When the introduction of brothels manned by AI-powered sex robots threaten the profitability of the world's oldest profession, the street girls decide it’s time to fight for their future and bring the punters back where they belong: between their legs. I wish I lived in Peter Caffrey’s head…what a trip that would be!! 🤪
I love everything that I have read so far of Mr Caffrey’s, and this is definitely one of them. The government has decided that A.I. robots should replace the sex workers in brothels, pushing all of the prostitutes out on the street, with the only punters, being the grimiest of society…and the women have had enough!!
This is darkly hilarious, bizarre, gory and such a hoot to read!! Not only do we get the main story, but also six bonus stories “Other Sordid Tales Of Erotic Automatons”… my favourites being “Owning Emily”, “Training Terrance” and “Being Priscilla”, but all are absolutely brilliant!!

Bizarre, Humorous and Original!
Whores Versus Sex Robots (and Other Sordid Tales of Erotic Automatons) by Peter Caffrey is an original, well-written and bizarre story about a war between ladies of the night and a fictional company developing sex robots.
Peter Caffrey said in an interview that he was a journalist specializing in the early days of AI, covering development work in the Defense field. So he knows a lot about what is possible with AI. But what inspired this creative book, was watching a documentary called Sex Robots Are Coming, and particularly the part where an old man who likes sex dolls was introduced to a real sex robot. The interaction was laughable, due to the limited number of possible interactions. All this knowledge, amplified by the imaginative mind of Peter Caffrey gave birth to this unique book.
The main story is very good, but I have a preference for the five Sordid Tales of Erotic Automatons. Each story is a Sex Robot adventure. I rated 5 stars for each of them.
However, my favorite story is Owning Emily. A sex robot cared for and used by its owner to do everything except what it's supposed to do.
My second favorite story is Absolving Anna. It is a sex robot who has faith.
My third favorite is Training Terrence. I found this story so touching.
Being Prescillia is my fourth favorite. The moral of this story would be to not fall in love with a facade. Appearances can be very deceiving.
Chromium Cindy is my fifth favorite. Robert should have been more careful to where he puts his reproductive organ.
I highly recommend this book if you like Bizarro and Horror, or if you are looking for a well-written, absurd, and original horror book.

'Is Summer finally over? - that is the question.'
Whores v Robots. And the winner is...? I'm delighted to say, that without a shadow of a doubt, it's most definitely...the fortunate reader.
This humorous, urban noir horror book was split into two sections, the first being the
W v R novella itself, followed by 5 shorter fun Sex Robot bonus tales.
The Whores and Robots adventure read like watching a 'B'- rated 1990's horror movie, with the main action centred around a 'sex-service, looking for business' turf war between the newly licensed, AI money-making, Erotibot Company and the hard-working, well-established working girls themselves.
With emotions running high, enter Alan and Summer, now matters are most certainly going to come to a head - and it’s bound not to be pretty!
A well-structured, clever plot that reads a little like an adult, mildly violent, comic magazine, the scene being set from the outset with the fast-paced, often brutal and absurd action following closely behind.
Lacking the expected sexually explicit action, the story concentrates more on the vicious confrontations between the two parties, with the coincidental 'coming-of-age' 21 chapters lighting a slow burner fuse at the start, but soon firing up to give plenty of entertaining, highly inventive and creative action that builds up into a crescendo that doesn't fail to deliver. The final encounter, chapter 21, was simply fantastic, long to be remembered, painting up images that could be very well be from the all-time classic 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' itself.
The war, the war, the war itself appears to be over, but the outcome, winners and very existence of the ever-present, long, super-hot Summer is still undoubtedly left finely in the balance. Only time and technology will tell. -4 stars

All fantastic fun, ranging from Anna, the crazy religious automaton, to Priscilla, the robot-girl who just wants to find love. Absolving Anna, the last story, had me in stitches - absolutely loved it and the most amusing thing I've read in a while.
Finally a special thank you to the author Peter Caffrey, who provided some family background, given a twist, for one of these marvellously imaginative stories. And glad to say, it worked an absolute treat! Which one? - my lips remain sealed. -5 stars.
Great fun and highly recommended.

An enormous overload of bizarre sexbot stories...some fairly good...some extremely poor.
You can only take so much of these sex machines...then unfortunately they will blow your microchip, scorch your circuit board and send your CPU sky high.
And "Know-It-All" Summer drove me insane!! I was actually convinced she was one of them?? 🤔😕
Quite repetitive, rather creepy and perverse...but it didn't keep me interested for very long.
Only 3 ⭐⭐⭐⭐'s 🤖 🤖 🤖

The titular novella is a fun, fast-paced thriller in which a group of streetwalkers who have been put even more on the skids than usual by legalized sex robot brothels plot to sabotage the system. The plans quickly go south.
I ended up reading this whole novella in nearly one sitting. Despite the fact the ending leaves something to be desired, I had a lot of fun with it. It also shows a deep sympathy for the plights of sex workers that lesser works would just make fun of or ignore.
The remaining short stories are fantastic as well. The stand out for me was "Training Terrence." I never would have thought a story about a male sex robot that pisses itself could tug on my heartstrings like it does. "Being Priscilla" gets extra points for being a funny and disturbing retelling of a Velvet Underground song. "Watching Tabatha" is a hilarious and very British comedy story. "Absolving Anna" is about a great story about a sex robot whose advanced AI leads it to becoming a Christian and all the troubles that comes with that. A unique twist on the question of at what point AI becomes morally equivalent to a person.
Highly recommended.

Ok so I know I said the last one was my favourite Caffrey book but it's this one. I loved everything about this book. I've never been team whore before lol. I want to live in Peters brain for just a little while.

Took me back to a simpler time when people were making fun of the Japanese punters for their sex doll hotels and their declining birth rate. The Japanese birth rate keeps declining, so the robots won in real life.
