A male hellbent on sticking out his mating heat alone. Too bad fate has other plans.
The safe house was supposed to protect her from the dangerous man she was testifying against, but it didn't. With no way of escape, Luna does the only thing she can: she runs. Straight into the creepy woods behind her home, one small misstep sends her careening into a pool of water and she can't find the surface.
Elar has taken every precaution he can to avoid the brutal and emotionless females who wanted to rut him only to steal his offspring away. Now his mating heat has arrived and he suddenly scents a female in his waters.
Electrified by the Eel is a paranormal erotica short with some dark elements, and very mature (18+) content. Warning- triggers for violence and drowning.

I wasn't expecting this short story to be so good! This definitely needs to be made into a full length novel. Super fun and spicy story! I will definitely be checking out the rest of this authors work!
I have a content warning, it’s a little spoiler-ish though so stop reading here if you aren’t concerned with content warnings and want to avoid any spoilage:
A sexual assault happens on screen in this story. The bad guy is raped repeatedly and left for dead. Didn’t keep me from loving this story though.
Really good book! Happy I found this author and I can’t wait to read more by her, will have to join the news letter and see if any of these become full novels!
3.5/5 The second book in the Monsters & Romance series follows Luna, a woman who witnessed a violent crime and who’s been sent to a remote location to protect her before she testifies in court. Someone in the police talks, though, and the man who committed the crimes finds her. Trying to escape, she runs to the forest behind the “safe” house, which leads her to a space between the human world and words she doesn’t understand. After escaping from him, she stumbles into Elar’s lake. Else is an Eelakwa who’s been hiding away from the females of his species, trying to escape their brutal mating rituals and abusive treatment. He was determined to spend his mating season alone, but one look at Luna and he knows he’s found his mate.
This book was so much better than the first one! The author definitely took the feedback from her readers seriously and it shows. There are a few things that could’ve been done better to my liking and a few errors that could be fixed with some minor editing (like parts where the narration changed from third to first person and back and weird sentence structures in other parts) but overall I didn’t close the book feeling as I felt after the first one. And since my friends have told me the third in the series is their favorite, I’m really looking forward to reading it now.
tw: rape (not between protagonists), electricity play
2.5* Better than the last book but still not great. Some parts were OK, the beginning and characters were different and interesting. I enjoyed some of the smut. but Please stop using the word naughty . Surely it's not just me that hates that word in smutty books. It's a word we use when speaking to or telling off toddlers over here. Also what did I miss ? Where the heck did this dwelling just appear from. It could be a 3* with some work but for a review there is too much for me to write that would be needed to improve the book. There are spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes throughout. The book essentially needs a rewrite -Keep the characters but develop the story and world more especially the middle and end. The ideas in the book might be better if it was developed into a longer story and there are too many loose ends .
Okay I felt as though with some of the background provided in this book, I think this could be a full length novel.
I enjoyed the backstory of Luna and Elar and the motivations behind why they were acting the way they were.
For the important stuff, there is grown up time that involves part of his anatomy that sends out an electrical pulse to certain places. I’ve never read about a creature like Elar, he is like a fish, meets human, meets electric eel. So that was a first for me and I think for this story it worked.
This is a short read with a focus on the grown up but enough of a backstory that I would love to see more and sets the story up to make sense.
Elar knows there is something special about Luna as soon as he discovers her in his lake. Luna is confused at first never having met an Eelakwa male before. Elar is in his mating heat and Luna can’t deny the instant attraction she feels for him as Elar stakes his breeding claim on her. Elar takes Luna’s ecstasy to new heights as they spend days in his den fulfilling their sensual lust. But when they finally surface, Elar’s leader confronts him for his defiance of being with a human and Elar with Luna will have to fight for the HFN.

Luna finds herself in the in-btweeem realm and duing the mating heat of Elar.
I've become a little obsessed with this authors books. I love the stories and the different characters and creatures we get to see. This is the first romance I've read where the MC was an eel so that was fun, plus his mating heat was STEAMY. I loved that he became a dominant male and really took charge with Luna.
This book was longer than the first one, but I'm still dying to know more about this world and about Elar's people. The author has me invested but I need to know more!
This was one of the sweetest spicy stories I've ever read. I love how the ml goes between dom to a cute little puppy dog begging for her forgiveness or affection. Although it doesn't go too far into their happily ever ever, which I would love to hear more of, I did enjoy the ending and how bright it looked for their future. The only thing I thought was weird, was that she gets injured as she escapes into the woods, but later there's no mention of her injuries? Just a thought for your hopefully future novel *wink wink nudge nudge* 😏
This was a great read. The love story of Luna and Elar captured my attention from the beginning. I liked the role reversal, females being the controlling gender and males not so much. I liked the females seem to rule things but I didn’t like the domination and “taking the seed” of the males of their race. I liked Luna being able to accept the affection from Elar and give him freely equality within the relationship.
I really enjoyed reading this story! I like the spooky females that tormented the bad guy. I liked the emotions from Elar. He wanted more than once a year. He wanted to be a daddy. I liked how how he took care of his mate. The zapping thing? Wow! Yes please!! Turn this into a full length novel.
I really loved this book. I wanted to hear more about Rick. Holly crap - talk about ruthless females, all I can say it wow. The description of how the take control of the breeding was insane. I really wanted to read about how their half breed younglings look like. I hope to read the novel soon, super excited
I love that there's more story and I'm wanting to know more about this world and character's lives! Incredibly creative creatures and situations and I'd love to see it full length with even More Spice throughout!!! Keep it up!!! All these 'shorts' should just be turned into a full length Series!
This was a great read. I felt for Elar, and loved that he was stated how he felt when it counted. And I'm hoping that this could become more. If definitely love to read more about this world, and I'm sure there are other males that feel like he did.
This is a very well-written book 2 in the Filthy Monster Erotica Series with very well thought out characters. It was an intriguing storyline with some great scenes. I now need to read book 1
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
how it started. kind of stilted, with strained, trite dialogue, but it blossomed into a pretty good tale! i wouldn't mind returning to find out how elar and luna (and the younglings!!! :-) ) have fared!
Elar and luna's story is a bit slippery as Luna quickly finds that no good deed goes unpunished. However Elar makes up for it. I would love if these were full novels . I seldom like short stories but these are an excellent exception.
Great story loved the plot and the option skip if I was just reading for the naughty sex.(interesting concept). I'm a reader so I don't skip. Would love to know what the leader decided .
While I liked the story there were too many loose ends for the story to be satisfactory. I want to know the fate of the couple, especially since it was made very obvious that they will have issues with the females of the tribe next heat season. Great potential but needed more
I enjoyed this book. It took a different perspective on mating heats and how they’re handled. I agree with Elar, I wouldn’t want to be a male in that situation either. I would like to find out more in the future, hopefully we’ll see these characters again.
This was a great story! I loved the romance and back story. This was a way better read then the first book and although it was short it still had all the sweet and spicy romance you could desire. I can’t wait to read the next one.
The main character said “Oh heavens” way to many times.
This was a big improvement on the first in this series. I really enjoyed this one. I loved know about the world. This was the perfect amount of world building and spice!
DNF. I get annoyed easily. This just isn't for me. So far what I read wasn't terrible or anything, it was decent enough, I just didn't vibe with the mc's. No longer finishing stories if I feel too annoyed by the mc's. Unless the plot & world building are out of this world amazing.
