An innkeeper who reads minds. An ornery detective. And a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premiere destination for murder. My name is Bizzy Baker, and I can read minds-not every mind, not every time but most of the time and believe me when I say it's not all it's cracked up to be. Valentine's Day is coming right up and the Country Cottage Inn is playing host to a bevy of romantic shenanigans. The very first love-inspired event on the agenda is a night for singles to mingle. But that mass blind date with cupid goes horribly awry when one of the hosts ends up dead as a heart-shaped doornail. It certainly doesn't make things better when I'm found holding the murder weapon-because as any good homicide detective knows, that puts me right at the top of the suspect list. The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder. Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, has the ability to pry into the darkest recesses of both the human and animal mind, and has just stumbled upon a body. With the help of her kitten, Fish, a mutt named Sherlock Bones and an ornery yet dangerously good looking homicide detective, Bizzy is determined to find the killer. A laugh out loud cozy mystery by New York Times Bestseller Addison Moore and her partner in cozy crime, USA TODAY Bestseller Bellamy Bloom. Cider Cove, Maine is the premiere destination for fun and relaxation. But when a body turns up, it's the premiere destination for murder.

It's Valentine's Day at the Country Cottage Inn, and innkeeper Elizabeth "Bizzy" Baker is busy hosting a party for a new dating app, when the app's co-developer is murdered. Bizzy can't help but investigate, much to the chagrin of her detective boyfriend Jasper. She's also got family issues, best friends in crisis, and pets needing love and attention. All this, and she has to find time to tell Jasper her big secret -- that she can read minds.
The mystery of the app developer's death is interesting, though not particularly unique and compelling. There is a twist, which elevates the story some. Like most cozy mystery series, the real reason to read this one is for the character development -- namely a big step forward in Bizzy and Jasper's relationship as she tells him her secret (as well as the crazy goings on with her ex-step-mother Juni and her ex-step-grandmother Georgie). I hope that this book will finally put a pin in the story line about Jasper's man-eating ex, but otherwise, it's a fun book to read.
This is the fifth book in this wonderful series and the book I have been waiting for. I won’t spoil it for you by explaining WHY I was waiting for it! But this is a fabulous book. The characters are amazing and the paranormal aspect kept me reading for more. I love the animals and their love for their owners. I highly recommend this book!
This is the fifth book in the Country Cottage Mysteries by Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom.
Was this an entertaining and mad cap adventure? Yes. In some ways this was a good read. Decent. The characters are likable and fun to follow. The over-the-top-ness of it all does have its appeal for some. But in my cozy mysteries, I want to follow along with the search for the killer. And this does happen to a point. I want to be a part of the fun and in on the search. Bizzy’s mind reading super power kinda puts the kibosh on the whole cozy whodunit concept, in my opinion.
The characters in this book do a few things I would never recommend. First, the main character, Bizzy, who is familiar with dead bodies since she has solved a few murders in her day, actually picked up the murder weapon and put her fingerprints all over it. Rookie move, if you ask me. If she had been psychic, maybe she would have “known” to steer clear of a wayward gun lying on the ground. Or just using her common sense gene would have been nice enough.
The second thing I find a little odd is the fact that Bizzy can always read someone’s mind; be them animal or human. I would find this a little more believable if her mind reading had a bit of static in the connection or sometimes she hears the wrong thing instead of what the person really means. Even really good psychics are never 100 percent accurate and I would think Bizzy’s ability would fall into that realm as well. I couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough when she quickly ascertained what was going on almost from the beginning. It kinda makes a book like this one you want to set aside since the main premise of a cozy is to solve the mystery along with the protagonist. To me, the mind reading bit is like cheating.
Overall an okay read. Decent. Fun to follow if you just want to meet with the characters and see what they are up to. If you really want a solid mystery to follow, you might want to look elsewhere.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) from the author via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.
This cozy series is always a delight. If you haven’t started it yet, it is time to greet the 2 rascals you view on the cover. Fish is a black and white long-haired tabby rescued by Bizzy Baker. Sherlock Bones lives with the love of Bizzy’s life, Jasper Wilder, the local detective.
Bizzy is a telesensual. Her ability to read human minds helps her excel as a sleuth. However, when she reads the thoughts of Fish and Sherlock, it brings cuteness to all-time highs.
It is almost Valentine’s Day, and love is in the air at a singles mixer in full swing at the Country Cottage Inn in Cider Cove, Maine, where Bizzy is the on-site manager. Not everyone is in love, as one of the event hosts found out but won’t be around to say, with Bizzy being the first to share the news as she discovered his body.
The cozy is irresistible as the characters are fun, and there’s never a shortage of furry paws on the scene. You won’t want to miss the fun, so add it to your tbr list now. Each cozy in the series can be read as a stand-alone, but you won’t want to miss any of them.
