Not necessarily a history but more of an general overview of the country. Its first chapter quickly explores the history of Colombia with an emphasis on the 16th until 19th century, quickly moving on to modern times. In order to introduce the general overview: politics, geography, demography and a brief outlook on its natural resources and nature.

A succinct flight read to get some basic knowledge about the country. It covers all the essential topics from pre-BC to modern history and covers the economy, geographic elements, technology and science.

This book is basically someone's college essay - reformatted into book form.. I ordered it to do some background work - and was very very disappointed. Despite the title, there is nothing fascinating about this double-spaced (very widely spaced) essay.
