Bad, boring, tame and lame. Why did this girl want to be with this guy? He was just a big bully. She was destitute and lonely so I guess that’s why she ‘fell in love’ with him.
These two go on the run from nothing, then decide to confront the problem instead of running. Which if they had just done in the first place would have saved me from reading a lot of boring story. The FMC was described as small and often dressed and was mistaken for a young boy, and the MMC was described as very large so all the ‘domestic discipline’ seemed unnecessary. He spanked her for disobeying him and keeping things from him when, as she was an intelligent adult, he could have just talked to her and got her agreement that way. The spankings were never necessary and never hot in this book. I think this genre is just too crazy and problematic for me. Why would her being afraid of being beaten by him for any wrong move be sexy in any way. This just isn’t steamy for me. And the sex scenes were lame and boring so this whole read was just a big yawn fest.

I couldn't take the hypocrisy of Lars -- a man who has stolen, been in prison, and caused his brother and sister-in-law no end of trouble -- judging and beating a friendless, penniless young woman whose "crimes" were of necessity, while his decidedly were not.

YOU’RE MY JOURNEY’S END, ELLIE GIRL. MY HOME AND MY HARBOR

What a great start to a new series, Journey’s End, which is a spin-off from Lonestar Love. If you haven’t read that series, don’t worry, you won’t be lost. It will have a few characters, married couple, Caroline and Sven Neilson, and his brother, Lars. They are traveling from Texas, are now in California, and heading to Oregon. Stopping for supplies on the trail will have Lars encountering a young pick-pocket. He will take the scallywag to his hotel while dispensing discipline to discover it isn’t a young boy, but a beautiful woman—and she is scared because an evil man is after her. This will be the story of Lars Neilson and Ellie McBride.

It is discussed between the Neilson family that they will hide Ellie in their wagon and help her escape from Simon Prescott. Lars will inform her that there will be rules, and when broken, he will administer the consequences in the form of a spanking—and Ellie agrees.

“All right, you know you’ll be spanked for disobedience, for putting yourself or others in danger. Say it. I won’t have any misunderstandings between us,” Lars demanded.

There are posters with a fifty dollar reward that will make it dangerous for Ellie and the Neilsons.
When it comes down to safety, Ellie and Lars will separate from Sven’s family and travel on horseback away from the Oregon trail, into the mountains. Lars will have to protect himself and her, and even find work to keep them on the trail. Keeping her identity safe will include her dressing as a young boy again. When danger is near, they must leave out again. During this journey, the connection between them has them falling in love. But Lars has been warned that all it takes is one time for a pregnancy to happen—and he doesn’t want that for Ellie.

“I have feeling for you, and, to tell the truth, I’m a mite confused. I’ve got a hankering to keep you, Ellie girl if you’ve a mind to be mine.”

The journey to meet up with Sven’s family is their goal, but they must handle the matter of the danger to her by Simon and decide to take a new route to clear it up. They will also decide to marry before continuing their journey to Oregon. The story will have several scenes of danger, suspense, and includes punishments as Lars protects Ellie from danger, and even from her own foolishness. Being honest or keeping secrets all play a vital role in life and death along the trail. Her innocence to the ways of the world places her life on the line—and he is determined to keep her safe, even if it comes with a harsh punishment. There is no sex until after marriage in this story.

“Tell me, Ellie, were you disobedient? Did that disobedience put your safety at risk? You knew you would be spanked for it. If I let it pass, if I’m not true to my word, how can you trust me? How will you know I mean what I say? No, Ellie girl, I plan to be as reliable as the sunset. When you deserve to be spanked, I’ll see to it.”

This terrific story is book 4 in the Lonestar Love series that can easily be read as a standalone. The story opens with husband Sven, his wife Caroline, their young son, and Sven's brother Lars as they make their way to a new start in Oregon. Lars has led a life of bad choices and has recently worked hard to turn that life around. During a stop in San Francisco, Lars catches a young thief trying to empty his pocket. He brings that young thief back to the hotel room where his brother waits with his family. Soon they discover he is actually a young woman, in desperate circumstances. Ellie has a horrible man chasing her and right there and then, Lars determines he will not let that happen. The little group sets out the next morning for the next stage of the trip. Soon, they are found and Lars and Ellie decide to go off on their own to avoid bringing danger to Sven's family. Once on the run these two find themselves growing closer and build a strong relationship. Soon they are falling for each other but Lars is determined to do right by Ellie and wait for marriage and Ellie is trying to decide if she can live with a dominant man who punishes wrongdoing. As with the previous books in this series, I found this story romantic, interesting, fast-paced and charming. I loved catching up with characters from the previous book and found everything about it to be warm and inviting with a good touch of spice. Although there is no cliffhanger, the set up for the next book in the series has me already eager to read it too. I think you will enjoy this wonderful western as much as I have.

Unveiling a foray of drama, turmoil, misgivings, angst, bedlam, intrigue, mounting suspense and perplexing situations along with a double-dose of calamity, you have one chart topping adventure. A raging vortex of inexplicable events and baffling circumstances, throw this bad boy into a churning tempest, blowing it into a tailspin with a life altering, mind-blowing culmination. The attraction and chemistry sizzles, alluring and mesmerizing, exposing a deep connection and amplifying affections, binding them together perfectly. Bumbling through the trials and tribulations along with thrilling twists and harrowing turns, jolting our characters off kilter, testing them in ways they could have never imagined. The personalities are well matched and blend together smoothly. The characters and scenes are so colorfully descriptive to give you a full understanding and realism that blend and flows smoothly. Victoria Phelps has written another great book with a start to this new series: Journey's End. The storyline kept my attention with the twists and turns as these couples make this trip to their new beginning. The characters vary and definitely have the humble, loving, heartwarming, and honest people. However, as with any good story, it also has it's cold hearted and evil ones too. The author is wonderful at weaving the calm times with critical moments that keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing as to what will happen at any given moment. The men love their women but will not think twice about spanking a naughty women's bottom if it will keep them safe from harm and following the rules that are there to protect them. The wilderness can be dangerous but so can the evil people looking to harm an innocent woman. So come read and enjoy the trip to Journey's End as you get to know the characters an what drives them. I highly reccomend this 5 star read and look forward to reading book 2. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.

