisions
🍑 kevin obviously starts calling sandro daddy from the first second because you gotta prove you're worth the 10k, hun!!!
🍑 he fucks sandro on his yacht because sandro (who owns an island btw, because of course he does) only let's special✨ boys onto his property and Kevin really wants to be a special✨ boy. so he's like "daddy, i want to go on the island" and sandro is like"you can, but there are RULES" and i am like "of course there are"
🍑 so the rules are that kevin has to stay on this island for an entire year, he can leave but if he does he can't come back. he isn't allowed internet, can only phone a select few people if sandro allows it and also there is a room which he is not allowed to go in under no circumstances
🍑 every sensible person would be like "oh, that's his room where he kills people :)"
🍑 so kevin agrees to the terms and conditions even though he has known that man for only one hour and he's obviously a killer but who cares because kevin is high on endorphins after loosing his virginity (i would be too, if i got 10k for it) and he also desperately wants to get fucked without a condom, so what's a little time in a murder cabin if you can have cum dripping out your ass :)
🍑 he also get's 1 Million for this whole year. so. honestly. what's a little time in the murder cabin when you can have 1 million bucks. i'd do it

🍑 understandably kevin is really upset about this and demands to know what is in the room to which sandro responds with a spanking BECAUSE THIS IS TOTALLY THE RIGHT THING TO DO AFTER YOUR SUB WAS NEARLY R*PED?????????????????????????????
🍑 kevin kinda forgets about the room until a time skip later when it's their "anniversary" and kevin is like "i sure hope daddy let's me stay forever <3" to which daddy is like "come into the forbidden room please, and bring a big pillow"
🍑 SURPRISE THE ROOM IS A TORTURE CHAMBER WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT. not kevin, who thought it's a gaming room
🍑 Kevin obviously kills his nearly-r*pist with the big pillow sandro asks him to bring and sandro is like "i will give you 2 million for this" and kevin is like "but i want your love" and sandro is like "okay, but you need to know that i kill people" and kevin is like "that's fine, can i have it in the ass please?" and then they fuck (while there is a corpse lying there, dead, one room away. really sets the mood huh)

Sandro is a mysterious older man who likes his boys to follow certain rules. Upon meeting Kevin, Sandro feels an affinity towards him and makes him a sizeable offer.
This story began as sweet and kinky between Kevin and Sandro. Being a softer sugar daddy, he wanted to keep Kevin happy and took great pleasure from his enthusiasm. While Kevin gave his all to Sandro, he wondered about what he was keeping secret in his forbidden room until all the details couldn’t no longer be hidden.
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Kevin and Sandro, especially when Kevin dressed up in lace for his daddy. Though the mystery element kept me intrigued, I would have liked a little more development on that part.
Overall, this novella was naughty and playful with a bit of darkness to satisfy.

What the....This was short but WILD. It went from hearts and flowers to blood and gore in ten seconds flat. Then back to hearts and flowers. Then back to blood and gore. But the ending is a happy one -of course- so hop on the crazy train and enjoy the ride.
So...what we have here is:
-Daddy/boy dynamic, very well done IMO.
-MANTIES (stockings included)
-Crazy hot sex.
-Mystery/ suspense throughout the whole story.
-A touch of dark (although I expected all kinds of crazy shit behind that white door. This was kinda tame for the Merikan standards).
IThe story was very short but I really feel it was fully developed. However, I'd love to read a full story with these two characters.

This is exactly what I expect from these authors blood and gore with sex thrown in.
Unfortunately it suffered from something that I'm not great with; being short with a lot thrown in too fast. That's why I usually try to stay away from books that are under 200 pages. They hardly ever work for me. There is too much missing and the sex felt off. It was a little awkward and I didn't feel the chemistry.
What I do appreciate about this story is the twisted way these authors minds work. I appreciate the story and how dark they go. But in the end it was too much awkward sex with not enough story.

WTF DID I JUST READ?! This book is WILD! It started sweet and funny and scorching HOT and all of sudden I was clutching my pearls and holding my breath because it got so scary and tense! I had at least 3 theories for the damn white door and NONE of them was the right one.
Sandro (daaamn Daddy) and Kevin are so freaking sexy and the dirty talk...yum yum. Just wish it was longer and there was more mystery and more sexy times.

