Fool me once? Shame on you. Fool me twice? Not going to happen…
Step one: Go back to school with a thick skin and an impenetrable heart. Step two: Make the queen bees pay. Step three: Bring down the Rogues of Everly Prep.
Bullied, befriended, and betrayed, my life has been an emotional roller coaster since moving into the Kincaid Mansion and enrolling at Everly Prep. After everything they did to me and all I went through to prove myself innocent, they received a slap on the wrist and a stern talking to—their punishment wasn’t nearly enough.
So I had to take matters into my own hands.
I had a plan and a few select friends I trusted to help me pull it off. Together, we were going to turn this school upside down. Last semester, they nearly destroyed me. This semester was Chaz Miller’s time.
The second move was mine, and it was going to be epic.
Wendi Wilson is a mother to two rambunctious boys, a fat black cat, two ferrets, and a pup named Izzy. She spends her time watching her boys play baseball and football, volunteering at school, reading and writing.
She enjoys reading YA paranormal romance, NA romance, and dystopian novels. Her first book, Shadowed Strength, is the culmination of 20+ years of work, a dream finally realized.
Usually, the revenge book makes me happy. The heroine has spent the first book having the absolute worst time and has just scraped through, and now she should get to have some fun, but also face her own darkness and rise above it, and then learn the truth that makes it ok for her to be with the bully because he's not actually that bad etc etc.
But this book just made me sad. I think it's the mean girls. They are so mean, but they are also victims and I kind of hate the way this plot works because I'm being asked to accept that the bully boys had a noble reason for being horrible, but that the mean girls were willingly and enthusiastically being horrible, even though all of them are victims.
The secrets behind why the heroine was targeted don't really stand up to analysis, and set up a third book where the outcome also makes no sense (I checked).
After the events that transpired in the first book of the series Chaz is feeling hurt, betrayed and is looking for revenge against those she believes were responsible despite the fact that a person she believes she can trust tells her all is not as it seems.
With the help of her best friend Josh and her new friend Simone she plans the perfect plan against each of the Rogues and the Roguettes however they won’t be the only ones hurt and Chaz must face the consequences of her actions.
I enjoyed seeing the friendship between Mason, Seth, Theo & Cooper as well as the friendship that Chaz has with Josh and Simone as secrets are revealed and the surprises keep coming. I enjoyed the performance of the narrator as she allowed us to understand Chaz and her actions even if we may not have agreed with them all. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession
I seriously love this book more than the first! Chaz learns some major life lessons in this installment, and I just love the way her character is developing. It was satisfying to learn the answers to the questions brought up in the first book, and that ending...I'm excited to see where this story is going. You don't have to be "into" bully romances to appreciate this well-written, page-turning series!
Chaz is a badass, yes she was a bit brutal and didn’t really get the facts. But she was loyal to a fault a payback is B... I can’t wait to read the 3rd book to find out what chaz is going to do. Really good story and filled with intrigue and angst. Bully girls and hot guys!! Worth the read!
I really enjoyed reading the first book and I was excited to read the second one with how the first one left off. However, I was left seriously aggravated for like 80% of this book.
It felt like the author was constantly trying to convince you that chaz was out of control and a bad person for the things she was doing. I’m comparison to what had happened to her what she did was so tame in her attempt for revenge.
When it came to Seth he upset me the most he was in a way responsible for naked picture of her being posted on the internet. Once the reason for there betrayal came out I was even more frustrated with Seth. He had no legitimate reason to follow through in Stella and Masons parents plans. It was clear his dad didn’t care what they wanted for his son and he wouldn’t follow there dumb marriage set up. He essentially had nothing to lose which was opposite of Theo and Connor whose parents clearly didn’t care about them. Obviously when stellas started to be used as a bargaining chip I saw the reason Seth jumped at abandoning his sister. But he had been going along with this plan before that since they were nine is seriously dumb.
All the fake relationships really irked me. I understood that they had to pretend to be together for appearances but they were all hooking up alone when there was no eyes. How was making out in an empty classroom for appearances? Or Amelia coming over to Seths and Chaz house.
