Valerie: I thought waking up on a spaceship was traumatic. That's got nothing on returning to consciousness while shackled in a cell. The kicker? I'm supposed to be a breeder for the alien in the cell next to me. My mother always told me I had birthing hips, but I don't think she meant they were for pushing out blue extraterrestrials. I want to hate my cell-mate, but he's a prisoner too, and so far he's taken a few beatings to protect me...
Sax: The food sucks but the view has gotten a hell of a lot better since the human female showed up. I know exactly what our captors want--for us to mate so they can take our baby. Over my dead body. I'm willing to suffer their abuse if they leave the pretty female alone, but when they hurt her, all bets are off. Now I'm not only finding a way to escape with her, I'm also taking out every last captor before I leave. And then? I'll fill her with as many babies as she wants.
The Alien's Escape is a full-length Sci-Fi Romance novel featuring a curvy heroine with nursing skills and a snarky, devoted hero with a pierced tongue who isn't afraid of a little pain.
As alien romances go…nothing special. It was short, insta-lovey, with good spice though.
Drixonian Warriors are a classic alien romance dream. All their women died of a plague. They are fierce, unparalleled warriors feared across the galaxy. Their creed is “She Is All”, i.e., women are everything to them. Their existence revolves around protecting and serving women, including those of the human variety. (Though this apparently does not apply to the women of the Aldani, the alien race oppressing them.)
Book 2 technically is a standalone, but I would suggest reading The Alien’s Ransom first, as Sax is introduced in that book and book 2 picks up after the events of book 1. Frankie and Daz also make an appearance in this story.
I listened to the audiobook but wasn’t a big fan of the male narrator. Also, every time someone said “Sax” I thought they were saying “sex” which was all kinds of confusing.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙💚💜❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘 World building: 🌎🌍🌏 Character development: 😟👽😳 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Valerie - she is a nurse who just wants a home of her own with maybe a pet, she thinks men are all liars. She has worked hard, her parents were dead and she has a healthy bank account which isn’t doing her any good now that she has been taken captive by aliens. She went to sleep in her apartment one night and woke up on a ship. When they landed, she was shackled and possibly bought by another race of alien.
The Hero:Sax - he is a huge, muscular blue Drixonian with snakelike skin, pierced nipples and horns. He is shackled in the same cage as Valerie, he knows his brother was also a captive who escaped with his human mate. Sax had been beaten over and over by the Uldani captors.
The Story: The Drixonians used to work for the Uldani as guards and law enforcement. They thought they were respected partners, but found that they were more like slaves and the Uldani had been holding some of them captive and experimenting on them. The Drixonian warriors, who are the most feared warriors in the galaxy, had an uprising and fought for their freedom. However, the Uldani captured some and want them to reproduce, so they can bring up a new army of Drixonian warrior slaves who can be shaped into exactly what the Uldani want.
The book was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Heather Costa and Jeffrey Kafer. Heather has a bit of a raspy voice and sounds like she is reading more than talking naturally, but she isn’t bad. Jeffrey has a decent voice and speaks at a good cadence for an alien. Though more chapters were told in Valerie’s point of view and I wasn’t too fond of her male voice, it sounded a bit like a man who inhaled helium.
The story was good, but not too involved. I think the world building and character development could have been better, it all seemed a bit rushed. The entire series was on sale, so I am hoping the books get better than this one. It wasn’t bad, just a bit unoriginal for an alien romance.
So another great installment here. I was not sure how I'd feel about Sax's story. Who is the only surviving blood relative to our Daz (Book 1 who is Drexel aka Leader of their Clavas/clan), But his and Val's story was a VERY intense, frightening, close calls kinda read. And the romance/sexy erotica you get with both couples in these first 2 books are just off the chain amazing.
I LOVE VAL! She is my girl. And her quiet strength, level headedness and Empathy really had me rooting for and loving her. Sax and Val have awesome chemistry across the board with one another.
The continued or on going plot here, has many mysteries that will keep you coming back if only to see how it all pans out for everyone involved. Again, as I stated in my review for book 1, I've read this type of plot many times in this genre, but what makes this series the absolute best one I've come across is the characters. They're not two dimensional for one thing. ALL the experiences and revelations flow organically for me. I believe what I'm reading. I see it unfolding as if I'm watching it. And this Blue, Honor bound male Alien Species just tugs at my heart strings. I cannot put these books down so far. I pray that this trend continues as I make my way through the series.
I went back to read the free Prequel for this one and have plans to jump right into book3 after I'm done.
Based on these first 2 books alone, and what I'm reading in the Prequel right now, I would highly recommend this series to any Alien Sci-fi fan. Even if you're not a fan of this genre, I think this series would make you one. It's that good and all consuming.
