What if you find out your whole life has been a lie? Coming of age is supposed to be about the discovery of one's self, but this is a whole new discovery. Asha comes to learn who she really is by facing obstacles and hurdles as she comes to learn magic is really amongst us.
A quick to read tale, Asha's story held my attention from the beginning. The storyline had a perfect blend of intrigue, hope, turmoil and love. All of the characters were penned very well and easy to understand although they were "magical." The ending has a tiny little teaser so the reader knows there will be a continuation of this series. I can see this author only getting better from this debut release. I believe she'll continue to grow and perfect her craft with each new book that she pens in the future.
Young Fae by AnnaMarie Gardner is a young adult fantasy novella about fairies. This is a great read for teens through adults. In fact i gave it to my daughter to read with me and she really enjoyed it. As if growing up were not hard enough imagine finding out there really is magic out there and you are apart of it. This book was almost a taste of what’s to come. My daughter wrote a brief review. I enjoyed the story. I can’t imagine growing up, trying to fit in and then finding out I was different. I really liked it and want to read more. Great job and can not wait to read more!
Young Fae - what happens when you turn 18 and your entire life changes? Asha had just that happen. Draven leads her on her travels through her magical discoveries and as they journey they begin to fall in love with each other. Young Fae is a story of discovery and learning to trust. Well written and lovely story. Ends in a bit of a cliff hanger - can't wait to see where the author goes in book 2. Recommended!!!!
This story captured my attention from the start. Asha learns who she really is and must face an evil she never imagined existed. With Draven and their friends to help can they make it through? An absolutely wonderful story! A quick read that is well worth the time!
It's a fast paced story of true love and family with the most adorable couple in Asha and Drayven. Can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us
I really don't like leaving bad reviews because I know how hard the authors work on creating their stories. However, I agree with some of the other reviewers, it might be a good idea for the author to re-write and re-edit the book. The kindle copy was full of typos and the paragraphs were all over the place. I was looking forward to reading this book but was unable to connect to the story or the characters because the conversations or the inner dialogue of the main characters read like journal entries.
This book is full of suspense, darkness and light, good and evil, love and family. It is about the coming of age for a young girl Asha who is a Fae princess and an elemental. The world building is amazing. You slip into a fairy tale world full of wood nymphs, fairies, sprites, and pixies who are just waiting for Asha to come into here power. The character development is succinct and you will fall in love with them all. Of course there is an evil being trying to spoil everything and keep Asha for himself. This is the first book in the series and I am very impressed with the skills of this author. She truly has invented a believable world with characters to fill it.
I'm going to be honest here. I found it a bit hard to focus on the story. Much of it felt like it was written by someone who was recording their day's events in a journal and less like an actual story was being told. When there were conversations between characters, they were lumped in one massive paragraph, making it difficult to follow. Normally, in fiction, each character will have their own paragraph for conversation. I believe the story would benefit greatly if the author would sit down with it and expand upon it, giving more depth to what it happening and how the characters are feeling and deal with the conflicts as opposed to basically listing what's happening. There is an incredibly rushed feeling to the story, not giving the reader time to get a proper feel for the characters. I found it difficult to keep track of how much time was passing on Asha's journey, making it feel like her mastery of her powers and her relationship to be incredibly rushed. there really wasn't any build up there. The ending itself was more abrupt than your average cliffhanger. It felt like it stopped mid-scene.
All in all, I think this story could have promise if it is fleshed out more. The reader should feel like they are part of the story and not that they are reading an abridged list of events. I think Young Fae would greatly benefit from some more details added to it.
I thought it was going to be different than it was, but for a first book and me being new to her stories/work, I enjoyed it. Quick read. It's like Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty grew up, had a kid, and this was the result, but with an adult difference and new problems. Awaiting book 2.
What happens when you go to sleep on your eighteenth birthday and dream of a mysterious man in a garden who has been looking for you for a very long time. That is exactly what happened to Asha, waking up to a whole new world where she finds out that she is actually a fairy princess but also an elemental. Nightmares haunt her every night and with the help of Draven, they will find the shadow man and stop him from takin Asha away, The characters are well written , Asha is your typical eighteen year old but there is more to her then anyone realizes . She becomes a fighter as she navigates her new life Draven is her constant companion and love . We see them fall in love along the way. He is a fighter and really romantic when it comes to Asha . We also get to see a lot of characters come in and out of their lives all there when she needs them. The characters are written well I think i would of liked them more if we got to know them a little better and they had a little bit more meat to them to make them more complex. This is a short read but in this short read the author has packed in romance, intrigue and friendship. The characters are really well written and the story line is good . The author take us on a fantasy fueled ride. I truly enjoyed the story and like where the author was taking the characters but I also felt that if felt rushed in some areas and we didn't get to feel what the characters were thinking and feeling . This would be a good series for your teen. So if you want some good fun read for your teens check it out .
