Patricia Elliott lives in Beautiful British Columbia with her family. Now that her lovely kids are all teenagers and older, she has decided to actively pursue her passion for the written word.
When she was a youngster, she spent the majority of her time writing fan-fiction and poetry to avoid the harsh reality of bullying. Writing allowed her to escape into another world, even if temporarily; a world in which she could be anyone or anything, even a mermaid.
Dreams really can come true. If you believe it, you can achieve it!
Entertainingly mysterious, suspenseful and enjoyable romantic tale of love fulfilled.
Not You Again is a wonderfully entertaining tale of first love revisited. It's saucy, spicy and steamy after Emma loses her husband and Devon, her first love, takes full advantage of the opportunity, and becomes determined to correct - the biggest mistake of his life - when he let her go the first time around amidst a psychopath's attempt to kill her.
A great second chance romance! Not You Again is all about being brave enough to risk your heart and to learn to trust again, to hope for happiness even in the face of tragedy and loss. Well defined characters with sizzling sex scenes and a strong element of suspense make this a five star read. I highly recommend this book.
When Emma Praught’s husband dies, the last person she expects to hear from is Devon Matthews, her high school ex. He’d gone years without contact other than a friendly “Happy Birthday” on Facebook. Why now, of all times, should he show up? Yet that’s what he’s done, out of the blue. He says he wants to help her get through the funeral, but soon he lets it be known that he wants more. He regrets breaking her heart all those years ago and wants her to consider him again. Bad timing, right? But Emma finds that having Devon nearby is comforting when it becomes obvious someone wants to kill her. The mystery deepens, even as Emma, her daughter, and Devon slip into hiding in Manitoba, far from her home in Vancouver.
I love second chance romances, and this certainly fits the bill. I sympathized with Devon, who regrets the way he left Emma when they were young, and who now knows what he’s lost. But winning Emma’s heart again is not an easy thing. The struggles they go through and the trust that has to be earned once more is realistic enough to actually have happened. There are a few questions I thought should have been answered by the end, but they didn’t interfere with the romance or the pleasure of reading.
This romantic suspense is the story of Emma and Devon. When Emma’s world falls apart, Devon appears to reclaim the woman he only loved but is set on protecting Emma and her daughter.
I love how this author adds suspense along with romance to her books. I especially like that her characters are older. For me this makes a second chance romance all the sweeter.
She writes feisty FMCs and Emma is no exception and MMCs who are flawed but are absolutely perfect for the FMC. This story has it all. A good plot, developed characters, suspense and steamy smexy times.
If you are looking for a good romantic suspense, this is a great read (or anything else written by this author).
I almost marked this book DNF and instead, I started to skim through the story because it just never connected nor did it have that believe-ism (there's such a word) where I just wanted to lose myself in the story. Devon and Emma acted like they were teens and not as two RESPONSIBLE adults with children and commitments! They both quickly became a peeve especially Devon and he can't be blamed entirely since Emma was no better. I could go on as to why this story didn't work for me which is a bummer since the concept had merits for a great novel and that's just my own opinion and feelings but the execution missed.
