A Paranormal Women's Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!
Midlife's a journey. Enjoy the ride. Crisis included.
Never knew that life after death was far more dangerous than real life.
Never in my forty years did I think my new normal would be gluing body parts back onto ghosts and hosting a houseful of dead squatters. Thank God for superglue and a strong stomach.
Never thought I'd date the Grim Reaper and that I would be the one to blow it. I mean, how idiotic does one have to be to get dumped by a dude who lives in Hell?
Going about business as usual is not usual in any way. No one is who they seem to be... and to be honest, neither am I. What I'd known to be true has turned out to be myth. The Angels are frightening and the Demons are hot. Wait. I mean not. Who am I kidding? The Grim Reaper is very hot--like a freaking pre-menopausal hot flash hot.
Now I'm in a race against time and all sorts of unsavory supernatural horrors to save my deceased gay husband's afterlife. And that was a sentence I never thought would leave my lips.
Whatever. I'll yank up my big girl panties, stock up on wine and lean on my girlfriends as needed. As they say, when the going gets tough, the tough get inebriated... or something like that.
With everything to lose, I have no choice but to grow some lady balls. That I can do. I just hope balls will be enough.
I had planned to live midlife in peace, not in pieces. Good luck to me...
Robyn writes because the people inside her head won’t leave her alone until she gives them life on paper. Her addictions include shoes (the expensive kind), Coke with extra ice in a styrofoam cup, and bejeweled reading glasses. A former professional actress, she now lives in the south with her family and too many animals to count. Writing gives her a chance to have a job where working in her P.J.’s is acceptable. Who’s Midlife Crisis is it Anyway by Robyn Peterman 2nd book in the Good to the Last Death series. Paranormal women’s fiction. Best by in series order. Last chapter from book 1 is the first chapter in book 2. (Love that!) cliffhanger. Daisy will do whatever is necessary to protect her ex husband from the dark side of afterlife. That includes seeking out the Grim Reaper and taking back her power to help the dead and glueing on their appendages.
Some laugh out loud moments, some moments a bit sad, following Daisy on an extra-world adventure is a unique trip filled with puns, laughter and plenty of pop culture references. This is book 2 of 6 so expect a cliffhanger in all of them.
🎧 I alternated between a paperback copy and an audiobook. Both were equally fun but I enjoyed the audiobook a bit more for the performance of humor and sarcasm that came through clearly. The narrator is Jessica Almasy. 4.5
Another fun addition to Ms. Peterman's Good to the Last Death series. Daisy has so much on her plate that even I got confused a couple of times while reading but it manages to answer the question of the big cliffhanger from book #1. I laughed and I teared up a little, too, with Daisy's Gram. The characters are quirky and some are becoming amazing in their own right. I'm on to the next book in the series.
I hate to say this but I expected more, way more, we spend most of the time feeling sorry for Daisy and her mistakes, her friends being mean to Gideon without considering that it was her who was in the wrong. So that wasn't nice at all considering that each day passes like molasses and it was repeated over and over again. Then when we finally get them together time just fast forwarded until the day of the funeral, when we got the big reveal and the end... I really don't like her cliffhangers at all, mostly because I'm left feeling like I'm reading one book that has been cut out in three parts.
I'm still reading book 3 for sure, I still want to know what happens after the big reveal and the Angel of Mercy missdeeds
Daisy is working to figure out her job as Death Counselor. Ghosts hanging around the house like squatters and getting free rent! She starts to date the Grim Reaper who of course is a very good looking guy and actually a good guy...not all things are like they seem in the movies! Angels and Demons and a big sorting out to figure out who is the good guy and who is the bad guy but she's getting there. Meanwhile she is relying on her girlfriends and pulling up her big girl panties to get through it all. Good luck to me...as Daisy says: "when the going gets tough the tough get inebriated or something like that" HAHA! Funny series when you need to NOT take life so seriously! And who doesn't need that once in a while!
All I can say is I LOVED this book! I am extremely appreciative that Daisy and Gideon's relationship bump didmt drag out to the next book. I laughed until I cried and cried until laughter kicked in. The mark of a great author is when I'm annoyed I can't immediately read the next book because I have to wait for the release date! I feel like I'm fangirling here but I can't help it.. I just simply love this series and I can't wait for book 3.

Daisy is back and willing to do anything to help Steve. Even if it means contacting the Grim Reaper. You’ll laugh, cry, and laugh a whole lot more. Daisy and the rest of the quirky, lovable characters in her life will capture your heart. Need to see what happens next!
This book was hilarious. I had to back up the audio and listen again in several places because it was just so funny. Daisy’s friends are amazing and her life is crazy!! And Grandma is the best, especially at the end. Love this series.
I was only going to read a couple of chapters while waiting for my ibuprofen to kick in. Yeah so I finished the entire book. It was that good. Enjoyed it all. You can't go wrong with her books. All I can say is try them, you will love them.