I loved Josh’s character in the first book but I needed up seriously annoyed with him during this book. Chaz basically begged Josh to not include Theo in her revenge plans because she didn’t want to hurt Josh and he was Adamant that Theo had to be included. I also understand that Chaz came up with the plan to make Theo jealous but Josh was 1000% on board. He wanted Theo to be jealous and push to be with him in public. Chaz also tried to make josh give up the revenge plan and break up with Henderson after like one day and he refused. Then when Josh got essentially exactly what he wanted which was Theo to accept him in a public matter he acted like everything a Chaz fault and she was a horrible person which was just ridiculous.
The whole revenge plot with Simone was genuinely all Joshes idea so her getting any hate for that from Josh or Simone was incredibly dumb. Not to mention her whole plan was for him to sit at there lunch table which would cause gossip because they weren’t cool which was so tame. It’s ridiculous that anyone was even slightly mad about that. When she saw Simone actually like cooper before she even admitted it to herself she told her that they should drop it and her happiness was what really mattered.
As for Masons punishment he literally asked her to be his mistress with no end date in mind and zero explanation so honestly he deserved the worst for sure.
Both mason and Seth constantly said they deserved what she did if not worse yet they were still pretty mad at her which made no sense.
What irked me the most about this whole book was it could have been so easily explained in the book it’s never mentioned that the parents told them not to tell anyone about the arrangement. Not to mention who did they think Chaz would tell. They constantly said things aren’t what they seemed to be and expected her to just be like yea you guys are right have a great life. All though the guys weren’t directly responsible her nudes got leaked after she was DRUGGED. Then they almost got her expelled and the teacher ARRESTED.

Chaz and Seth and Mason… Well what can I say, this book continues with the plot of bulling and revenge in high school. There are some great ideas here and they all made me nervous for the characters. Who can you trust anyway? Chaz deserves to feel better about how she was treated but does she do the right thing? That answer is up to you. Thank you Wendi for another great book and I am looking forward to book 3. I really enjoyed the narration as well. Sisters Spotlight 💕
I was excited to read a revenge plot but Chaz was honestly just dumb. She ignored all the signs that they weren’t involved and couldn’t even be bothered to try and get answers. I also don’t understand why Seth couldn’t tell her more seeing as his father wasn’t associated with the Bellamy’s. And why he would have to stay with Amelia anyway?
Also, I cannot stand the use of “traitorous body.” It’s so overused and I honestly cannot recall a time when my body has ever just acted on its own?
The overall reveal was just.. underwhelming but expected. I guessed to as much, but you just have to really suspend disbelief to think about parents acting like that?
Chaz was just a bit disappointing overall. Yes, she was loyal, but she doesn’t listen to anyone.
The Second Move by Wendi L. Wilson is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kasi Hollowell. This is the second book in the Rogues of Everly Prep series.
I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't help but binge the book in one sitting. I am loving the friendship that bloomed between Chaz, Joshua and Simone. I am really enjoying the relationship that is blooming between Chaz and Mason. It's messy but you can't but root for them.
I can't wait for the next book in the series The Third Strike to be released on audio so I can get more of their story.
Kasi did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, bullying romances, high school romances or contemporary romances.
I read the first two books in the Rogues of Everly Prep series in about 4 hours. Could not put them down! I was annoyed at Chaz in the first book for being so naive and falling prey to the Rogue charm so easily. In book 2, The Second Move, I was seriously annoyed that she was being so dang stubborn and couldn’t see that the Rogues weren’t all that bad... LOL... My emotions were all over the place. I honestly have no idea how I am going to wait for book 3!
