A fake boyfriend leads to a secret relationship, sizzling encounters and love, when long-time best friends give into their feelings and fall into an unforgettable MMF romance.
JULES Jules just got a job offer and it could not have come at a better time. Days away from ending up on the streets, she has a chance encounter with a forgotten college classmate who offers her a weird proposal. If she pretends to be his girlfriend for a few weeks, she and her mother can keep their home.
It turns out that Laine has become richer than god since she last saw him. So, why would he need someone to pretend to be his girlfriend? And why would he reach into the past and ask her?
LAINE Laine breaks things. Companies, markets, hearts, nothing is safe once he sets his sights on them. That's what made him a billionaire and why everyone worships the ground this cocky ass walks on.... That is, everyone except for one man. And for Laine, that one man is the only person who matters.
REED Unlike his long time best friend, Laine, Reed couldn't care less about money. In fact, after college, while Laine was becoming a corporate raider, Reed moved to a small island in the Bahamas to run an after school program for less privileged kids.
His is a quiet life... that is, except for when Laine comes to visit. So, when Laine invites Reed to stay with him on Laine's private island telling him that he will be bringing a guest, Reed braces himself for what could follow. But, as much as he prepares himself, he could never guess what Laine would do next, and how much it would change their feelings for each other.
'Hurricane Laine' is a steamy bisexual romance with as many laughs as twists and turns. Its heart, tearful moments, and sexy scenes will keep you reading, and its not-to-be-missed HEA ending will leave you satisfied and wanting to read it again.

This book is a true wonder, it’s filled with love, self determination, hidden desire and friendships. I must say I really couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it Not to mention the twist alone will have you guessing til the end. I love the growth in the characters especially Laine. I must say he really needed a change and his attitude was the pits. I must say everything he did was indeed done out of love and it paid off in the end with the heart speaking.
I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
I have enjoyed this book and there was actually a story behind each character and how they ended up where they did, instead of just sex scenes throughout there was actually and emotional connection between them all. Will now download Blaze and see what he gets up to.

These books have a lot of potential. The story is good. It’s the fact the author spends so much time only giving one side of the relationship. The books are showcased as bisexual/poly, but you literally don’t get that to the epilogue. You know Lanie is in love with Reed, but bring ignored makes him bitter. I think the author should have shown us glimpses into his actual character way before 87%. I honestly thought he was a jerk. It was hard to turn that off at the end.I liked Jules and even laughed at her sleeping with Reed. I think though that the author needs to let the women in the books develop relationships with both men. Honestly it made no sense Jules and Laine were in instant love right at the end. She had one tender moment with him. I can understand that Reed denied his feelings because his dad was homophobic. Those feelings made sense to me. I think that the book just needed be a bit longer to develop the true nature of the relationships. It’s so short that it the books aren’t quite coming together. I could imagine Reed and Jules together. I couldn’t see them all together because we didn’t get any moments other than sex one time.
Jules and her mom are days away from being homeless when she runs into Laine, a guy from college and he offers her a load of cash if she will pretend to be his girlfriend. Reed moved to Bimini after college to help others and has been friends with Laine since college. Reed always had a crush on Jules in school, what will happen when Laine brings her on his visit to see him? Fast-paced read with plenty with plenty of drama and suspense. The chemistry between all three is steamy and the story is fast—paced with lots of twists and turns. I liked it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. So I really don't know what to make of this one. Laine is just an egotisical idiot and Reed to blind and hurt to see what's in front of him - namely Laine who has loved him since College but has a strange way of showing it. And Jules, well - she just needed the money... The characters did develop during the story but it still couldn't convince me.
This book was not for me. I love me some MMF books, but this one felt very disconnected. I struggled to see a connection between Laine, Jules, and Reed. Laine and Reed, I understood and felt a little more but even that felt forced. The way the story played out didn't work for me either. Laine just seemed like a huge jerk that then overnight he changes...yeah I didn't buy it. The ending even felt forced and rushed overall. I'm going to pass on the rest of these books.