I enjoyed seeing what happened to Sax and him finding his cora-eternal. I loved seeing some of the asshole Uldanis get what was coming to them, including that sick doctor. Sax was a flirty sweetheart. Val was a crybaby mess. I've never seen someone so insecure and prone to tears. I really just want to read Gar's story. I love super grumpy massive hulks that turn out to be teddy bears.
I really love Val and Sax. 💕 Even though they met in an utterly dire, hopeless situation, they were so strong, sweet, and sometimes funny. Their song definitely is ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna. They are utterly adorable and lovable.
I enjoyed the ‘being held captive’ storyline. It was interesting to learn more about what the Uldani are trying to accomplish with their secret program. Can’t wait for more to be uncovered!
As with the first book, things started to get a bit drawn out around 75%. So I started skimming anything that wasn’t dialogue to get to the end.
This was a fun, quick read and I’ll definitely continue reading the series. Would I recommend this series to everyone? Probably not. I think sci-fi romance lovers will enjoy it, but for those who prefer other genres, I don’t think this would be for them.
Well this was quite a bit darker than the first one, but still very sweet and exciting. I can already tell this series is going to be one of those that I read back to back until it's done in as short a time as humanly possible. There's something so addictive about it!
3.5 stars. Another good book in the series that I really enjoyed overall. My only issue was in how I pretty much knew what to expect while reading since it was all fairly similar to book 1. I didn't know what to expect from specific events, but I could always guess what was coming next - whether it be another confrontation with the baddies, some downtime, sexytime, etc. These are fast paced books and I really did enjoy the world building and overarching story arc in the series.
Safe; hero a virgin, heroine not, no others.

I didn't love this one as much as I did the first book, but I still enjoyed returning to this world. The fated mates trope is my absolute favorite, and seeing the sacred bonds develop between the Drixonions and human women is so amazing. Sax and Val's story was not as action-packed as book one, but the connection between them was still as intense. I'm looking forward to the next in the series! ♡
Another great read in the series. Took me a while to read only because I had a lot of RL stuff come up and little time to read, but I do would have finished in 2 days given the chance. We learn more and see more of the world. Loved the couple and their daring escape. Lots of sexy times too. Can’t wait to dive into the next book.
I LOVE this series so much! Alien Bikers! Yes! And they are everything! Ella Maven is a fracking brilliant! If you want an adventure that is different and really good grab this series!
The hero is so freaking heroic that he seems almost unbelievable... you will fall in love with him.
The heroine is more than she ever realized! So much more. She is brave and smart and beautiful!
I cannot recommend this series more to fans of romantic scifi!
— what does these matching wrist markings mean? — it means fatas has chosen you for me. and me for you. it means we’re meant to be together and we can feel each other’s emotions… i can feel you - your aura - like a fierce salibri in my mind.
the alien’s escape is the second book from the drixonian warrior series and I’M SCREAMING!!! this one was SO GOOD (i told you i would love some other book more than the first one… that always happens).
i just wanted to say… give a chance for this series if you are into aliens book or if you want to start this genre (is it a genre? i don’t think so, but maybe it could be lol)
i really loved how sax and val connected and cared for each other since the first time they met. they are really a goals couple, fighting for their lives and trying to keep them safe.
when i met sax at the end of the first book, i was like “meh… i don’t know if i’ll like his book… i don’t know much about him” (that’s because you need to read it, tiana… stop being dumb.)
well…….. i loved.
i giving 4 starts cause i feel bad giving 5 stars (i saw my 2021 retrospective and basically i gave 5 starts to 85 books and 4 starts to 60 - i basically don’t have a critical sense. so in my heart is 5 starts but it’s 4 here :)
as i said at the first book review: if you are into alien smut, don’t lose the opportunity to give a chance for this series! i’m really excited to meet all the other characters (and look at the bright side… it only has 7 books!)
- fast pace 🏃🏽♀️💨 - smut 🔥 - alien & human 👽 - we are meant to be together plot ♾️ - we fight to survive 👊🏽 - book 2
I liked this but not as much as the first book. I can’t quite get behind the core idea in this ‘verse that the hero killing someone is what triggers the “loks” that appear when the MCs realize they’re fated mates. But I am curious as to what’s going to happen to the next couple, and there’s enough potential with the overarching storyline that I’ll keep reading.
Sax and Val were a great couple. He was suffering in prison until he met her. She was kidnapped from Earth and brought directly to the breeding prison of the Uldani.
Val realized Sax was a prisoner when she first saw him and she cared for his wounds. They were both attracted to each other from the beginning but due to their circumstances they fought it.
I liked how he encouraged her to stand up for herself and also that he would defend her to the end. I didn't likenthe crazy Uldani doctor getting to him but they made it home safely and got their HEA.