Readers will delight in discovering the "Raspberry Cheesecake Bites" recipe shared at the end of the cozy, as it was a mouth-watering success for everyone in Cider Cove.
Murder Bites is the fifth book in the series. Bizzy finally tells Jasper her secret and he doesn't take it well to begin with. This is another book about murder. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
I’m starting to struggle to find the words for this series because Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom are just that talented….. They have had me hooked from the minute I started this series and whilst it has some elements from Addison’s Murder In The Mix Series, I know for a fact that it’s a whole lot different. The quirkiness is there, the drama is there, things are heating up and honestly some of the events that take place honestly shock me. I know that I’m in for a long ride with this series and if both Addison and Bellamy keep on writing books that just lure you in, then honestly I’ll be doomed for a long while (but trust me when I say it’ll be worth it). I honestly can’t fault the writing, the plot or anything in this story, don’t get me wrong I still want to slap Camila or possibly kill her off but at the same time it wouldn’t be as awesome without the drama coming from her. I’m anxious to see how things play out now that Jasper is clearly serious about where things are going in terms of his and Bizzy’s relationship, but I’m just waiting for the day that Camila finally gets it through to her head and actually leaves well alone. I’m intrigued to see what happens in the next book as I have a feeling things are about to get a lot more interesting…. From what I can tell I have a feeling that we’ll be getting to see a familiar character from Addison’s books….. If you want to find out who, then I suggest that you give this book a read and all will be revealed.
Valentine’s day is upon Cider Cove and everyone is getting ready for the cupid’s bash that one of Georgie’s pieces on the side is hosting at the Inn and everyone is having an amazing time…. Bizzy is loving life and she couldn’t be happier that things are working out for her, her friends and family and the Inn itself. However, Bizzy has a secret looming over her head and whilst she knows she needs to come clean to Jasper about the fact she can read minds, she’s scared just in case she loses him in the process of revealing all to him. So with that on her mind, she’s doing her best to hold everything together and also keep Camila away from him. Yet, as fate would have it, during the bash that’s happening it becomes aparant that that night is going to be someone’s last and with Bizzy finding the weapon on the ground, it implicates her… Will she be able to prove her innocence and will she lose Jasper in the process of revealing her secret?
Book Description: “Valentine’s Day is coming right up and the Country Cottage Inn is playing host to a bevy of romantic shenanigans. The very first love-inspired event on the agenda is a night for singles to mingle. But that mass blind date with Cupid goes horribly awry when one of the hosts ends up dead as a heart-shaped doornail. It certainly doesn’t make things better when I’m found holding the murder weapon, because as any good homicide detective knows, that puts me right at the top of the suspect list.”
When a slogan for an internet matchmaking service is “romance on demand”, what can you really expect? I doubt Bizzy expected to find another dead body at her inn. I am sure cradling the gun in her hand next to the deceased when the detective came on the scene was the very last thing she expected. I don’t know who to feel sorrier for… Jasper for having to investigate the murder with his girlfriend as the presumed suspect or Bizzy for interfering in her boyfriend’s investigation to try and prove her innocence. The authors have such awesome imaginations to dream up all these crazy situations and delightfully entertaining cast of characters. Pretty soon, I am going to have to create a flow chart to keep all the people’s connections straight in my mind. Ha-ha. Bizzy has some weird and zany familiar connections. That is an absolute truth. The authors introduce us to a new animal character in each story. They are always so adorable and just stir up all kinds of warm fuzzies in me. This story introduces Cinnamon, a coffee-colored curly-haired labradoodle pup, the runt out of the litter.
I do not like reviews which include spoilers, so, you won’t find any here. What I will say is that this story was an entertaining, clean, fun, and easy read. It is weird, but in an extremely entertaining way. If you enjoy reading a story interlaced with solving a murder, romance in every corner with a lot of drama and angst peppered throughout, then I highly recommend this book to you.
Recipe included: Country Cottage Café Raspberry Cheesecake Bites
This was another great cozy mystery in this series. I have found myself already hooked on this series, being that it’s very intriguing, engaging, and interesting. It’s just a fun and good time reading.
With this one it was interesting to go back in the series and read this Valentine mystery. The big thing was in this one that Bizzy had yet told Jasper about her ability to read minds. Plus they weren’t married yet. Throughout the story, Bizzy was agonizing over telling Jasper her secret and feared what he would do. But never fear Jasper came through and even went down on one knee to prove it. I loved it so, so much. I’m so into their romance, which is sweet and lovely. It will be interesting to go back and see how they started from the beginning.