Wendi always leaves me yelling at her books!!! Chaz was done so so wrong in book 1, and this was her chance to settle the score!! There is so much to revenge and the price you will pay for it! I loved how characters and relationships grew! All of the twits kept me on my toes and wanting more! I am so excited for book three to release on audio! Kasi did an excellent job narrating, as always! She captured both the male and female characters so well and kept me entertained! 🦩PinkFlamingoProductions 🎧AudiobookObsessions 🦩TheFlock
The Second Move Rogues of Everly Prep Book Two by Wendi Wilson Narrated by Kasi Hollowell
Holy moly! This book is action packed and so good! If you haven’t listened to the first book in the series, get on that now so you are ready for this one! It picks up right where we left off. The four Rogues have deceived the new girl, Chaz. But she is not going to take it by laying down! Chaz is out to seek revenge. And she learns some serious life lessons in her journey. This is more than just a social media blitz. It’s real lives, people her friends care about and secrets she is not aware of. Wendi L Wilson weaves a web of deceit and betrayal that goes much deeper than expected. I loved this chapter of Chaz and the way she learns and grows. I also loved the quick reference to one of my favorite series by Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne! Fun listen and it just leaves you wanting the next in the series.
Narrated by Kasi Hollowell, I loved it! She is the perfect Chaz, and truly understands the ins and ous of being this character. Chaz drives on emotion and Hollowell is a master at bringing it all out. She keeps her real and believable. Her voices are all easy to distinguish and exciting to hear. It’s another great interpretation and fun listen.
Title: The Second Move Author: Wendi L. Wilson Format: Audio Narrator: Kasi Hollowell Genre: YA/NA, Revenge, Bully, Second Chance Romance Standalone: No Part of a Series: Book 2 (of three) in the Rogues of Everly Prep series POV: Chaz Steam Level: Minimal 5/5
The Second Move is the second book in the Rogues of Everly Prep. Starting just after book 1 ends, The Second Move is Chaz's revenge for what happened in book one. However everything is not how it seems. And oh boy did I not see what was coming when it was revealed. I cannot wait to see what happens in the final installment of this series. Like the first book I binged this in a day. I enjoyed the cameo of another couple from a different series by a different author. It was just a hello but I enjoyed it.
I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsessions and Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I did pretty much enjoy MOSTLY reading this second book but it didn’t seem executed correctly to me. It may just be me, but Seth goes from “backing my sister up” to betraying and then NONE of them told her why?? That was stupid and poorly written and then it just went downhill. They betrayed Chaz and SHE was the one to apologize to everyone and THEN they told the truth? Nope. Wish it would’ve been better but unfortunately not for me.
The Second Move Rogues of Everly Prep, Book Two By: Wendi Wilson Narrated by: Kasi Hollowell
Wendi Wilson continues to wow me with her second “Rogues of Everly Prep” book and after the way the first book ended I knew this book was going to be another wild ride. The Rogues and the Rogettes were relentless to Chaz in the first book and it is her time now, she is out for revenge and she plans on making it sweet. She is going to bring each one of them down a peg or two. Her bestie Josh helps and Simone who has her own reasons, joins in too. Everything easily falls in place, maybe too easy, she second guesses her actions but then remembers what they did to her and all the hurt, especially Mason. But is revenge as sweet as she thinks, what does it cost her or cost the others. There is never a dull moment in this book, once I started it I could not put it down because I needed to know what happened next. It is a well-written and cleverly plotted story that contains plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance. Wendi Wilson, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to the next book in the series, “The Third Strike”. I loved the visit to Cypress Point and the cameo appearance by West Golden and Blue Riley from Rachel Jonas and Nikki Thorne’s “The Golden Boys”.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Kasi Hollowell continues to do an amazing job bringing these characters and their story to life. She is great covering the voices for both the male and female roles, giving each their own distinct sound making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She has a complete understanding of the characters she portrays, sounds believable in every role she plays and just as I picture the character to sound. Her take on Chaz is spot on, grasps her determination and strength as well as her vulnerabilities. She sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them into her performance. Kai Hollowell is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

Revenge is the next step here, Chaz is planning everything against the Rogues. I enjoyed this one way more than the first one, it has very interesting rollercoasters, the story kept getting better and better. I am loving Chaz and her way of thinking. Things are finally to get together in a good way. The narration by Kasi Hollowell was good, I think you will enjoy this story more on audio. Can't wait for the next one.
Chaz thought the Rogues were her friends, she thought they were good and real and they betrayed her in the worst way, now she is determined to go back to school with her head held high and start her revenge plot. What she doesn't expect is all the pain it causes her and Josh. That is a hard pill to swallow for her.
