What do you do when your past takes you back?

The years I’d spent growing up were the darkest of my life, even with counting the rotter outbreak. Then I gained my freedom, met some guys who refused to leave, and even got some of my siblings back.

Then my past came for me.

Now I spend my days watching, biding my time, waiting for my chance to escape while also trying to keep my sanity.

During this time, I’m forced to endure their experiments. Some will test me, and some could possibly break me. What I learn, though, could change everything I thought I’d ever known to be true.

I will fight my way out for my freedom. I did it before, I can do it again. Nobody will knock me down for good.

Not even the monster in the pearl necklace.

Veiled is the 4th book in Releasing the Magic series by Maya Riley.

Blyss was taken to Portugal by the evil Dr. Crane in the end of book 3 and this one picks up right after that.

It was all getting very ridiculous honestly in the terms of how easily Blyss and the guys just kinda stumble upon each other but then it was explained away as some kind of pull they experience which was okay....I guess? But it's still unbelieavle if we think about the grand scale all of this is happening at like we are literally talking about crossing oceans. How just how is it possible to land in the exact same place in such a vast world as the place Blyss was being held at?

Mateo gained his earth powers in this one like I suspected and it really wasn't that epic or suspenseful. But now that they all have the powers, this shitstorm can finally come to an end in the next book.

The ending was even more absurd with the magical beings and even the puppy being some sort of shapeshifter thingy. I am so fed up of it now.

2 stars.

If I try to look at this book logically-at this point for me it’s an absolute mess. There are far too many illogical coincidences where characters will run into one another, even when in different unknown countries. It’s like their world is an 1/8 the size of the real one. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ Then the biggest annoyance yet is Blyss swearing she’s no damsel but yet she’s always getting caught off guard when she doesn’t simply pay attention to her surroundings. There is literally a threat around every corner, hell even directly in front of her face & with her instincts warning her but she’s got her damn head in the clouds. The amount of times she doesn’t “realize” something are far too many to count. At least with one book left I hope I’m right in assuming she’ll actually save the world somehow and take out all the threats?!? One thing I can’t help thinking about though is if she can bring rotters back to life, they’ll have powers and without knowing what type of person they are or how they’d use their power, is this even safe to do? Just what the world needs, a bunch of evil intentioned humans with magical abilities.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Blyss is still absolutely amazing! Puppy totally rocks too and will always be my fave. There is quite a bit of twist and turns in this book that you will never see coming but they add so much to the story that it will blow your mind. Things are starting to come together by this point showing the build up to what is going to be one huge blowout. A must read for fans of apocalyptic reverse harem romance. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Another fantastic action packed story from Maya Riley. I am a huge fan of the "Releasing the Magic" series. I have enjoyed every second of these books from the very first one " infected"

You join Bliss and the guys fighting through the horrors that the world now is. Poor Bliss endures so much more in this book. The guys are brilliant and I love how the relationships are growing.
This is definitely a 5 stars from me.
I cant wait for book Five.

I have no idea how the author is doing it but the series keeps getting better with each book! Just when I thought I knew what is happening, the author blew my mind with all kinds of crazy unexpected stuff!
Just for those who were wondering, no matter who comes in the story, Puppy is still my favourite of all. I want Puppy. Puppy is the most wonderful. Although, Puppy is mostly on the back side of the story in this book, I mean not as much present as previously, which i hope is going to change in the next book. I need Puppy. Okay that was my Puppy loving paragraph.
As for others, things finally fall into place as far as Blyss' little group is concerned. They find balance and strength together, as well as companionship, friendship and love. All of those were present throughout the story, but it felt like it was building up to something, and now it feels like these feelings are cemented in stone for all eternity. It's beautiful. And the group is growing into a beautiful family, and Blyss is finally complete.
So much happens in this book, so many revelations and so many secrets, and there is so much action again, my head was spinning. After the crazy ending of the previous book, I was reading this one immediately and I couldn't stop! I inhaled it. And as usual, this was my favourite book in the series. What can I say, the author rocks! Can't wait for more!
Books should be read in order: Infected (Releasing the Magic Book 1), Salvaged (Releasing the Magic Book 2), Reclaimed (Releasing the Magic Book 3), Veiled (Releasing the Magic Book 4), and Released (Releasing the Magic Book 5).

