A species created by man to serve and obey. But we made a mistake…we gave it fangs. We designed them for our use. To wage our greedy wars, toil in our poisonous lunar mines. We made them pleasing to the eye so our children would not have nightmares, tall and strong and smart so they would adapt to environments never meant to sustain life. We thought we had created the perfect sub-species. Obedient. Disposable. How wrong we were.Helios stands alone. The first of a dying race. He has spent his life fighting to free his kind. To avenge them. His world is a cold, desolate one that has never been touched by grace or light until a hot-tempered woman, a human, marches into his life, his home and his guarded heart. Through Dawn's dry humor and passionate embrace, he learns to trust again and to love. But just as he starts to hope, she is stolen from him. With his light gone, all that is left is darkness and revenge. They took the one thing he loved and Helios will stop at nothing to get Dawn back. Even damn his eternal, vampire soul.

Mother, spouse, older sister, writer, ex-soldier, high school drop-out, dog owner (or dog owned), half couch potato, half intermittent jogger, wannabe renovator and avid reader who watches too much television, sinks too much money in clothes, likes animals more than humans, recycles, wore braces, never downloads copyrighted stuff, was a nerd without the grades, has a belly laugh that turns heads in theaters, can't stand bullying, is mother hawk more than mother hen, votes even if candidates aren't that great and thinks formal education is highly overrated (probably because she has none).

I don't know why I stopped reading. I really don't. Guess this book just didn't fit my taste. It does in a way, but the plot of the story needs working on.I skipped the whole story towards the end, mostly cause I didn't like how Helios was described with other woman. He should have been with Dawn and only her throughout the book, and not have imagined other woman doing things only couples should do. I guess being grossed out by this made me skip towards the end of the book, but who knows. Might also be how the storys played out. 2rating.

SPOILERS:
Helios kidnaps Dawn because she has the key to the freedom of his vampires. He has an instant attraction, and proof of that was when he almost drained her when he drank her sweet, sweet blood. He takes her into his home, ready to convince her no matter what that she should help vampires. But what he never imagined was to fall for her instead.
In the end the cure for vamps is caught and held in the hands of all the vampires. Freedom at last, well, after Helios found out that Dawn was still alive-he had a killing rage when he thought she was dead-literally.

Damnation by Nathalie Gray

Interesting paranormal in that vampires were created by man as the perfect slave to toll in the mines for them. Like all things, when you mess with nature it has a way of coming back to bite you in the ass. What do you expect when you make them stronger, smarter and give them fangs!

This futuristic/sci-fi story paints a picture that is not much different than today in that prejudices still exist in the world only these prejudices are also against that which man created…vampires. Well after 200 or so years the First Vampire Helios is leading the charge (BOOM) to freedom for his kind. See above note…bite you in the ass;)

The relationship between Helios and Dawn was explosive from the start so for the most part I enjoyed the story and the premise was interesting. What dragged the story down for me were the two scenes where Helios is in a rage and was slaughtering all in sight. That got confusing for me and the reason why was not explained well. I also needed more closure in the end since I don’t believe this is a series…yet?

Helios is the first vampire created by humans. It is his goal to free his race from their human masters. He kidnaps Dawn who is a senior executive at Hemosynthec Corporation. Hemosynthec has come up with a formula which will set the vampires free from the restrictions placed on them by their human creators...

I loved the sci-fi futuristic aspects with the blend of the paranormal. It for me was a fun read. It was sexy. It was hot. It is worth your time.