I liked the mystery in this one. Even though both stories I have read in this series thus far were set at Valentine’s season, they still both felt different from the other so it was easy to distinguish between the two. I appreciated that. In this one, the victim was the creator of a daring app and was set to have a single’s event at Bizzy’s place of business. There were a plethora of suspects due to how many women he was involved with. They each had solid motives and lots of twists and turns along the way, causing it difficult to figure out who the murder was. I liked that because it kept me on my toes. It just made for a really good mystery.

Fun read with all that a Cozy Mystery should be. Congenial protagonists, loving and endearing love interest to our heroine, some whacky characters, and some four legged confidants.
I like the pace of the book, all the red herrings, a bit of humor, and easy reading style. Story is not bogged down with too many unnecessary esthetic details or background on characters. Just enough description of places and things to set the picture and just enough back story on characters to keep you interested and to help the reader understand the dynamics of the that's relationship. I'm not a fan of writers who add too much details to things or people when it isn't pertinent to the story or to help move the story along. Luckily this author doesn't waste the readers time with such things.
The story was entertaining enough and not too complicated. The telepathic element of our protagonist's trait was a nice touch. What I also found pleasing is that this book is a 5th in a series but can certainly be read as a standalone. The bonus of course is the recipe at the end the book for the mini-cheesecake bites that were mentioned in the story.
Murder bites is the fifth book in the Country Cottage mystery series. Even that this is part of a series it can be read as a standalone without many issues, but it is better when read in order to get the most out of it. This series is about Bizzy, a fun quirky Inn manager that loves her quaint little home town Cider Cove. When is not your normal run of the mill manager when Bizzy was younger and almost drown she gained the ability to read minds. This has been a blessing and a curse. The country cottage is the venue for several valentine related events including a Dependable sponsored event. Things seem to going well other than a few tense people but nothing to bad, until Bizzy wonders outside and stumbles across a gun then she notices one of the co-host of the event is dead. Not only does Bizzy want to solve the murder since she found the body, but this time she want to solve it because she looks to be a suspect. Will she be able to solve the murder and find the real killer or will her luck have run out and find herself on the wrong end of the law this time?
This was a good read, yes it did seem to go off tangent at times and be a bit of a madcap adventure on others but altogether a highly entertaining one. The plot is as old as time - love and money. Ending up in the death of a young man. But was he as innocent as he seemed. A string of lovers, engaged to a woman twice is age, a serum gambler and a notorious liar. The more she finds out the more she thinks she has the murderer pegged. But is she right? Then there's her own sweetheart. What will he do when she divulged the Big Secret? For a crazier cast of characters you would have to search quite a bit but the ones that steal the show for me are the animals. Their quirky thoughts lead to some light and sensible moments among the more outlandish behaviour of their two legged friends.
Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn in Cider Cove, Maine. Valentine's Day is almost here and the inn is the location of a Singles Valentine's Day Mixer. Unfortunately a murder occurs at the event and Bizzy is found holding the murder weapon by her detective boyfriend, Jasper. Bizzy can hear the thoughts of animals and people. She's able to talk to them too. This is something that Bizzy has not told Jasper yet. Bizzy gets herself involved in trying to solve the murder. Can she do so with the help of her cat Fish and Jasper's dog Sherlock Bones? Will her secret ability finally be found out by Jasper? If you love cozy mysteries, you'll love this series.

I need Cinnamon in my life! She’s the cutest. I also love Sherlock Bones and Fish just as much! But enough about them.
I love this series! It’s a cute little escape to another place and I just love how the characters come alive. It’s almost like I know them personally.
Bizzy Baker finds herself the suspect in this murder case when she stumbles upon a gun and picks it up so that it doesn’t fall into someone else’s hands. Only she learns that it was used to commit a murder. She’s determined more than ever to solve this case and clear her name. Oh and she has a secret to share with her man. How does he take it? You’ll have to read to find out!

Being we are on book five it still pulls me right in like the first one! Addison and Bellamy bring us another mystery of who done it with our favorite Telesensual inn keeper Bizzy Baker. With love in the air, secrets, deceit, and murder how could you not be pulled in and need to know more. When Cupid’s arrows are suppose to strike at the Cupid’s dance Murder strikes instead. In the wake leaving Bizzy on a mission to catch a killer, despite homicide detective Jaspers objections. Of course we can’t forget the furry companions that are always a delight. Although this can be read as a stand-alone I highly suggest going to book one to grasp the characters history. I’m so excited for the next adventure!
This was another awesome book in this series. I really enjoyed seeing what Bizzy got herself into this time. So much fun when she is talking to the animals and someone walks up to her so she has to pretend she was talking to herself or whatnot. So not easy to have a convo with an animal and not be noticed.
It seems that Bizzy can find trouble (or a dead body) and help solve the case in her own way. She really does enjoy solving the cases.
This one was no different.
Please get the book I know you will love it. These are meant as stand-alone books, but you would really do well to get them all and read them one after the other in the series.