This was my first book by this author. The characters were mostly good. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t like Laine. You would think that not coming from money, then becoming a billionaire, would make him a little more tolerable towards other people. Even when he realized what he needed to do to win back Reed, he was rude and abrasive. Overall, I thought the storyline was pretty good.
This book was... OK. Editing-wise it was mostly fine. There was one instance where one character called another by his own name, which threw me off, but other than that any grammatical or spelling errors were not bad enough to throw me off.
Content-wise, is something different. The characters were very flat to me. It seems that more time could have been spent fleshing them out. And when I get 75% into a book and I still can't stand one of the main characters, something isn't quite right. It is hard to believe that all of a sudden at the end of the book, things just turn around, characters suddenly fall in love when previously they didn't even seem to like each other, and everything just falls into place. Laine just comes across as a whiny kid throwing a tantrum most of the time. There wasn't anything likable about him for me, even after he seemed to suddenly change. I certainly would have a hard time trusting that change, considering how manipulative he was initially.
This book started out great, and it had great potential, but it seemed to just get shallower the more into it I got. I don't know if that is because of the writing or if it was because I just lost interest and wanted to simply get through it to the end.
Overall, I did not enjoy this book as much as I wanted to, and would not recommend. The plot was something different, so I gave an extra star.
Irredeemable and manipulative finds eye opening humility through love and family Hurricane Laine by Alex McAnders is a good and interesting read that is engaging and attention getting. The characters in this book are diametrically opposites, all complicit in the conflict and harboring similar feelings deep down, just not knowing what to do with them. I really enjoyed reading each of the characters perspectives as the story progressed and developed. I found this book, it’s plot and characters, very captivating. Laine seems to have all the power and has truly let that fact go to his head. Jules and Reed tolerate him, but when it becomes there’s more going on than they realize, everyone gets hurt and their circumstances seem irreconcilable. Through the ups and downs, the reader gets to know each character it his/her own. Each of them have their own good traits as well as faults. Only one of them sees through the faults and finds a way to help the others see it. Overall, a dramatic exploration of a romantic relationship none of them ever expected but all of them embrace for the beginning of a unique and special family. I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
The story of quins parents. Jules is broke and working at a temp agency that keeps telling her they can’t use her for jobs anymore when she runs into laine in a coffee shop. Laine is headed to visit his bestie reed who lives in the Bahamas and asks Jules to go with him as his take fiance. She doesn’t realize it’s reed from college. Reed who was infatuated with her. Laine is actually infatuated with reed. They go to a private island that laine bought but then they get stranded there because of a wicked bad hurricane. Then they all start screwing each other. Then the hurricane is over and reed goes back to his shanty in Bilmiri and it’s gone. His neighbors are dead. The island is destroyed. Laine doesn’t understand wtf. Jules has to go home to take care of her mother with the money laine promised her if she agreed to go to the Bahamas. After a while Jules decides to go back to the island to volunteer. And eventually laine goes too. Laine brings a shit ton of lumber and stuff to rebuild Jules is giving out meals. But reed is still pissed that they tricked him and is mad at them both. In the end he forgives them both and they have a poly relationship the end.

This is a beautiful story. Laine is an out of touch with reality billionaire. Jules is sort of a free spirit, just go for it, kind-hearted woman. She and her mother have a lot of debt. Reed doesn't care about money and lives his life helping others. Reed and Laine have been friends since college. Laine appears to be rubbing his success in Reed's face and puts him down constantly, because he doesn't understand why he would choose to live like that.
I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say Laine and Reed both have motivations for why they are each living their lives the way they are, and for Laine, why he treats Reed the way he does. Jules, luckily for her, although sometimes appearing unlucky, is pulled in.
Ever since he met him, Laine has been attracted to his best friend. Jules is desperate to help her mother out. All Reed has wanted is an escape. Will they find a common ground? Will they be able to find love together?
