I listened to this audio book, and I feel like it would have been better to have read the book. Listening to the audio was hard to keep up with each challenge the author had ideas for. The ideas were great, but only some went into actual detail about how to execute them.
I mean..."big book" may be a bit of a misnomer. This book was pretty slim, and while it had some inspiring ideas, it didn't have a *ton* of information. I opened to Challenge #1: Run Every Day and was like...nope, definitely never doing that. So, while there were some realistic and attainable challenges to consider (ie. get 10,000 steps, drink 64 oz. of water, etc) I feel like you could probably find a similar article on Pinterest or some random healthy living blog that would give you ALMOST an equivalent amount of information.
This one was a fun read, it was basically just one 30 day challenge a page. I got lots of ideas from it and will be doing some to challenge myself. My favorite one was the 30 day exercise challenge, study a language for 30 days, listen to a ted talk for 30 days and write for 30 days straight. There's lots more that were cool but those stood out to me. My least favorite ones were getting up at 5am every day for 30 days.....uhm no. and taking cold showers every day for 30 days, like cold therapy. Yeah, no, don't sign me up for that.
Far too many of the tips just felt like advertisements for the author's blog, or gave instructions to visit such-and-such website for more information (if only there was some way of concisely conveying information to a reader, perhaps in the form of words, printed on a page with ink, and bound together with front and back covers - that would be so convenient!), or simply gave no instructions at all (I tried to do the plank challenge, the provided calendar made reference to "scissor kicks" and "flutter kicks", which I had to look up on my own to know what those even were, and am still not certain that I'm doing right). I was hoping for something a little more in way of insight or inspiration, but for the most part this book is literally just a list of things to try. In that sense, the title certainly does not lie, but all of the references to trying things "with your kids", to going to church, and to prayer make me think that perhaps they could be a little clearer in the description as to who this book is actually for.
This book is the best hustle of 2018. I am not even sure why I picked this book for free to skim through. I think I’ve read a Kardashian’s testimonial for Sketchers longer than I read this book for.
My god I am wasting more time writing this review.
I participated in several 30 day challenges prior to reading this book. While the author provides quite a few ideas in the different areas of our lives, the book lacks in the actual details. The specifics of the challenges seem to me sort of an afterthought. The book might be a decent introduction or reminder to those who already do fitness (or some other) challenges, that they could also try one to learn a new skill or improve a habit. But, once you select a challenge, you would be better off going online to search for a detailed plan. There are much better ones that will be far more suitable.
A few good ideas, but many that seem borderline unhealthy--or else are better approached not as a 30 day challenge, but as a long-term and permanent goal. I am likely not the target audience, though, as I usually doubt the utility of 30-day challenges unless they're intended to become a long-term practice.
багато гарних ідей і порад для 30-денних викликів, але навряд ви станете робити одночасно багато з них. (можна просто погортати в магазині *підморгую*)
This was a quick read, and well worth it. The author offers a variety of fresh ideas to try along with tips on how best to accomplish them. The range of categories and broad selection of challenges touch all areas of life and include something for everyone. I definitely intend to take on some of these challenges over the course of the new year.
This was an interesting read. There are a couple of prompts throughout this book that I am going to try. This was a helpful book. I'm looking forward to trying the 30 days of yoga, drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day, the smoothie a day, writing down affirmations, daily journal, decluttering, and well anything that would help me become a better version of myself.
I think a lot of these prompts are good starters. I highly recommend this book to anyone on a journey of self discovery or trying to become a better version of themselves.
I liked this and am ready to pick my first 30-day challenge. I liked many of the challenge ideas in this book, and each one has a very adaptable layout/plan. Some challenges are more guided than others, which I liked but then some weren't guided that I wish were. But it would be easy to write out your own, fitting it to your lifestyle. A few of the challenges are a little...out there?...but overall I liked it, and it sparked a few of my own challenge ideas.
I think I would have benefited from this book more by reading it in November/December when I’m planning my yearly goals instead of January when I’ve already figured out what I am going to be focusing on for the coming months.
The two stars reflects more of a mistake on my part than a purely accurate reflection of the value of this book. It's a book-long list (just as the title suggests) of things you can do to presumably improve your life. I always think someone has better ideas than I do and it is true frequently. This would be a good book for someone who really has no clue where to begin to improve their circumstances, de-clutter, sleep better, get along with others better, interact with your family better, stretch yourself socially, emotionally, physically, financially, etc. It also provides a laundry list of activities or actions you can take to implement the various ideas. You never know when you will get that life-changing idea!
Incredibly short book about some ideas for thirty day challenges. The themes include fitness, food, mindfulness, organization & productivity, networking & relationships, and creativity & learning. Nothing deep, each suggestion is covered by two to four pages of information. Fun read for those who want a little guidance and thoughts of new personal challenges. Probably good for those looking for New Years Resolutions.
Had some good, useful tips and I will keep the book around for reference. I’ve already looked back at it a few times and have recommended it to friends; not five stars worthy per se I think just because the nature of the book but for its intended purpose it did a good job encompassing all areas of life. I would have liked a work or work/life balance section too but all good
Another audiobook listen which I picked for its speediness but actually really enjoyed. It sparked an interest in 30-day challenges for me which I am now implementing by doing my first 30-day challenge this month!
Very cool ideas for 30-day challenges, broken up in the book by topic (health, food, creativity, etc). While there could have perhaps been a larger array of topics, each topic choice had a bunch of ideas within it, meaning there's something for everyone!
Книга оказалась несколько более банальной, чем я рассчитывала, но и из нее можно вытянуть немного идей, каплю полезной информации и кроху вдохновения. Но, конечно, не то, что я буду когда либо перечитывать.
You can create a habit in 30 days and you can commit to anything for 30 days. I got some ideas for challenges. It gives you tips on how to achieve those challenges.
