This was the first book I read by myself as a little kid. Now that that I'm older I realize that it's actually a really good book for children learning to read. On the first page they have a list of all the words they use. There are only 20 DIFFERENT words in this book. They talk about how children can only grasp certain words. I'm not going to rate it five stars because it wasn't really anything new. They had talking animals and I'm pretty sure it said, "good-night little kitten" in every scene. But it was set up well and is a must for beginning readers. I recommend it for ages 2-5.

My son is only 2 1/2 but he is reading and I credit this book. When I would read it to him I would take his finger and point to each word. It wasn't long before he was doing it on his own. I'm looking for more books just like this.