This is a laugh out loud funny book! I woke my husband up several times with my laughter. Daisy is a just turned 40-year old widow of one year that begins seeing ghosts. At first, she thinks she's crazy. It takes a while for her to discover that much, much more is going on. As her house is quickly filled up with the ghosts, she talks with her grandmother and discovers that it is a family "job" to deal with these ghosts, generations of the women in her family have helped ghosts reach their final destination. Not only that, but she also meets the drop-dead gorgeous grip reaper! So much hilarity ensues, you have to read the book yourself. Robyn Peterman has done it again. Her books are so entertaining and well written, you just can't put them down until you reach the end and then you are eagerly waiting for the next one.
Again, I wanted to like this one more. But I don't like Daisy and Gideon together - they do shitty, horrible things to each other. And then a beat later, ignore that it happened, like it was nothing. In book 1, Daisy did it. In this book, Gideon did. And seriously, for someone who is probably like 10 million years old, Gideon can really act like a child.
After discovering that she's the latest in a long line of death counselors in her family in book 1 of the Good To the Last Death series, Daisy is back, and dealing with the fall out of the events of the last story.
Daisy's focus is 100% on saving Steve's soul, and that requires gathering all of the key players, including the man she fell deeply in love with, and then sent away.
I really loved Whose Midlife Crisis is it Anyway? - it was filled with amazing characters that make Daisy's life so much richer. Her group of friends are both sweet and hysterically funny, and the house full of spirits waiting for Daisy's help before moving on to the other side are both sweet and funny.
I cannot wait to see what's being cooked up in book 3 - because Daisy's midlife crisis is an absolute blast.
This book I could give way more stars then the 5. I can't even describe how good this book is. I laughed a lot. I cried some. Laughed some more. Was pissed bc people are being nut heads. It was all the feelings. When it ended I needed more right then. I know I'm going to feel this book hangover. This author is part of the pwf movement. Strong woman over 40 that kick butt.
Fantastic! This series is great – full of heart, snark, laughs, and some tears. Book two continues on Daisy’s journey into her new life as a Death Counselor – or is she? When we left her in book one, she’d quit the Death Counselor gig and made a huge mistake to save her best friend. Now she has to figure out how to fix things for Steve and for herself. Her heart may be broken, but things still need to be done. With or without Gideon.
There are far more laughs than tears, but this book really hit me in the feels. It is so great to have a heroine be so much a normal middle-aged woman having to deal with being a not-normal middle-aged woman.
All I can say is "Wow!" I have been waiting it seems forever for this second book in the series. Wow! It was worth the wait! What a roller coaster ride! I giggled hysterically, I cried tears of sadness. With a new BFF that puts her electronic boyfriends on display while she is navigating the darkness, a whole slew of new Immodiums, er, Immortals!, What can go wrong? It does help to have read book 1 first, but I loved every word and can hardly wait for book 3.
This book had me hooked from page 1 to the end. The characters, the situations definitely not what I was expecting! Plenty of twists and turns throughout. But WOW what a bloody ending holy hell... I didn’t even realise I was on the last page the end of the book was that good and had me hooked.
Oh my goodness! I laughed out loud late at night and had to get the tissue for the sad parts. I couldn't put the book down till I finished. Very well written and hilariously funny. Has some traumatic scenes as well.
I need more stars to give to this book! It was freaking fantastic and incredibly hilarious journey through this book! I absolutely loved it! I love Daisy how she grows her "Lady balls" - her words, not mine. Love her friends even weird ones, and of course Gram! She is something else! Loved the storyline with unexpected twists and turns. Robyn Peterman did a wonderful job writing this book that made me feel all kinds of emotions. I laughed out loud until cried, then cried and laughed more. Can't wait for the next installment!
Jesus in a jockstrap, to quote Jennifer! That book was so, so good! I cried so much at some point that I had to turn off my Kindle for many minutes. Then, when I resumed my reading, I ended up laughing my silly head off at the funny of a situation.
That's Robyn Peterman's genius for you. There are tears, there is emotion, but there is always a smile (or several) and a laugh (or several) coming after. Good thing because I did cry like a baby before that.
I love those characters so much! I'm glad that there is a possibility that we won't have to wait until August for the third book, because I can't wait to see what happens next! Chapeau, Ms. Peterman! That was a wonderful, wonderful story!
4.5 Stars... This was a fun read all the way through... Picking up where the previous read left off, Daisy is emotionally shattered and desperate to save her best friend... In true Southern fashion, Daisy picks herself up and dusts herself off and attacks the dilemmas with sass, attitude, and of course good manners... As she navigates these unfamiliar waters, Daisy soon learns she is no ordinary Death Counselor given her growing abilities and unnatural strengths... Secrets are soon revealed and relationships are put to the ultimate test in order to right the wrongs of another allowing her best friend to find peace in the afterlife... Filled with love, laughter, and lots of wittiness, this journey was certainly entertaining and made me want to jump right in to the next book:)
This would be the first book of Robyn’s that I have cried in both laughter and in sadness. This series is so brilliantly written that I read it in one sitting and I want the next book ASAP. This story has taken my breath away and I have so much respect for this author that she can make me laugh out loud and also have tears streaming down my face.
Did not enjoy this one as much as the first. It seemed as though only one thing was accomplished in the entire book. We had ONE thing to accomplish in this book, and we made ONE step. It was also a bit darker and less campy than the original. It was still readable - and it was Kindle Unlimited - and I will read the next one and hope for a little more of the goofiness that was present in the first.
