This is Lee’s story of his one true love and his quest to get over her and move on, by contacting her after 20+ years.

I found him at times, insightful, hopelessly romantic, immature and mature and slightly pathetic. Despite his claims, it is clear he was hoping (at least in some part of his brain) for a reconciliation and walk into the sunset ending – which wasn’t to be – thankfully, from my point of view – which I know is possibly not nice of me, given that this is his actual experience, but I don’t think it is terribly nice of him to crash into someone’s life either – although his arrival inadvertently saved Sarah’s marriage (it could so easily have gone the other way).

Some pithy observations almost make this an interesting read, but there are no more than you’d get sitting around with cake, coffee and some close friends.

If I had to give a one word review, I’d probably say “self-indulgent” and my lasting impression is that the book would’ve made a good blog…