Young Fae by AnnaMarie Gardner is a fantasy tale. Asha is a young girl who finds out on her 18th birthday, that she is a Fae! Draven has been assigned to return her to her native land. They fall in love and, well, have sex - often - on the journey to reunite with Asha's mother.
I am not sure what genre or age group this story falls under, but I did not enjoy it, At first I thought it was geared to a younger audience, but with the open door sex scenes, I guess it it aimed at an older audience. I did not feel that the story line and the sex scenes were a good mix.
This book was part of a Quirky Blind Date with an Author. This program is a wonderful way to find new authors and genres. It is also a way to find an author that you might not want to read again.
WOW are my first words. My first read I have read from this Author I love her already. She absolutely left me wanting more without a doubt. I have never read this genre of Romance before I absolutely loved it. The storyline was adventurous and fun. The love between Asha and Draven is simply beautiful and loving. I am so excited to see what becomes of Draven’s Sister Esme and how her romance blossoms will possibly grow with guard Dreya. I’m sure book 2 will be equally as exciting. I can’t wait to read more from this wonderful author.
This was a blind date book, so I had no idea how it would be. Never heard of this author before, so that's either exciting or scary. The story is short and very fast paced. She's instantly on an adventure with no hesitancy. Just everything about her life from 18 flew by so fast. This staccato way of story telling made me disconnected from the characters. If you like the magic of a fantasy realm then this story is for you. All up it was still an entertaining tale.
Young Fae is a fast paced take about a lost fae Princess coming of age, finding love, and uncovering a plot against her family. Gardner wastes no time jumping into the story and though the story itself takes place over a year, it takes mere hours to read.
The cliffhanger ending left me wanting more. I’m interested to see what mysterious dark force is lurking in the Fae world now and how the royal family over comes it.
3.5/5 stars. This story has a whimsical almost dream like feel with the adventure that Asha goes on after she turns 18. The pacing is very quick for this short read with each part coming through feeling a bit more like an itemized list of things done in a day and not like I'm experiencing the story. There's a lot of content and I wish we'd gotten to spend some more time as she grows her new powers, finds herself and explores her feelings in this fantastical land.
This book never slowed down in pace. It flowed from begining to end without leaving you feeling bored. There was so much more to this book than I expected from the number of pages. It felt like I read a book twice the length. The characters were lovely and sweet, leaving no room to root for the villain. Very fun and refreshing Fae adventure. Will be reading the next book to follow the story of the next pairs journey.
As Asha becomes an adult her world is changed. She's finds out that not only is she a princess, but also magical. She then starts on a journey to meet her family. Along the way she encounters different fae that help her grow her powers while being chased by a darkness. However even darkness cannot overpower the amazingly sweet atmosphere created by this story. If you are looking for a book that gives all the good feelings then this is it.
Young Fae is a YA PNR quick read. The characters grasp and draw you in quickly. As if coming of age isn’t enough, to find out that not only are you not human, but a Royal well. Be prepared to have your senses stirred with vivid imagery, chivalry and dedicated loyal friends. Looking forward to the next book in the series by this great author!
For this to be this author's debut work it was a great book..had you hooked from page one to the last..cannot wait for book two in this se r and for what she comes up with next.. She is an author that i highly recommend to anyone and everyone..go check out this book now you won't be disappointed whenever you do
Our leading lady finds her world turned a bit upside down on her 18th birthday, when she discovers that she's so much more than an ordinary girl. Her adventure is one filled with self-discovery, love, magic, and family.
This is a very sweet story, and I think it would be a good introduction to fantasy for younger readers. To me, it does read on the younger side of YA.
This story progresses very quickly. I would have liked a bit more development of the characters, relationships, and what was going on, but that wouldn't make me lower my rating. It was a cute novella about good versus evil, love, and familial bonds. I look forward to reading the next book!
A quick magical read filled with love and danger. On her eighteenth birthday Asha's life changes forever when she meets Draven. He takes her on a journey to the land of the Fae where secrets are slowly revealed. I enjoyed the characters and their developing relationships. The story does end with a precarious situation setting up the next book.
This book while interesting is in serious need of good editing and a rewrite. while the story is OK in itself I found it hard to connect with the characters and found the insta love instant family a little hard to take for an 18 yr old heroine.
Love how this story is paced out. So happy with how Asha does in this story! You will laugh, scream a little and maybe want to throw the book at the end! It will have you wanting to keep reading to see what happens next!
A shocking discovery. Unable to shake the feeling something was about to happen. Our Heroine finds herself wandering seeking the answers. Such magical answers they are
Wow, talk about awesome world building!!! Annamarie has created a world of which I don't want to come out!!! Really looking forward to next book in this series. The characters are remarkably well written and developed and their interactions blend in with ease! Do not miss this one
Asha discovers on her birthday that everything is as it seems. She finds herself in a new world full of magic, but that is not all she finds. With light comes darkness. Can she defeat the evil, grow her magic, and maybe find love?
Love this fae romance. This book brings a young girl who must learn about herself along the way she finds love and friendship but in order to keep them she must find a way out of the cold shadowy dreams.