I have to admit, Laine is that character that I have a love-hate relationship, but I loved seeing him slowly change over time. I didn't blame Jules for her part in what happened because I loved how she stepped up, admitted it and then went about making corrections and doing the right thing. I loved how Reed claimed both the people he loved and allowed himself to feel. Good read!

I received this book as part of an ARC review. I'll admit that I was thinking of a three star rating for this book but the end of the book after the hurricane made me wish I could do a four and a half rating. Once the manipulations and selfish acts stopped, the true personalities of Laine, Jules and Reed came out. The chemistry that was between the three was there but once they were being true to themselves and others, it came to full bloom. Reed was the last holdout but finally faced how he really felt. Laine learnt that grand gestures were not needed, just heartfelt ones. Jules, I believe, will be the glue to hold all of them together. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
This book was so bad it was good, I heavily suggest listening to the audiobook because the guy voice actor is hilarious in intentional and unintentional ways 😂 I had a migraine at the beginning of this book for unrelated reasons but I laughed so much I forgot.
If you are coming for hot smut, keep moving, but if you want smut that makes you go “I don’t think this person knows how any of this works, do they not know about bacterial infections?” This is the book for you.
One of the love interest is a supervillain but he’s funny, think if megamind was hot and knew he was hot. The FMC kinda forgets she’s in the story sometimes but still so funny and I support women’s rights and wrongs.
I am a fan of MMF romances but they are normally lacking in character development. This is my first book by Alex McAnders and I thrilled. This book is sometimes funny, heartbreaking, touching and a joy to read. I don't want to give a synopsis of the story because I don't believe that is the purpose of a review. I simply want to encourage anyone who wants to enjoy a well written good old fashioned sexy book, look no more.
With everything these guys go through, it’s amazing how much one changes for the better and that they all get their HEA. Laine doesn’t understand why there’s so much contempt towards him, he’s only trying to make the guy he loves love him, but he’s not getting that the love was already there, it’s just been pushed back because of the pretentious a$$ he’s become. I loved watching them all work together and finally figuring things out. Can’t wait for more!
I received a free ARC of this novel via Hidden Gems in exchange for a review. My opinion is my own.
This was a new type of romance for me. If you're not comfortable with bisexual sex scenes, I would skip this book. If it doesn't bother I would recommend it. There are more interactions between the men than the female but they were the main relationship so it felt right. The plot was good and there was very nice character development. I enjoyed it.
I found this hard to read in that it seemed I credibly juvenile. I don't know anything about the author, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were only very young. The characters had good background but their relationship was very naive, the change in Laine's entire character was fast and the sex scenes were desperately unrealistic in many ways. Plus the book was littered with mistakes. I won't be picking up the next book I'm afraid.
I don't know why this author writes such despicable characters. Laine was a master manipulator who was selfish as heck. He only used Jules to get to Reed. Jules was as much of a victim as Reed was yet Reed gave her as much flack as he did Laine. I feel like Liane only got away with things simply because of his money. At the end of it all, Reed easily forgave and clearly showed more favoritism to Laine. Laine IS a psycho and didn't do enough to redeem himself.
Whoa. Just... Whoa. Commonly an mmf revolves around the relationship not being accepted in today's society. Not this book. This book takes three people who knew each other in college and gives them a chance that seems so convoluted you'll never believe it. At times you want to slap a character with their own book. But the happy ending makes it all better.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. This story was very entertaining and realistic. It kept me wondering how this story would end. The characters are easy to understand and love.
Lo odie. Fue tan... Ugh.
The characterization in this book was the best part. The overall plot was ok but some of the writing felt blocky and the dialogue was choppy. I’m still on the fence about reading book 2.
Thank God this book was only 181 pages. I'm pretty against dnr'ing a book but getting through this one was rough. It read like a junior high kid wrote it. The only thing that saved it was the feel good story line.
