The throat, located just one energy center north of the heart and one jump south of the mind, is in a precarious position in the body. A short journey from heart to mind and back down to the throat takes mere seconds, but many detours are taken en route. For today's spiritually traumatized, broken-hearted and soul-wounded, the process of revealing what rests on the heart can be a paralyzing challenge. To clear the path of negative imprint, one must declare the intention to speak to what matters most and set about the task of discerning what that is. One can make a choice now to stand up to the fears that mangle the truth into expressions more palatable for others, cause explosions of rage, freezing up, or cut-and-run behavior. This book takes aim at strengthening the confident voice of the individual while emphasizing relational communications. Each prayer concentrates on an aspect of healing the Honoring Clarity, Humility, Advocacy, Sorrow, Fear, Rage, and Protection. The book
This is a secular “prayer” book that I feel belongs in every home, on every waiting room magazine rack, in every child’s hands, in every struggling adult’s toolbox. These are deeply thoughtful and comforting affirmations that can be chanted aloud or quietly read to yourself during dark times, during joy filled days, during creative ruts or even in conflicts. They diffuse the doubts I have with myself and others simply by pointing out the sacred in everything and how honoring the lessons of hardship can lift you up instead of drag you down.
I read this as part of my 300hr Yoga Teacher Training, and am only sad I didn't find this earlier. Each prayer has a subject and phrases that are universally relatable regardless of belief system. The questions/journal prompts at the end of each section are definitely a bonus. This book makes you think...and feel.
As one who has been in need of the language to communicate what i didn’t know were challenges, Pixie Lighthorse’s offerings came at a pivotal point in my grief journey.
If i could read just these books, until i didn’t need to anymore, i would. And, these will be in heavy rotation as i navigate forward. This particular volume of prayers is vital in regaining the confidence that while breathing air, our individual stories are worth the effort to be available enough to share.
Pixie is a master at sharing cosmic truths with the gentle care of a loving kindergarten teacher. The care given is anything but elementary however (cosmic truths).
This book changed my life. In a world on negative self-speak; that which we say to ourselves, and hear from others, I reflect on this book to find the words to comfort myself and give as advice. It teaches beautiful lessons on being patient with yourself and holds wisdom that can heal relationships.
I enjoyed reading this book each night as inspiration for sleep and a bright outlook on the next day. I’ll read it again to journal and investigate further.
I read this and finish and then begin again. I meditate on one reading a day and find inevitably, that the day relates to my day. These thoughts/reflections/prompts are helpful to anyone.
This book of prayers honoring voice is incredible. I highly, highly recommend. I flip through the book and select a prayer each morning and each evening depending on what I may be struggling with (hello anxiety) and I also read the Honoring Creativity prayer before my daily writing session. The prayers are beautifully written and are not geared toward a specific religion so they work well for anyone with any belief system. The book is slim enough so I can carry it in my purse and pull it out whenever I need a little extra encouragement or assistance. Love, love, love this book of prayers!
As a secular person, I love her books of prayer. They are beautiful poetry and make you feel in a way no religion has ever done for me. I read a couple each day and I think that is the best way to devour each little gem.