Two stars is for "it was okay" right? That's what this story was for me: just okay.
Both the main characters are a bit bland, and weren't essential to keep me engrossed in the story. The daddy-boy relationship delevoped way too fast, and the secret behind the infamous white door, despite being tempting enough to keep me curious, didn't make this book any better.

This book was wild! It was very sweet and HOT. Although the mystery element kept me intrigued, I would have liked a little more improvement on that part. The big revalation wasn't surprising. I'm a huge fan of dark romance books so I was expecting this book to be more darker but it wasn't. This was not the best book I've read, but it was worth reading nevertheless.

I am a fan of KA. No doubt there. The premise here though is completely wackadoodle. Now, if you meant for it to be that way, sort of a crazy thought brought on by too much coffee, well, I'm all for it. On the other hand, ...

Kevin and Sandro
Wow, that was one excellent read! Unpredictable af. I love that in a story!
Hot steamy sex, Daddy kink, lace, sugar Daddy, wealth, angst, you name it, it’s there.
Kevin got an offer from a rich Daddy. For one year he has to be his willing boy with his body available. He will be pampered in luxury and in the end, Kevin will have one million bucks.
There are some very strict rules and last but not least, there is a forbidden room and there will be no questions. Breaking any rules? He will send away!
Kevin has the best time, developing feelings he never had before, Sandro is a fair Daddy and smitten by his boy, everything goes well until all hell breaks loose.
This was an unbelievable captivatingly written story, entertaining and enjoyable. When the dark side got in the picture, that was so great done. It was written in a strong way and I was so happy it wasn’t predictable. These authors know how to write!

Good setup and some hot kink, but the finish felt half-hearted. Like it relied too much on the mystery and lost focus on the characters and story. I wish this had been a straightforward dark romance instead of building the story around the mystery of one room which was a bit of an anti-climax.

I shouldn't have interrupted reading this one by listening to His Favorite Color is Blood; the story probably would have rated higher (maybe) but it lacked the character introspection and relationship development in comparison, especially considering what went on in that room.
Haven't finished the Guns N' Boys series, but I almost expect Sandro to have been a side character of some sort.
But the lingerie scenes were hot.

This wasn’t as dark as their other books and I think it fits. This was a quick read (only 11 chapters), and categorized on their website as short but a complete novel. I liked the virgin angle though when Kevin met Sandro he didn’t protest too much. I liked Sandro as a Daddy when he’s with Kevin, soft and not so stern. Sweet and hot and not unexpected coming from this writing duo. Not gonna nitpick the story, I enjoyed it for what it is.

I’ve been binging these authors books all week long and this short one is exactly what I’ve come to expect from them. Very hot, hooked me from the start and the suspense part had me wishing the book was longer. Loved the MCs together...just wished we could’ve seen their relationship develop more instead of the time jumping — but that’s to be expected from short reads.

This was my kind of story! And really with a title like that I knew it would be right up my alley. For those of you who don't know, my thing is kind of Daddy kink.... in a big way.
So yea 3 stars right off the bat for using that very special word.
Ok to the Nitty gritty. I loved this! This novella was kinky, sexy and as character driven as a kinky novella can be. It was also full of my two favourite tropes, morally ambiguous main characters and attempted rape with the hero swopping in to the rescue.
The story really wasn't that surprising and it was pretty simple in its execution but that was perfect for a novella. I'll definitely reread this when I'm after something quick, fun and sexy.
Recommended for anyone and everyone who enjoys any of the things I mentioned in this review!