I usually love a good revenge but this one felt off from the beginning, the fact that they allowed it, the fact that things weren't playing out as she expected, and the fact that they seemed resigned to just accept it and not react.. Chaz got her revenge... but at what cost?
I am still totally team Mason, and I love Seth and Theo so much too and Cooper is becoming more known, he was kind of overshadowed in the first book so I was glad to see more of him..
I loathe the Roguettes and their mean girl ways and can't wait to see them truly get what's coming for them. But the real kicker.. the truth that is revealed.. talk about a punch to the gut. I can't wait to see where they take things from here and how they plan to change everything.
This was SO good!! The Second Move is cleverly written and an excellent addition to the Rogues of Everly Prep. The story picks up where "First Time" ended, Chaz's ultimate revenge plan against the Rogues, Seth, Theo, Cooper, and Mason. Things didn't go how I had expected; Wilson added a few stunning twists, making it unpredictable and even more intriguing. The storyline is well-plotted and engaging, with plenty of drama, tension, angst, and intensity. I was completely tuned in and had no idea how quickly the six hours passed; I loved it. Chaz is great, determined, strong and yet vulnerable. She faces some revelations and learns a few important life lessons, notably about the cost of revenge. Her character is definitely growing and blossoming, and I can't wait to see her come to her own in the next book.
Kasi Hollowell's narration is on point. She is a talented voice artist, capturing and depicting the nuances of the characters personalities and emotions, especially Chaz's. I could easily connect with and tell the characters apart. Overall, The Second Move is a fantastic bully-romance; it's captivating with an appealing main character and quality narration. I'm definitely recommending this audiobook to fans of the genre.
Thé Second Move by Wendi L. Wilson, Book 2 of The Rogues of Everly Prep Narration by Kasi Hollowell
This book starts at the start of the next school semester and Chaz is ready for getting her revenge this year. Joshua is there to help her with her actions in taking down all who knocked her down previously.
Especially Mason who really put her through the most lying to her and taking advantage of her last semester. Or is there more happening here? It’s a continuation from book 1 with more questions but some answers too. Excited for the next instalment of the series.
Kasi really pulls out all of the emotions especially with Chaz, does she get her revenge or does this change with finding out more about what is really happening.
Excited for more of this series. Kasi is brilliant with all of the young, emotionally charged characters from this series and I can’t wait for the finale. There is some seriously messed up things happening in this small, affluent town and I can’t wait to see where Wendi takes us next!
Initially I had no idea what this series was about and I’m glad I gave it a go because it was great.
This book was great to listen to. It had everything. Drama, action and so much more. I would have liked the tension to have been built more but it was still great. I’ve enjoyed the ride for this book. I read book 1 via ebook and it was a whole new experience doing book 2 via audio. I felt slightly disconnected from these characters in the beginning of the book but then I got into their story the more I listened. So much more life was given to the story and the narrators did a great job. Initially I couldn’t get past the narrators voice, something about it just really rubbed me wrong but the more I listened the easier it became to get through.
The story is great and I love me a good bully academy romance. This was interesting. Not as twisted as I’m used to reading which was great made for a breath of fresh air but I would have liked the angst to have built slightly more and for there to be more tension between the characters. Otherwise I’m looking forward to seeing what book 3 has in store.
I got this audiobook via a promo code from The Flock and this is my voluntary review.
The Second Move by Wendi L. Wilson is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kasi Hollowell. This is the second book in the Rogues of Everly Prep series.
Continuing from where The First Time left off. Chaz is seeking retribution from those she believes are to blame for the events that occurred in the first book of the series, despite the fact that someone she believes she can trust warns her that not everything is as it seems. Chaz is hurt and betrayed as a result of what happened, and she feels betrayed and betrayed.
With the aid of her best friend Josh and her new friend Simone, Chaz devises the ideal strategy against each of the Rogues and the Roguettes, but others will also suffer as a result of her actions, and she will have to take responsibility for them.
As secrets are uncovered and the shocks keep coming, it was fun to watch the camaraderie between Mason, Seth, Theo, and Cooper as well as the friendship between Chaz and Josh and Simone. It was a good performance I honestly have no idea how I am going to wait for book 3!
