Escape to a little seaside village, where the sea sparkles and change is in the air. The perfect place to fall in love. Includes both bestselling books in this gorgeously romantic series, The Little Village of Happiness and The Gift of Happiness.
Best friends, Willow McKay and Ruby Marlowe, need a fresh start. Desperate for a change, an advert offering free cottages in a picturesque village on the Cornish coast sounds like just what they need. Without thinking twice they pack up their lives and head to the pretty seaside village of Happiness. But when they arrive, they find ramshackle cottages, shops lying empty and villagers that seem in need of cheer themselves. It's nothing like the pretty picture the advert had boasted. It seems Happiness was too good to be true. That is until they meet the handsome Harrington brothers.
Holly lives in a little white cottage by the sea. She studied media at university which led to a very glitzy career as a hotel receptionist followed by a even more glamorous two years working in a bank. The moment that one of her colleagues received the much coveted carriage clock for fifteen years’ service was the moment when she knew she had to escape. She quit her job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, she emerged wide eyed and terrified that she now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. She taught for four years and then escaped the classroom to teach history workshops, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next. But the long journeys around the UK and many hours sat on the M25 gave her a lot of time to plan out her stories and she now writes full time, doing what she loves.
Holly has been writing for 8 years. She was shortlisted for the New Talent Award at the Festival of Romance. Her short story won the Sunlounger competition and was published in the Sunlounger anthology. She won the Carina Valentine’s competition at the Festival of Romance with her novel The Guestbook. She was shortlisted for Best Romantic Read, Best eBook and Innovation in Romantic Fiction at the Festival of Romance. She is the bestselling author of 26 books selling over a million books worldwide. Holly's books have been translated into French, German, Italian, Dutch, Bulgarian, Estonian, Turkish and Russian.
This set of two stories are a perfect antidote to the world's problems. The beautiful Cornish coastal setting, a cast of amusing minor characters and two wonderful heroes in the Harrington brothers. Willow and Ruby have different reasons for being scared of love, but these books are very much about overcoming adversity within the cost setting. I have to say that I was irritated by Lottie. What sort of sister keeps calling in on her thirty-something brothers unannounced with a small child in tow? I know it was a plot device, but I didn't warm to her at all.
I loved this series. I loved the characters in this book and love that they are all there to help each other. I love the village family. Willow and Andrew and perfect together and I love how Ruby and Jacob find each other. Their back stories are all compelling and how they overcome them. Great stories!!
Iv read a lot of Holly martins books, and although I enjoy them , I am now finding them extremely predictable. New village, cute guy, will they won’t they (they always do), they get together, they fall out, they get back together, and all this in the space of two weeks! Within two months they’re engaged. I feel like the stories need a bit more depth.
I had already read book one but didn't tire of reading it again. Book two was very predictable from page one. A pleasant read. Not sure about Holly's fascination with condoms!
Absolutely loved these books, the characters were fabulous. The village of happiness reminds me of Clovelly in North Devon. Can’t wait to read more of Holly Martin’s books. If you haven’t discovered Holly yet, what are you waiting for?
I loved these stories, they make you feel happy and hopeful. Great read would love to read follow on stories about jacob and ruby and cal and lottie, where there fairytales took them.
Absolutely magical. Holly I love your books, you are amazing and anyone reading this who has never picked up one of Holly's books before... What are you waiting for!! X
Really enjoyed both books had a real feel good vibe to them. They were a bit predictable but the stories were so lovely it didn't matter. If Happiness was a real place I would definitely like to live there.
So romantic and how good it would be to live in a village where only nice folk are allowed. Being familiar with Cornwall though I somehow doubt that such a place exists.
All the way through I just smiled and smiled. It made me feel good reading it and I enjoyed all the characters and the thought of a village, somewhere, waiting to come alive.
Love Holly Martin books, characters come alive, they become like friends. Really enjoyed these two books and their involvement in the village of Happiness
I really didn’t want this series to end. I fell in love with all the characters and I really hope for more stories from the Little Village of Happiness.
