"for those who love magical beings living among humans and the things that could go wrong. Boy, can I assure you things go wrong."
Discover fearless women, clever as cats, partnered with men who fall first even if they do have a hidden agenda. Byrd writes riveting characters who are relatable but realistically complex.
Her book series showcase alternate histories with intrigue, fantasy, and the supernatural, while Byrd’s standalone novels are thought-provoking explorations of family dysfunction using contemporary settings and magical realism.
A Study in Spirits: A College Fae Magic Series #2 by Byrd Nash is the follow on from Never Date a Siren. It is a wonderful Young Adult story full of paranormal beings, college life, humour, drama, debts, bonds, challenges, lessons, magic, danger, adventure, and more. We meet back up with Brigit, Logan, and their friends as this next adventure unfolds. A new school year has started at Leopold Otto University and Brigit finds herself accused of cheating and will need to clear her name or face expulsion. Then there’s the matter of being indebted to the Doppelganger (from book #1 ‘Never Date A Siren’) after his help with the siren problem from the last year. More problems arise when a spate of vandalism in the library sets off a hunt to uncover the ‘monster’ behind the destruction. Never a dull moment for these characters. This is a fantastic second instalment and as I am now completely invested in the characters, I really can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next book! Such a fun read!!!
We are back to the college with Logan, Ceilica and Brigit. Em is new to the college and sharing with others. Brigit has been accused of stealing a test and has to clear her name. She needs to prove het innocent to stay in school. Can her new found friend and roommate as and another help to see who is making her life a nightmare. What will become of this nightmare. Bryd Nash yet again has sucked me into this world wanting more.
A Study in Spirits is the second book in the Fae College series. Bridget, Jib and gang are back for their sophomore year and right off the bat nothing is going smooth nor as planned. We left off in book one with Bridget owing a Debt that must be paid back...and now it’s payback time. Bridget must find out who is destroying the books in the library and why are ghosts disintegrating into nothingness. These two things are definitely related somehow, some way. This story turned out to be a whole lot more than what I expected and certainly much more than Bridget.
All of the main characters are back for another romp at Leopold University along with newcomer, Emma, who has special talents of her own and her Japanese key earring which is really a Tsukumogami, or a flying squirrel named Obake. Needless to say; this motley crew are in for one harrowing experience. Oh! I met King Ladisllas again. What a piece of work! I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
The story moves and develops quickly. The ending took me completely by surprise. I now have a whole new and different kind of respect for librarians... I admit, I did not see this one coming. Trouble certainly does seem to have a way of finding Bridget, though, and I’m looking forward to her next two years. Maybe...just maybe, there will be a bit more between Bridget and Logan. Fingers crossed.
Let me just say, this one was worth the wait! From the very beginning jumping right back into Logan and Brigit, and the rest of their bondmates, along with some new additions, I was so happy to be back with them and this new case they had to solve. I was hooked. There were twists I wasn't expecting. References to very obscure history that I love, (Countess Bathory especially.) I loved the new character Emma, and her special earring. I wish I had an earring like that. There's action in this, and more character perspectives than in 'Never Date A Siren' but I loved it, especially how everything tied all together in a nice neat little action filled package at the end. As always, Byrd goes above and beyond in her detail's and intricate storytelling, without going overboard like some authors can to distract you from the main story. I recommend this book, and her others. You will not be disappointed.
I give A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash, 5 stars.
The first book in this series was so much fun and I anxiously awaited the next one. Well, it passed the grade and then some. The book was outstanding! Sticking with the same group of characters from book 1, there is also an addition of another character to their group who is just as interesting and I would love to see more of in the future. The characters are so great because they work together so well and all have kindness to others in their heart. Albeit different and not always on the same page, they work together to help those in need. This time, the focus is something evil in the library. The way they go about solving everything is so interesting and you just can't put the book down. The story is entertaining and fun, the characters are real but not too pretentious, and there is of course a talking cat, which just pushes it over the edge for me.