This was a great second installment for this series. Chaz was bound and determined to get her revenge and wasn’t going to let anything stand in her way. I honestly liked the way it all unfolded. There were nerve wrecking moments were even I was afraid things weren’t what they seemed. There were sad moments that had me feeling for Chaz as she questioned everything. And there was a very cool cameo from characters I loved in another series. Once everything was wrapped up, I was very happy with where the characters were, satisfied with the progression of the storyline, and excited for the next book to see how the unfinished overall arc would be resolved. Kasi Hollowell once again did a fantastic job with her performance on this story. She did well with so many characters to narrate but was truly excellent with Chaz and I hope to keep seeing her name as a narrator on more romance to come. 🎧The Flock🎧
This is the second book in the Rogues of Everly Prep trilogy, a dark high school bully romance. I like the cover. Chaz and the Rogues's story continues where the first book left off. Chaz is a badass, strong, smart, and determined! The Rogues, Mason, Seth, Theo and Cooper are rich, enigmatic, and intriguing. Josh and Simone, Chaz's best friends, are amazing supporting characters. The storyline is complex and grippingly fascinating, filled with angst, revenge, intrigue, secrets, and twists and turns. The world building is enthralling. As expected, the story ends with a cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to listening to The Third Strike, the last book in the trilogy. Kasi Hollowell did an excellent job with the narration. #TheFlock #ALC #ComingSoon
The Second Move is book two in the Rogues of Everly Prep series and should definitely be read after the first book. I enjoyed book one and really enjoyed Chaz's character. Book two is chock full of drama and manipulation and in terms of revenge plots it is on point. I did struggle with this book if I am being honest because I found it really difficult to connect with Chaz's character as she sought revenge and was fairly hardcore about it. I definitely get standing up for yourself, but I wasn't a fan of who she was in this book unfortunately, but I am hoping the next book takes maybe a different turn given the information that came to light at the end of this book. I do think the book was well written and the narration was truly fantastic.
I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions Review Team. The first book kept me on the edge and the second one was the same. I can't wait for the third one. Don't mess with Chaz. She will only take so much before she retaliates. She is just getting even. This book is full of angst and suspense. Couldn't stop listening. I had to go back to the first one to pick up this story. Best read in succession. The author did an excellent job with this story of cute guys and bully girls. I just wanted to slap the girls. Couldn't wait for Chaz to get her revenge. Then, what a surprise. Looking forward to book 3. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story.
Wow! I loved Chaz in book 1. This book… not so much. I hate what they turned her into and I hate how she managed to drag her friends into her drama which I thought was incredibly selfish. That said, this story took an unexpected turn and I can’t say more without giving away spoilers. This story was highly entertaining, and emotion provoking. One minute I’m cringing then I’m angry then I’m fist pumping a “Hell Yes” Clearly I’m undecided on how exactly this book makes me feel other than wanting more. Once again the performance by Kasi Hollowell was outstanding. This is book 2 in a trilogy and continues on to book 3. I can’t wait! 😀 I highly recommend this book/series.
For me the series didn’t improve from the first. I don’t think I’m going to carry on and read the third book.
I struggled with this bully theme, don’t get me wrong I love a bully book, but this one I found it hard to be with the FMC as she got her revenge one the Rougues. Chaz went way too over board on the plan which I didn’t feel like it was justified. It was frustrating knowing there was a reason the rogues were going along with the plan and why they did that to her in book one but for some reason Chaz didn’t pick up on it which annoyed me. I started to dislike her more and more as the book progressed.
5 stars for The Second Move by Wendi L. Wilson. This is book two in the Roques of Everly Prep series. Wendi has got herself a new fan that is forsure. I love that Chaz is set on getting revenge. It makes me smile that she is fighting back. I was sitting in my room yelling for her. She is a true bada** and I love it. While some might not agree and think she should have got the facts before she cut them so deep, but I have to disagree. I think they should have talked to her, but they didn’t. Honestly, this book had my emotions all over the place. I do have to say I love me some Mason , even if I wanted to smack him often. I can not wait to see what Wendi has in store for me in book three.
