I'll be honest, it looks like perhaps this trade paperback was never actually published? I can't find it actually listed for sale anywhere? I have however read the individual comic issues that comprise what it was supposed to be, and I want to review them, but don't want to add the individual issues myself so here goes.

So here goes, this is the final run of this particular Elvira line. In volume 1 Elvira journeyed through time with vlad the impaler meeting various horror legends. In volume 2 Elvira journeyed through the very depths of hell itself. Here in Vol 3 (which is comprised of issues 9 through 12) Elvira gets captured by satanic larpers from a knock off of Medieval Times and adventures with a ripoff of batman? Easily the weakest part of this series, and perhaps it's weakness is why it hasn't been published as a trade paperback? Even though these aren't strong issues I still think it's weird volume 3 isn't out there, even if just for completeness sake.

It's still got fun, it's still got Elvira being Elvira, it's just a bit of a let down.

After this they started doing 4 or 5 issue series that all have their own subtitles. Next up is "The Shape of Elvira" and I am hoping for better more focused fun.

Reviewing the whole series, since I read all 12 issues in 2 sittings and it's all one big story anyway.

After being mysteriously thrown through time, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, finds herself on a whistlestop tour first of history's greatest horror writers, then the depths of Hell, before finally fleeing from a coven of witches intent on stealing her power for themselves.

It'd be really easy for this to just be cheesecake with no substance, but writer David Avallone injects levity and fun into the proceedings as well as some actual stakes that even Elvira can care about. There's winks and nods to everything, the fourth wall is in pieces, and everything's all just fun. There were a few little bits that surprised me (nicely), and even the artwork, all twelve issues pencilled by Dave Acosta, never veers into the obvious cheesecake. Elvira's sexy, and we all know it, and that's all there is to it. Even most of the variant covers collected in each volume are tasteful and in proportion (I say most).

The Mistress of the Dark's return to comics is well worth a look - maybe even two, if she'll let you.

Some parts were good, but most good parts were just feeding my nostalgia.
I mainly had to remind myself that Elvira isn't a lesbian, only Cassandra Peterson is.
This resulted in me wondering if straighties are really that easily entertained...

Elvira teams up with a Batman-esque hero to fight a cult of nerds. A fitting end to the ongoing elements from the previous two volumes. It still has its quippy zest. I wouldn't say you have to read the whole series, necessarily, but it's still a good time.