The heat level was 🔥🔥🔥 for this one. Moving on to the next story tomorrow.
I liked this second installment of the Drixonian Warriors series. I love the protectiveness of the males and the strength of the women. A bit of a fave trope here with the hero almost dying. I do plan to continue with this series.
I am absolutely loving this series! Granted it's only two books so far but, they are amazing! This from someone who never really liked sci-fi books! The world building is very well done. The two main characters were awesome! I would definitely recommend this series.
This book tells the story of the brother of book one’s hero. In book one he sacrificed himself so his brother and his mate were able to escape.
He didn’t expect to find his own mate while being in captivity. The heroine of the book got abducted from earth to be in the breeding experiment. When she meets the guy, that is also a „prisoner“, she is supposed to breed with she didn’t expect to fall in love instead.
I enjoyed this book so freakin much. The story was very good, thrilling, sweet and exciting .
The characters were great too. I love that they think so very rational.
Overall this was very good and I recommend it if you like alien romance.
Description: "She will have my babies, but on our terms."
Now I'm not only finding a way to escape with her, I'm also taking out every last captor before I leave. And then? I'll fill her with as many babies as she wants.
My Thoughts: The Alien’s Escape is my favorite so far. I love Sax and Valarie. They are a power couple. I just love them. But his and Val's story was a VERY intense, it had me on the edge of my seat. Sometimes it felt like they might not get out of there. Also the over arching side plot developed a lot in this book. Definitely made me want to know more about it.
i loved val for her quiet strength, level headedness and empathy she had for sax from the beginning. She didn’t know him and tried to protect him. Same with him protecting her. Sax is just awesome he risked his life not only for val but for his people. We first met him in the first book and i liked him ever since then.
If you like alien romance then i’d recommend this series. It’s a fun and wild ride. :)
I think this series is topping my favorite, ice plant Barbarians. DONT SHOOT. HEAR ME OUT. I love this series so much. I have been devouring these like crazy. I like how the couples are set up and it does feel like everyone is a couple. There are more men than women by a lot still so it doesn’t have that cliche of every character getting a romance. Yes, I do know the main guys and all the girls will but it’s more spaced out and it’s not being crammed down your throat of who is next. I love how this is darker in setting/tone and I like the lore of the drix as a race. I, also, love the pacing. It isn’t to long, but it isn’t to short which I find is a huge problem of lots of romances in kindle unlimited. Oh, and these guys are ALIENS. And I mean that they aren’t just a different color with a tail. They have completely different bodies than a human with different blood, self defense (this is a side note but us humans got freaking sweating and they get retractable blades, horns, they don’t sweat, and all this extra stuff? We have been shafted lol), and body build. Overall, I really, really love this series.
The Alien's Escape is the second book in the Drixonian Warriors series but the first I've read by Ella Maven. Told in first person, alternating pov, the story revolves around an abducted human woman and her alien love. Valerie--Val--is a nurse whose mom just passed from cancer and is left alone when she gets abducted by aliens. After some very invasive medical things (trigger warning: they touch her and change her clothes and strap her to a medical table without her consent), Val discovers they want her for her womb and they plan for her to breed with this super warrior alien sharing her cell on the alien planet. His name is Sax and he and Val quickly fall in love and overcome the obstacles to be together.
This is a short-ish novel about a sweet alien MF romance with a mostly human seeming mmc, a plus size heroine, and some potentially triggering scenes of torture. If what you're looking for is something quick to read where the mmc is a green-flag and there's a relatively low-angst story and guaranteed HEA, this is perfect for you.
I will say the following and as it contains some spoilers, I'm hiding it:
Overall, I wanted more worldbuilding. Don't get me wrong, I really like Sax and Val. Sax and his clavas are feminists and their motto is "she is all." just a bunch of green-flags waiting to find their mates. And Val grew over the course of the book to be more confident which was nice to see. Despite the blurb, there is no pregnancy on page in the book though!
I love the action in this series. There are a lot of sexy times too, more than I care for but someone else might love that. I really hate how the women in these stories get all "I'm not worthy" and the men too. That's going to get old fast. I love how the world is described. I hate how we're told that there is a sister planet so close you can almost see the surface. That scenario is not possible. Authors really need to think about science, gravitational pulls, and orbits. It looks nice in a sci-fi painting. I like a little real science in my sci-fi even if it is a fantasy with magical love bracelets. I love the relationships between the couples. Each story is different, so far. This series is similar to Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarians in that the guys are blue with big horns and tails, love and live to serve the women by their choice, and the women are kidnapped from earth. All other parts of this series are very different. But I love both series just the same. I love the high tech - low tech disparity. The big blue guys know how to use technology but have had most of their access to it removed by the bad guys. I'm really enjoying this series and find myself wanting to buy the next book ASAP.