If you are a fan of college aged main characters in an urban fantasy setting, this book is for you.
I enjoyed this story. It’s the second in the series. In here we get to delve deeper into each of the characters we have met. While there is a problem on campus they have become involved in because of Celia’s new roomie.
There is much to love about these characters. The whole dryad (tree) Fae thing. How she can step into trees. Then in the library I loved the idea of how the books were crying having their knowledge ripped from them. Then the dryad struggled as well because....well books are paper and paper was trees...genius! Logan with his “seeing the truth” and the Japanese squirrel and the cat (Jib). All great! I don’t even know what to say about the doppelgänger. Just freaky!
I love the world this author has created. Anyone who reads paranormal fantasy should love this. It tickles the funny one and engages the grey matter.
A Study in Spirits (College Fae book #2) by Byrd Nash was a great continuation of the first book. Everything the first book had and then more! I love the Fae and especially how Byrd Nash manages to blend it with more updated references. I love Brigit and Logan and can't wait to see what troubles come next. Definitely a story I want to follow.
A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash
I loved this book just as much as I did the first book in this series. The same great characters return in this story and we get to meet some really great new ones. This story is full of action and mystery. The author does an amazing job at building a world full of fantasy and magic that I just don't want to put down. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series to see what's in store for us next. I highly recommend this book.
I fell in love with the writing style of Bryd Nash with the first book in this series, A College Fae Magic Series book one, Never Date a Siren. This book was everything I had hoped it would be and all I dreamed of while anticipating its release. A Study in Spirits is another fast paced and adventure laced read with a romantic nod and all the magic and fae to keep you entertained for hours.
In this one we get to follow along with Brigit, Logan and the newest student to Leopold Otto University, Emma. Brigit gets accused of stealing the test answers and destroying the books in the library. (blasphemy I know lol) We get to see if Logan and Emma will be able to figure out what monster is causing the mayhem and if they will be able to get things under control. You will feel as if you are surrounded by magic and fantasy the whole time you are reading. I can’t wait to see what the next book will bring us!
If you are into Supernatural stories, this series is for you. Byrd Nash has an amazing imagination to write this series. Her attention to detail is outstanding. I feel like I am standing right next to the characters and having the adventure with them. Brigit is in trouble and she may have to leave the university. She has to look into this mystery and along the way she recruits Logan and a new girl. You will keep flipping the pages to see what is coming around the next corner. This story kept my attention and had me wanting more. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what is going to be happening next.
****4 stars**** A Study in Spirits: College Fae Magic #2 by Byrd Nash
A Study in Spirits is the second book in the sci-fi fantasy series about college fae by Byrd Nash. I enjoy YA books and this was another nice easy and stress free story. With this book there was the addition of characters and a new year in college life for all of the group. The story follows things that are happening in the campus library with books disappearing as well as someone stealing test answers from a library computer. The group from book #1 work together, along with the addition of a new classmate, Emma, and her unique earring. The author again did a great job with telling a detailed and descriptive fantasy story that was easily visualized and not confusing like some stories that involve different worlds and creatures sometimes end up being.
There is a strange magical thing in the abbey library who is destroying all the books and information.
Brigit is accused of hacking into the system to get access to test papers and in the process destroyed some other things off the system.
So with her friends Logan, Celia, Granite and new girl Emma they have to figure out what this magical being is and clear Brigits name and save the books what she so loves from being destroyed.
A Study In Spirits by Byrd Nash was a great sequel! I immensely enjoyed reading this novel, more so than the first if I'm being completely honest. The story was just better and more mysterious to me than the first. The first was great too, but not like this one. I enjoyed meeting the new characters while also still seeing the ones from the first book. I highly recommend this novel and can't wait to read the next installment!
A Study in Spirits (College Fae Book #2) by Byrd Nash 4 Stars
This is the follow up story to Never Date a Siren. I love the premise of this series; humans and Fae studying together at Léopold Otto University. So many things can go wrong and they do. I love all the characters in this series. Each one is unique and special in their own way. In this book the author introduces a couple of new characters. Emma was really cool and I especially loved her earring. That Obake was really handy.