*sigh* And now I'm mad
Soo... This wasn't good. And while I don't believe in trash-talking books for the sake of trash-talking books, I can't bring myself to sugarcoat this review any more than I already have so let me just say this was pretty bad.
I'm pretty good at recognizing what I like very quickly. Usually when I read something I don't like I'll DNF it, won't write a review, and move on with my life. I'm not the target audience so it kind of sort of makes sense that I wouldn't enjoy it. However, such is not the case here. I am most definitely the target audience for this book. I read daddy kink, I read age gap, and I love a good dark romance every now and again. This book was in many ways was written for me. And yet I find myself grasping at straws to find something good to say about this. The idea was good I guess. The premise was interesting and there was a lot of potential here. But God was the ball drop so hard. The dialogue alone was not only cringey but... Who talks like that!? People in their low teens who's never interacted with adults aside from their parents and teachers? That sounds really mean I know but yes it was that bad.
Then there's Kevin. Kevin was not a character. Kevin was a name. That is all. He was a name who occasionally said things and did things once or twice. I don't even remember the other dude's name and I just finished this book. Moving on.
Next, and I know this is something really minor but bear with me for a second okay. There's a scene where Kevin is spanked. Later in the book, he says how about spanking left him bruised for days afterward. Kevin was spanked four times, open-handed. Not to out myself or anything but you've got to spank someone pretty hard, for a pretty lengthy amount of time, with more than just your hand, to do that level of damage. You don't have to be in the lifestyle to know that. That's a Google search. If that is not the best example of lazy writing I don't know what it is.
And finally, because this review is getting really mean, let's talk about the ending or "the twist" if you feel so inclined to call it. We all saw it coming from a mile away right. And if you didn't, you've probably never read a dark romance before, that's not your fault. But for the people who know this genre, we all knew what was going to happen. We all knew what was behind that door, it wasn't really a secret. Go on, read the blurb again and tell me you have no idea what's going to happen. Go ahead, I'll wait. I point this out because there was no creativity here. This could have been really good and it could have been really dark but it wasn't. The only dark thing that happens doesn't occur until the last like three chapters of the book. And then y'all have the audacity to play it off like it really isn't that dark and everything's hunky-dory. Like what!?
I'm not only annoyed that I read this book (I could give more examples of why this is bad but they'd be "spoilers" I guess) I'm mad about it. This had so much potential. And I don't just say that blindly, I've seen what these authors can do and they are not bad writers. But this, they really dropped the ball on this one. And I don't know if it's because they were trying to meet a deadline (I'm a part of the Facebook group this was released for) or just plain laziness, but it wasn't good. 2 stars because there was potential but that's about it.

Not my thing.
I love Daddy kink, so I was like yes, please.
I knew this was going to be dark, but I enjoy a bit of 'hey, my boyfriend is a sociopath, but he'd kill to protect me.' So I was totally onboard.
Non spoilery: The book is rushed. There's a good premise buried in here, but the book is way too short to do it justice. The beginning starts out ok, but the second Sandro and Kevin get to the mansion, bam! Everything is hasty and almost nonsensical due to obvious plot holes and lack of connection between the MCs.
The Daddy kink has no build. They spend a day on Sandro's yacht and that intro is more detailed than the next year they spend together. I'm going to put the rest under a spoiler cut:
This author team deserves another chance, because they have some excellent books. This just wasn't one of them. I think it's because there is 600 page novel here, it just got crammed into 200 pages.

This had the potential to be fucking awesome. I’ve read other books by these authors and LOVED them, so I know they can write and are capable of freaking greatness. This one fell short.
There was so much “skipping over time” that I felt cheated of a good portion of the story. I wanted more page time with this couple. I wanted more conversation so I could connect better with the story and characters.
Also...omfg, why can’t you tell us the age of Sandro???? I fucking HATE when authors make a point of drilling into the reader that there’s an “age gap”, or an “older man”, yet they refuse to tell us the age of said older man. Grrrr. Why? I have no idea how they even think that’s okay.
I won’t give spoilers away, but I had already figured out (pretty much) what the secret room was. I wasn’t blown away when I finally found out. I did, however, feel that the way Kevin handled it was...hmm, what’s the word? Unbelievable?
Sandro isn’t who Kevin thought and yet Kevin is like really chill with it. I was disappointed by the whole thing.

4 stars. Damn! What did I just read? Seriously, that was hot, intense, dark, and crazy as hell. I have quite a few of this author's books on my TBR and this made me want to read them all as soon as possible. The writing was good, the characters were fascinating, the smut was out of this world hot and the ending had me clutching my damn pearls because holy shit I didn't see that coming. Sandro (yum!) and Kevin had such great chemistry and I am impressed at how much the author was able to make work in this book with so few pages. And that's really my only complaint is that it's entirely too short for me. I wanted at least another 150 pages or so but as it is it's fucking fantastic and I definitely plan on reading it again.

It gripped me from the first page and didn’t let go. Like Kevin, I wanted to know what was up with his Daddy and the forbidden room and K.A. Merikan didn’t disappoint. A dark and sexy read that makes you crave more.

I do love reading a book thinking I know what I’m getting, it’s about Kevin who his best friend Brandon sets him up with a sugar daddy Sandro and intimate hot sexy scenes. I knew it would have some darkness as it’s the Merikan way but didn’t expect what happened, I’m not going to say anymore but honestly you need to buy this story, it had such a WOW factor ending.
