This book, along with a companion book Witness to History: World War II Home Front, will give the students some great sources to go to in order to read and understand some primary source material for the war. It is a little advanced for them, but, the variety of source material is great along with the pictures and the general explanations for each section. This would not be a book I would recommend the students read as a whole, but like a great deal of non-fiction, I would recommend they choose a page or two that go along with their area of interest and really close read the source material to form some of their own opinions. I think reading and annotating one or two of this together as a class could be a great lesson.

A good overview of the war and all aspects of it. But it did feel a bit like whip lash like you had to absorb a lot of details and experiences. Each different thing about the war was given two pages, one of information and one of a first hand source. There was a lot of good information and the first hand sources were really good. But it was really difficult to go from one piece to the next. It was hard to get into or get into a flow of the story.
Very informative and a short quick read.

The content of this book was interesting and fully amazing. The words used was excellent.
It fully touches on the second world wars happening all across the Earth.
I rated it 5 out of 5 stars as it completely described how people cope or bear with the bombings and suffering during that painful period of time.

I didn't enjoy this book at all. It was very boring and confusing. It talked about soldiers life in world war 2. They talk about too many things at the same time. I gave this book 1 star because it was not something I liked and I don't recommend this book to any of my friends.