In this novel, Brigit is accused of stealing test results and she’s furious. She’s forced to clear her name and find the culprits all while a monster is prowling the library destroying books. Brigit and her bond mates decide to hunt it down. This leads to a thrilling fast paced adventure filled with danger. It pulled me in from the start and o had a hard time putting it down. You’ll be sucked into a colourful and imaginative world filled with surprises.
This is the second book in the series by this author and i have enjoyed both of them. The author has a good writing style and the fact that it is a young adult series for me is great it is a good palette cleanser. The story is fantasy, some magic and a whole lot of mystery. Brigit is accused of stealing and Vandalism and in order to stay at her university she must clear her name because she isnt the one who did those crimes. She hopefully will have some help from a few friends around campus so she can get to the bottom of who actually done the deeds! I was engaged in this story from page one i am looking forward to reading more by this author! Happy Reading!
A Study in Spirits takes me back to the college after the summer break. Logan, Ceilica and Brigit and Jib get into another adventure full of mystery, magic, ghosts and a creature lurking in the library.
Paul the Doppelgänger also returns in this story, and he is dealing with an altogether different problem...oops! It will be fun to read how this works out.
And there is Emma too! Being a human, she brings in helpful skills to fight the thing that's been hiding in the library.
I enjoyed this book very much! It is the second in the College Fae Magic series.
It is a new school year and things are about to get pretty crazy at Leopold Otto University. Brigit, Logan, Celia, and Granite are back as well as a newcomer, a human named Emma. Brigit no longer owes a debt to Logan but has become indebted to Paul, a Doppelganger, for his help with the Siren issue last year. This Fairy Debt may be worse than being indebted to a human. And, there is something terrorizing the library. No one seems to know what it is or why it is there, except that it is destroying the books.
I laughed out loud and might have screamed a time or two. What? There are some scary parts. The library monster is creepy! This group of bondmates has grown closer and resembles a kind of family now. I love this evolution in the overall story. The world that was created in book 1, Never Date a Siren, is a familiar place to go now. I have gotten to know and care about the characters. I am invested in the story and am excited to see where it goes next. Book 3 comes out later this year! I gave this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to any fan of YA fantasy.
I received an ebook copy ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A Study in Spirits (College Fae book #2) By Byrd Nash 5 out of 5 stars
The story A Study in Spirits A Study in Spirits (College Fae book #2) by Byrd Nash is a coming of age/fantasy book. It is a story that will pull you in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down. It is the second in a series and I loved the magical creatures and other characters that are introduced. The author did an amazing job in building a world where humans, fae, and others all live and in this book work together. I loved reading the characters of Brigit and Logan. Brigit finds that she must defend herself against accusations that could get her thrown out of the university. She now must discover who or what is destroying books in the campus library. Along with Logan, Emma, and others, she sets about finding the guilty party. Will they find out the truth about who is behind the destruction at the library? Read this book to find out. This story flows smoothly and I found myself feeling like I was right there with the characters. I found myself lost in the pages and when I read the last chapter wishing that it was a little longer. I would recommend reading this book.
A Study in Spirits by Byrd Nash is the second book in the College Fae magic series. This book is entertaining throughout and has some fantastic characters. Personally I do think this should be read in order as you are introduced to all the characters in the first book. I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed falling back into the lives of the characters I had got to know previously. The story was engaging and really well developed. The author creates a good pace and draws you in. This has so far been a very enjoyable series and I can definitely say I am looking forward to seeing what is next.
I was expecting "Hogwarts, the Post-Secondary Experience". What the author gave me was both more down-to-earth and more fantastical than that. I loved how the author integrates humans and fae together in a contemporary more-than-human but less-than-Faerie-Queen way which feels like my university days (with significantly more challenging "pickles". This author is definitely one I recommend to young adult urban fantasy readers - I am sure that those readers will relate as much to the trials and tribulations of Logan and Bridgit and their bondmates as I do.