Another suspenseful and action packed book! We delve deeper into the world of rotters and crazy people! We see more and learn more and I can't take it anymore! I need to know all the deets. Also have to throw in some very funny moments and some ones that make you look at the book side eyed (lol). I rank this series up there with some of my favorite TV shows where i'm dying to watch the next episode but have to wait a week. Now if we only had to wait a week for the next installment that would be the best news i've heard today!

Wow

Another adventure into the dystopian world of Blyss and her guys! I love the constant movement of the story and each character is dynamic and intriguing. The evil villains plotting to rule the world and destroy the human race so easy to hate. I highly recommend this series. It's a thrill ride you won't want to miss and though one woman with multiple guys isn't really something I have cared to read before, the characters play well off each other and I must commend the author for excellent writing.

This book was fabulous! This series is amazing and gets better with every book released! I absolutely love the characters and the storyline! It has an interesting take on the “zombie” or as they are called in this book “rotter” apocalypse. It’s been awesome finding out the how and why it all started. It’s totally a must read. You will not be disappointed

Amazing read! Absolutely love this series, it keeps getting better and better without a dull moment.
Blyss is Captured, locked in a cell, a cell she remembers from her past. The People surrounding her are crazy and she is loosing the will to live. Bus this is Blyss, she can handle everything life has to throw at her.
This is one amazing read

Love this series! This book picked right up where we last left Blyss and her crew. Enjoyed the addition of characters and twists along the way. This adventure has it all- magic, mystery, action, love and zombies! This storyline just keeps rolling! We’re left with another cliffhanger, and I can not wait to continue this awesome story...hurry up Maya, this fan is ready!

Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance

I love the series. The one thing that is a little off putting to me is Beaumont , Texas is flat and nowhere near the ocean, Portugal is thousands of miles from Texas. I love how badass Blyss is and the army she is building. Who wouldn't love Puppy? I want to end Mrs G.

Started dragging

So this isn’t my final review I got to page 176 and it just seems to be dragging, like I’m pulling teeth to make myself keep reading so I’m going to read a couple other things and come back. Loved the first 3 though maybe it just wasn’t a good idea to speed through the whole series.

Can't read fast enough!

I can't read this book fast enough or slide my finger across the screen fast enough. Even though I'm telling myself to slow down because it's almost over, I CAN'T! Because this book is so damn AMAZING! Blyss continues to kickass and learn about herself and her background. And let me tell you, my mind continues to blow my mind as it all unravels.

I can't stop reading this series

Its just soo good! Well written blending of sci-fi and romance. Also, I love the different change in locations and stakes getting higher as get close to the last book in the series. That really keeps us readers on the edge of the seat. I am really liking all these new characters as well.

If I have to be blunt, I'll say this:

I don't give a shit about the side characters, I find reading their POVs boring and would skim over them or roll my eyes because they're just so... BORING.

Like, I just wanna know about Blyss and her guys (and Puppy) and that's all.

Ugh, next to last book and boy is the action hot. I literally cannot stop reading. Like I said before I’m normally bored of a series by now, and this series is the total opposite of boring. Moving on to the next, and final book.

I really like this series it’s a different twist on a zombie apocalypse mixing it with a bit of magic. It’s a light fun read with a bit of a reverse harem going on. This was a little rushed in parts but still enjoyable for a quick read.

That’s a good Puppy

I guess I just needed to see their connection again, to really feel it. And this book gave that to me.
It’s a little too convenient how fast everyone found each other, but I’m just gonna say that’s part of their bond and leave it at that. Though brief, we finally got a few good intimate scenes. You can tell that is not this authors forte. But still, something is better than nothing.
The walking back-and-forth and seemingly just wandering around waiting not knowing what they are really even looking for, is a bit annoying. But at least there was plenty of action. And the book finally seemed to flow forward.
The only thing I really didn’t like is how fast they were able to continent hop. I get that they have powers, but the ease at which they made it from Texas to Portugal and from Portugal back to Texas makes the story to outlandish. I mean come on, we’re already expected to believe in these crazy powers during a zombie apocalypse and now we have to believe long distance travel is a thing of ease? It may be funny, but that is what sticks out to me the most.
I am seriously looking forward to the last book because I cannot guess at all how this will end. And that has been my favorite part about reading this series - an unpredictable outcome!