Valentine’s Day celebrations at the Inn go off with a bang as Bizzy stumbles over a murder, and accidentally implicates herself by picking up the murder weapon! To top it all off, Bizzy is psyching herself up to reveal her abilities to Jasper, and there is enough drama in town to keep the gossips all busy.
Another fun and furry addition to this cute paranormal cosy mystery series. We see some fun and romance in this one, as well as some sisterly and adoptive-grandmotherly shenanigans of the laugh-out-loud kind. It’s a fun and fast read for cosy mystery buffs, with a little paranormal quirk thrown in to make it extra interesting.
Too bad she can't ditch the mother in law. While hosting a singles mingle at the Inn, Bizzy stumbles on another body. One of the hosts gets killed and Bizzy is now determined to find the murderer. With the help of her dysfunctional extended family, her sweet pets, and her gorgeous detective boyfriend, it will take a bit of stalking on her part to find the clues needed to whittle down the suspect list.
Still a bit of drama with the exes, and the shenanigans of her friends, and even a moment of truth with Jasper, but my favorite book to date.
Murder Bites is a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish!! Bizzy is back, and she has yet another murder on her hands. When she stumbles upon a murder weapon that leads to a dead body, things get a little tricky. Secrets and surprises flood this book with emotions. By the ending I was in tears. I cannot wait to find out what's in store in Felines and Fatalities!!!
Addison Moore will leave you hooked and desperate for the next book!!
Bizzy Baker and her boyfriend Jasper on trying to solve a murder again in Cider Cove, Maine. This time, there is a Valentine's Day murder at the Singles Valentine's Day Mixer, and Jasper finds Bizzy with the murder weapon in hand! Bizzy can hear the thoughts of people and animals, and she's trying to solve the case with her animal friends, her cat Fish and Jasper's dog Sherlock Bones.
This is a series of fun, quick, cozy mysteries that make you laugh and smile. Good for binging.
In this installment of the series, there are plenty of chances to laugh, to gasp, to hide our eyes temporarily. My two questions are, if it is cold enough to snow, can you smell midnight jasmine in Maine? And if it is cold enough to snow in Maine, will the trees be budding? Finally, my favorite line is PROBABLY the result of a careless editor, but it makes sense in an odd sort of way: “he is free to PERUSE whomever he wishes!” Giggles abound
Bizzy Baker is in deep this time! With a murder to solve and a secret to share, it will take help from her handsome detective, Fish, Sherlock, and a cute new pooch to find this murderer. Her BIG secret could send Jasper running! With love (and murder)in the air and on the minds, will Bizzy find her happy ending?
Bloom and Moore have done it again. This mother/daughter duo continue to write phenomenal stories that keep me interested from beginning to end. In this book we revisit the residents of Cider Cove and the entertaining Bizzy Baker. I really do love this series. Each book brings with it something new and I just can't get enough. Well done to the authors. Can't wait to see what's next.
Bizzy Baker has done it again. In this installment of the Cozy Cottage Mysteries, Bizzy vows to tell the hot sheriff her big, bad secret. The suspense was killing me throughout the entire book. You’ll have to read to find out if Bizzy does indeed spoil the beans. Another fantastic addition to the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Bizzy has such a way with people and she's like a dog with a bone. Once she grabs on to something, she grabs on to it and shakes it until she finds out what she wants to know. Leaving Jasper up in arms worried about her. This is a great series. Oh, and it comes with recipes! Great job. Thank you.
This is a fascinating series! All the characters are very interesting. Especially the animal characters. I think Fish is a wonderful feline companion and Sherlock Bones is, to me, a great sidekick type character. I loved the story line in this mystery. I'm looking forward to seeing Lottie Lemon with her ability in the next story line.
Valentine's Day is upon us so Bizzy Baker has opened the inn up to for a singles mixer. Everyone comes for a chance at finding love. All Bizzy finds is a body! I loved this book. If you are up for a good murder mystery/romance this is the book for you!
Bizzy Baker is at it again. Trying to solve another murder. This time she really needs to because her detective boyfriend Jasper found her with the murder weapon in hand. Will her ability to hear everyones thoughts, even animals, help her solve this case? Or just scare Jasper away..
Good story! Very enjoyable. Characters likeable warm loyal and quirky. Plot flowed well and had plenty of surprises. Finally, Bizzy told Jasper her secret. I will definitely read more of the books now. Satisfying conclusion.
I really liked this book. Bizzy and Jasper are finally heading in the right direction (though am I the only one waiting for them to jump in bed???), the murder mystery was interesting enough and the storyline line moved at a good pace.
A combination of friendship, love and a very mysterious homicide. Not to mention two unexpected mind readers. The high spirited actvities of some family members add to mars gun and exciting read!