The Journey’s End series jumps off from the Lonestate Love series with the story of Lars Neilson. Sven’s brother is moving to Oregon with Sven and Caroline. While stopped in San Francisco to rest and gather supplies before their wagon trip north, Lars catches a pickpocket. He spanks the young boy, then marches him to their hotel room. While spanking him again, the youngster’s hat falls off proving he is a she.

Caroline sends the men out of the room, while she helps Ellie bathe and put on a dress. Once the men return, they learn her story. Her family lost their hotel in a card game, but she and her mother continued to work their and clean rooms. After her mother died, Ellie continued to work there. But the hotel owner’s evil son used a room as his playroom, where he raped and tortured orphan virgins, then sold them to a bordello in China. This evil man now wanted Ellie.

Lars immediately takes over her protection. He sends Sven and Caroline on to Oregon, while he and Ellie go into the mountains to hide out.

A fast moving story with lots of action as Lars and Ellie fall in love, and Ellie learns what it means to love a spanking man.

If the rating system allowed I would give this a 3.5. It is Book One in the Journey's End series is ‘Here Comes McBride’, an easy to read story with a setting of the old west. The storyline is straightforward – a young woman trying to escape the nefarious intentions of a sleazy man with connections, and the reformed bad boy who protects her and falls in love with her.

Lars Nielson, the hero, confesses to a misguided past that really messed up his life for a while. Eleanor McBride, the heroine, is a strong young woman struggling against the odds to survive all by herself. This book has romance, drama, danger, an evil villain, and a taste of the uncertain life of a frontier settler. Be aware that this story contains some DD. Lars’ behavior toward her sometimes seemed over the top because he himself was reportedly such a misbehaved guy. But it is made clear that he is trying to keep her safe, and at one point he even backs off and acknowledges his own fault in the scene that has taken place.

Journey’s End what a lovely name.
An awesome historical western with a bit of domestic discipline is Ms. Phelps's tale. Lars and his brother are heading Oregon for a new wife. Then a pickpocket enters their life and things kind of snowballed after that. Ellie is scared running from a man who means her harm she dresses as a boy. When she tries to steal from Lars she finds out just what kind of man he is. The story takes off from there with danger, drama, and such a sweet romance oh, I almost forgot there is a bit of steam too. I enjoyed this book so much if you do not mind a bit of spanking then this is a book you will enjoy too.
I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

More threat than action

Lars Nielson is heading to Oregon with his brother , sister in law and nephew when he stops a pickpocket from stealing his money. Dragging the boy back to his hotel, he is delivering a spanking when he discovers the boy is in fact a girl.

Ellie is running from a man who wishes to hurt her. Lars and his family decide to help her and smuggle her out of town, but soon Lars decided he needs to keep the rest of his family safe, so he spirits Ellie away, arranging to meet up at journey's end.

The plot was not one of the best I have read and there is more threat hovering rather than bad guy action. The spanking seemed too contrived to me and , no matter the story, is monotonous similar in every one.

After the previous book I really didn't think the author could make Lars likeable. Somehow though, the past was quickly forgotten and he proved himself a likeable guy. The story was very well written. The author pulled me in early on and kept me interested until the end. Lars and Ellie worked well together, and there was enough outside drama to spice up the story. I really like how the author manages to transition from one series to the next. There are references to older characters, but enough new material to keep things fresh. I look forward to reading more from this new series.

This book has Sven, Caroline and Lars from book three of Lonestar Love. They are traveling to Oregon to settle there. While in San Francisco, they meet Ellie. She is trying to get away from a man who wants to abuse her. The Nielsons agree to help Ellie escape. Lars is enamored with her and they fall in love as they travel. I enjoyed reading Lars' story. This book starts out right where the last one ended- with the Lars, his brother and sister-in-law on their way to a new home, a new start. Lars captures a boy trying to steal his money, only it isn’t a boy, and she needs a fresh start too. This is a surprisingly sweet story, given how it started. Lars is not the best character in the first book, but he is completely likable in this book. I really enjoyed this book.

Awesome Series

I LOVE these stories! The latest, with Lars & Sven as the strong, dominant, sexy heroes and their beautiful, sassy, submissive ladies, will entertain for hours. There is romance, mischievous behavior, drama, suspense, discipline and a lot of love. Their journey is so well written that the reader can place herself/himself on the trail beside them and absorb the story from start to finish. Totally a fun read! ♥️

Great Western romance

When a raggedy little pickpocket sneaks up on Lars Nielsen, neither of their lives will ever be the same. A growing romance, an escape from danger and a missing brother makes this an edge of your seat story! Looking forward to seeing what happens with Mitch, the prodigal brother.

On the run

Ellie and Lars have chemistry from their first meeting and a spanking as well. On the run with family they are ahead of a sadist that wants Ellie.
Action, adventure, heat and more make this historical western an enjoyable read.

What an adventure

So scary and terrifying, being the target of a psychopath. But its balanced by a tall blond that believes in obedience or face the consequences. I love Ellie's fury, she doesn't learn easily but she's so very bright.