I received a copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
A Study in Spirits is the second book in a four book young adult series. It is about Brigit and Logans sophomore year at a university where both human and fae attend! Bridgit has been accused of vandalism and together they must find the beast that is causing all the destruction and stop it. Some new characters are introduced that are quickly stealing my heart! Em and her flying squirrel Obake are the perfect addition and of course Jib, my favorite returns with this book. A Study in Spirits is packed full of excitement and hard to put down! The world the author creates is colorful and imaginative. The characters are unique which i love! Lots of action and some mystery, it does not disappoint. It is a lovely read all around. If you like Harry Potter, Warriors and fantasy i think you will especially enjoy this. I would highly recommend you read it and look forward to seeing what obstacle they must overcome in junior year!
A Study in Spirits is the second novel in the College Fae Magic series by Byrd Nash.
I was so excited for this novel and I couldn’t put it down.
Brigit has her hands full when she is accused of stealing answers to a test, she is also tasked with finding the culprit of who is prowling the library.
I loved this book and Emma. There are so many twists and turns and the way the story is written just pulls you in.
I don’t want to give too much away but I highly recommend this book and this series!
In true Byrd Nash style, this book, the second in the college fae series is full of adventure and fun in the Leopold Otto University.
Brigit has been accused of stealing test answers and of destroying books she loves in the abbey library. She must prove her innocence to stay in school. Can Logan and new student Emma, along with the library ghosts help her discover the monster that is wreaking havoc on her university and her life?
Rich in fantasy, colourful, unique characters and a beautifully built, creative world this novel will draw you in and keep you excited to turn each page. A really enjoyable read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this second book in the series and continuing to follow Brigit and Logan. Byrd Nash is a fascinating author to me and I am really enjoying this YA fantasy series. It is fun, fresh, detailed, and imaginative. It is a quick and easy read and was a very enjoyable afternoon escape. Will definitely recommend to others and looking forward to seeing how the story/series will continue.
I enjoyed this young adult story. This is an author I have enjoyed from the first book I picked up. She writes with creativity and her details make the story feel realistic. This book is no different, page turning fast reading. This story is about mystery, making new friends and magic. Brigit has been accused of stealing and vandalism. In order for her to stay at the University she must find the person who is behind it. Will she find who did it with the help of Logan and the new girl who seems to know the guilty? These are great characters that are supportive of each other. They are connectable and made the story engaging. I highly recommend reading this book to find out who is really behind the crimes.
Let me say starting off, that I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was engaging and I could picture everything in my head perfectly. The characters were so fun to read, especially Juba – my fav. A few scenes actually made me lol. When the author first introduces the “bad guy”, I felt so much stress and fear for the characters and I immediately needed to know what the heck this thing was!
If an author can make me care about characters that much then I’m a fan for life. Definitely give this one a go and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
A Study In Spirits Collage Fae Book 2. By Byrd Nash is a YA coming of age fantasy book. Accused of vandalism and stealing test answers, Brigit must find the guilty party to stay at Leopold Otto University. I really enjoyed reading this book, quite lighthearted and very easy to finish. I started on book 2, so will have to go back a read number 1 now. This is the second book by Byrd Nash I have read and I think I’ve added a new favourite author to my list. Her writing is just brilliant. Thanks for another great read.
The adventure continues in this second well-written and tightly-plotted installment of the College Fae series. Highly recommended for readers who like magic and fairy tales combined with contemporary YA/New Adult.
When a mysterious spirit haunts the university library, Brigit and Logan investigate and find their skills and courage are tested. Characters from the first book return like Paul the Doppelgänger and new ones are introduced, with my favorite being Anna, the librarian. Jib the púca is fun and clever as always.
As a beta reader, I found A Study in Spirits to be a real page-turner. I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter.
